06:00 it's not true that the effects of puberty blockers are reversible. It might be true that when you stop these drugs, your body goes back to its normal functioning (although this probably doesn't apply to everyone, some may have lastig effects on these systems from these drugs), but growth and development is limited to a certain age period. We all stop growing at some point, girls usually at a younger age than boys, but boys eventually also stop growing. Then there's the cognitive development that isn't really measured and isn't visible from the outside. When you interfere with puberty either by drugs or because a child is severely/long term ill, they can't always fully catch up to the stunted development. If puberty usually lasts between, say, age 11-16 for girls, when you block that for the first 2 years, if she then stops the blockers at age 13, she only has 3 years left to go through puberty because the time at which the body will be done with puberty is probably not pushed back by the blockers. The time period for puberty isn't pushed back, which is what the doctors suggest, it's shortened. How can a child have a normal, healthy puberty in 3 years when it would have taken 5 years had she not been given drugs? Explain this to me.

So males were asked the female questions and vice versa. By definition if you have gender dysphoria and take a survey for the sex you identify with you will demonstrate "lower gender dysphoria" because that's the sex you want to identify with and females can't feel dysphoria about erections and males can't feel dysphoria about menstruation.

Hier zie ik naar mijn mening hoe uit de hand die woke beweging is gelopen, als je al niet meer wetenschappelijke onderzoeken kunt doen zonder er kritiek op te krijgen als ''transfoob'' en dat soort dingen. Iemand die niet een interview wilt doen vanwege de gevoeligheid van het onderwerp etc. Men moet er gewoon over kunnen praten, anders kunnen we net zo goed stoppen met wetenschap.

It's not that the Dutch protocol has been adopted in other countries. They only do the puberty suppression but usually NOT the intensive/weekly therapy. They just give you the really harmful drugs and I guess you have to figure to rest out yourself. As I understand, the Dutch protocol should include frequent therapy during that period that puberty blockers are being used. But even so, medical transition isn't evidence-base medicine. It's a crime against humanity to do this to minors/vulnerable/mentally-ill people.

29:00 It's unethical to enrol someone with cancer or other severe/life-limiting illness into a clinical trial where the control group receives a placebo IF there is already an (somewhat) effective and approved treatment. In that case the effective treatment should be the control group and the new treatment that they are developing should be what the other half of the patients receive. But we are talking about people with emotional/mental health issues. If they do not get drug treatment to transition, they will physically still be healthy at any point in the future. Of course a control group shouldn't receive nothing in the case of severe mental illness, but if they are giving drugs and therapy to the experimental group, they should have a control group that gets only therapy. Then you can study the effects of the drugs.

Perhaps it is a good idea that, for example, some external, independent, neutral scientists are approached to partner and contribute to the setup and the research? Especially now that there are doubts about the protocol from England, Sweden and Finland.

I find it interesting when the Dutch set forth a protocol that stipulates that the gender dysphoria needs to have an early onset and then all the other countries keep accepting patients that do not meet that criteria and are then surprised that they aren't getting similar results. I do have a hypothesis why many hospitals are seeing both an increase in applicants and a decrease in successful treatment. I grew up on the internet and I have been exposed to a lot of information, a lot of different opinions and ideas and this has affected me greatly in the way I see myself. For most of my life I felt really alienated from myself, the people around me and society as a whole but I did find recognition, respect and love in online communities of similarly minded people. It took until my late 30's for me to see professional help from a psychology and it took years of work for my feelings and thoughts of myself to change in a way they where in sync and led to a positive outlook. Gender never really came up in this discussion but it was something I did look into as I found many people with similar symptoms in the LGBTQ+ community and to this day many of my close friends are in this group. Including a good friend that absolutely benefited from gender care. I feel that the LGBTQ+ group has become a community of people that have no community in their own local area. They don't receive the recognition, love and respect that we all need to happy then they find this in the LGBTQ+ group. It is actually really amazing the LGBTQ+ group is probably one of the most diverse yet most united group possibly in the world and it's growing rapidly. This cause real world issues and there are things we have to recognize: 1) Why is this happening in the first place? Why do so many people feel completely alienated in the family, friend, school, culture or religious groups they grew up in. 2) Why do many of these people end up using or needing mental health care or gender care? I have my own opinions on the matter. Society has changed with the broad adaptation of the internet, it doesn't matter what you believe or what you feel you can easily find others with similar ideas and emotions. This is a dual edge sword. If you end up in a good, helpful and supportive group this can be life changing if not live saving as it has for me and many of my friends. It can also increase the level of alienation and push people in an even more disconnected bubble or safe-space with no way out. If you're desperate for recognition, respect and love and you end up finding it in a group that very extremist ideas then that is what you will do. That is kinda true for all of history as far as I can tell. People become part of really unhealthy groups because that group provides them with the basic necessity of validation. This has become so easy in the internet age and people know this, extremist groups actively recruit such individuals. The solution, in my opinion, is to start teaching a foundation of psychological selfcare to everyone. It took me years of therapy to deal with the trauma my lack of good self care tools and I know that these tools can be thought to everyone and that it would benefit them greatly. Right now we lack a generally accepted method of discussing emotions and the thoughts that come with it and while this worked okay in the past it has become a major problem in our current day world where we are exposed to ideas and emotions from all over the world. I personally think that teaching a foundation in schema therapy in school would a hugely positive effect on the mental health of the students and later as adults. I also thing we should do something similar when it comes to critical thinking and rationalization skills. Half the reason so many of our discussions about very important and emotional loaded topics go poorly is due us not teaching debate in school. I think this should be a core subject regardless of the level of education. In a world where more and more is automated and many complex tasks might very soon be done by AI we will have to find a place in society and I think the only way we can do this is by giving people to the tools to put their thoughts and their emotions into words in a constructive way.
