In this video we dive into the career of Quarterback Christian Ponder and his rise to being one of the top draft prospects to the fall of being known as one of the biggest bust in Vikings and NFL History.
Christian Ponder was a big time quarterback coming out of Florida State University and was selected high in the 2011 NFL Draft to the Minnesota Vikings.
Ponder’s career did not go as planned as he was quickly out the NFL by the year of 2016

Injuries was a big part of it for sure , but even with that, I don’t believe he was ever going to be the franchise guy. He was too inconsistent going back to his college days as well

So for some added info. The week of that playoff game against the packers, ponder is taken to the er for his arm. He had no feeling in it and they also cut nerve endings. A member of the training staff stopped the doctor but it was clear he was not playing in the game. The vikings basically told Joe Webb 24 hours before the game ponder is out and we are not bringing in a vet. Webb, drafted as a wr, did not play well. Ponder that off season bulked up his arm to try and protect the injured spot. The result was a nice strength upgrade, but he lost the ability to throw in stride. Meaning wrs had to stop and fight for the ball. This is why his best weapons were Percy and Rudolph. Take away that limited touch and his ints went up badly. He also had more tds that teddy did, but most of us will easily say teddy was the better qb.

@@TheCoachPlays oh definitely! There’s a lot of great examples of that, even some guys who had a big impact, and then sizzled out, Percy Harvin, even Adrian Peterson (we all kinda know what happened and there was age as a factor as well lol) but yeah! Keep up the fantastic work!

I couldn't believe how long he made us Vikings fan suffer. I was starting to think that he was Spielman's child. It was only four years? Man, it was painful.

Imagine if he was in Kyle shanahan’s type of system. He would’ve been good actually since he was a short to intermediate QB thrower

Very well could have been. It’s always the big picture. Where does he get drafted , who does he have around him , and how does he perform within that system. Not always on the player, there are multiple aspects of a career when it pans out or doesn’t. Mahomes is a great great player, he also went into a great system and Head Coach.
