Yeah I like that tip about feeling what works for your body. I’ve explored a few feels in my swing and I feel my swing a lot in my right elbow and pulling my ass back in down swing. You really hammer home the vitals like weight forward early, right elbow tucked in at address, not swaying the hips, shallowing the club etc etc. All been very beneficial to my swing. Love your content mate! Cheers

I second this. I had the starter at my local muni come up to me one time while I was doing warm up swings with my driver and tell me I was flaring my lead knee out too much (it's how I get rotation with limited hip mobility) and him saying that got deep into my swing thoughts and ruined my golf game for a full week. It's really nice to hear a good coach say to do what works.

This video was a game changer for me! Thank you so much! I was able to GROOVE my full swing in the living room using a putter and the line on the putter would effortlessly go directly through my line established at address! ....Almost like a perfect putting stroke... I was thinking that step 3 should almost become step 2 (swap them) because the stretch that he describes in step 3 transition will help increase speed when you go after the ball close to impact as described in step 2. Thanks Again!!

I love this feel of moving a spot on the lead thigh as a downswing trigger. I find that this feel, done smoothly, also works well for me as a backswing trigger. Using this move just naturally encourages a tension free swing. I always give my swing triggers names that encourage a smooth and not overdone move. Thinking "SPOTTY", works for me.

We all think about greater control in the golf swing. But the excitement of the game quickly gets us away from being more conservative in the swing. But thinking about an action that reflects upon our sense of self respect can keep us controlled in the swing. At 9:26 the remarks about how we move our hands to our face was a very memorable thought. I think it can be part of the cornerstone of a consistent controlled swing.

This is exactly what I'm always working on these days. When I clear my hips and shoulders properly, the shots are way more likely to be accurate...on target. When my hips and shoulders don't come through properly, I'm way more likely to pull the ball....as the club comes through before the body does.

Yep...judging from the comments below I am in good company. Took a number of these ideas to the range today and hit into a very stiff wind...relaxing. Freaking great lesson. This idea of delay of the arms is crucial. By totally relaxing it is possible. Add my name to this great string of comments in saying that this was a very valuable source of information. Reading "The Inner Game of Golf" by Timothy Gallwey. I have to admit that I was really sceptical at first but I will say it is worth the read and I am only a third of the way through it. It goes hand and hand with the ideas in this video. Also "Mike Maggs" golf online has some super videos along the line of "Golf for Idiots" that I have found to be very enlightening. Handicap dropped from 6.7 to 3.3 virtually overnight. Headed lower! Look out below! Thanks Eric.

I see a ton of content on the sequence of the downswing and emphasizing,as you did, the lower body moving earlier than the upper body. My question is, on the takeaway do you also want the right leg/pelvis to go earlier than the arms to trigger the takeaway? Seems to make sense in order to properly sequence the backswing but I’d love to hear your take on that. Great video. Thank you.
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 2 месяца назад
Hey Mike! Its a little bit of the FEET first and then the rest FEELING likes its moving in one unit. The backswing to downswing speed is like 3:1....the sequencing like this produces speed which is needed on way down but not back. It also helped with shallowing the angle of the shaft....also important on the way down but not back hope that helps

Eric and Trevor can you speak to the "adding speed at the bottom" in relation to "posting or bracing" the lead leg for the release? Dr. Rose over at TPI (among others) would say that bracing and/or straightening the lead leg is what allows the hands to slow down and therefore transfer energy up the chain to the club to fire through the hitting area. How does that all mix? I know it does jsut not sure how.... thanks!!

The body is electrical. Thought leading to action occurs instantaneously. We can summon the strength we need instantaneously. At the top of the backswing we need to feel for the hips completing the backswing and beginning the downswing. Ben Hogan said that the hips were passive at the beginning of the backswing. I think what he meant was that the hips were the last movement in the backswing.

Its really timing issue. The slingshot or the coil is what creates that natural speed and lag. You gotta stop the lower body moving and then arms at the point where your own mobility lets you and transition into downswing. It feels effortless when done correctly.

This is MONEY., makes sense but when I do it tension free, the face is WIDE open. Why?

Thanks George! I'd start here for managing/squaring the club face: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fCW9W_lGQtM.htmlfeature=shared Let us know if any questions!

Yeah thats common.....you will likely have to CONSCIOUSLY add some squaring...

You have to be tension free only on the backswing. Once you start into downswing the grip has increase and at impact you have to feel your trail hand gripping the club more than your lead hand to really create that follow through and strike it hard. If the gripnis loose through impact you get open club face.
