Carl Jung discusses the integration of the conscious and unconscious minds, including methodology for integration, along with challenges, pitfalls, and dangers.
I don't understand how you don't have thousands of subscribers. I will start sharing your uploads all over social media groups that might appreciate them. Keep up the fantastic work!
This makes me wonder whether the phenomenon of vertigo when a person is in a high place is a manifestation of an extreme case of consciously rejecting their then present capability of slipping and falling, or intentionally stepping off of the edge.
For anyone who has approached improvised theatre: does it not sound and feel like a manifestation or suitable context for the exercise of the transcendent function? A two-step of the creation and the understanding approach to processing subconscious material.
Psycho-analysis is the practice of readjustment not a cure all. As Jung states, the unconscious is constantly mutating/metamorphosing and it will impress this changing state on consciousness, whether consciousness prefers it or not. Psycho-analysis allows the individual the opportunity to change its psychological orientation to take the aforementioned into account or not as the case maybe.
it seems to be that modern therapies(e.g CBT) work "top down", by consciously changing thoughts/behaviors habitually until they are reinforced throughout the unconscious, while psychoanalysis works "bottom up", by accessing parts of the unconscious that are usually too deep to reach to diagnose and "debug" issues. As a software developer psychoanalysis is much more appealing to me, finding the root cause and fixing it rather than applying a bandaid. Not to mention it's just much cooler and more interesting. But I question how practical this method can be given the tremendous complexity of the unconscious and our limited access to it. Don't know what my question is, I guess I'm hoping for someone to prove my assumption wrong
@@Squashmalio a few random thoughts on your reply, if I may. Jung states in the above audio that depth psychology is a method that uses various 'tools' to gain access to the unconscious and the contents within; dream analysis being one. Once this has been achieved the process of psychological excavation can begin. However, except if you enter Psychotherapy as a trainer, few people risk the chance to enter the subterranean arena and wisely so, because such an adventure can in fact lead to disaster (psychosis), especially if the Psychoanalyst is poorly trained or unbalanced themselves. A fascination with the unconscious contents can lead to 'possession' by archetypes, which in turn can be disastrous. I recall reading a saying attributed to an alchemist who said (I paraphrase)'Many have been lost on the path in their attempt to find the treasure hard to find.' With regards to finding healing to trauma or other issues, psychoanalysis isn't a complete unicorn's horn or an alexipharmis. It can only ,when it works; allow the seeker of healing to move on from that which encumbers them, until that is the next barrier stands in their way. I suppose it could be said that the unconscious can be as detrimental to some as it can be enlightening to others, either of which has no pre-agreed guarantee.
"The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche" (Vol 8 of The Collected Works of Carl Jung). It's only 25 pages out of 530 pages, but the rest of the book's geat, too.
Thank you so much. I love ur audio books. Jordan peterson talked about a cg jung book - aion (?) (maybe-phenomeonogy of the self part two?) but I can't find it. Please can you help/do it. Thanks again
I enjoy Jordan Peterson too. I've heard a lot of references to Jung, but it was actually Jordan Peterson who finally got me to check him out. Definitely check out The Red Book, if you want to read something good.
bob bobs Actually someone dropped me a link to the works you mentioned here. The comment disappeared for some reason, though I got the file. Here soon I'll see if I can find the essay you mentioned. Thanks to the person who sent the link.
if you guys are still looking for a reading of Aion: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cEYGmLiWOS4.html I think only part of its up as of now
The coconut 🥥 of the ego may more easily be addressed though a boundary dissolving encounter with a ayahuasca shaman. The spirit molecule. Dr. Rick Strassman, M.D. Kathleen Harrison, MA and Gabor Mate, M.D. and the study of mythology. An intention to obtain wholeness and healing⚠️
SHOULD the conscious exert it's control over the unconscious(moreso than it already does by naturally evolved mechanisms which Jung lays out in the first few minutes here)? And what does that even mean? And also, wtf?
I don't mind the monotone, but do find the speed annoying. A good reading should, I think, be done at about the same pace that one would speak that content, and with some pauses to allow the listener to integrate what is being said. But I do appreciate the work put into this.
john miller A person needs to judge Jung’s work for themselves, and not rely on or be swayed by the opinion of others. The merit of Jung’s work is in no way affected by Jordan Peterson.
