@Djamonja
@Djamonja Месяц назад

@BernhardWelzel
@BernhardWelzel Месяц назад
@@Djamonja because US espionage is #1 in the world - specially against allies and their own population. All communication in the US is monitored and a lot of the communication in the rest of the world as well; but that is ok, because the US are the "good guys", right? US companies are forced to participate in this espionage, so you know that you can never trust a US based company in terms of data privacy. And there is no rule of law in the US, as you can end up in Guantanamo Bay at any point in time. All you need is the label "terrorist", assigned by a secret court, no human rights needed. But of course, China is evil. Sure.

@BernhardWelzel
@BernhardWelzel Месяц назад
@@Djamonja i am sure that China does espionage, but mainly to protect itself against an aggressor. I am not sure what is worse: espionage by China or by the US. From the perspective of mankind, it is important that other countries than the US are owning + operating infrastructure. The US seems to be one election away to turn into a dictatorship and that is a risk for all other countries. So from my point of view: China should install more cables and should push back the bully.

I had a friend who was just hired to be a Program Manager in Hong Kong over 8 - 10 years ago by British contractor for the Chinese government to run, maintain and manage their Fiber Optic networks between Hong Kong and Taiwan ( Hon - Tai network) but US and UK governments wouldn't build those cables or run them due to worry about Chinese competition. So that British contractor lost the job and contract from Beijing to prove the service which prompted the Chinese government to outsource to Chinese telecomm companies to run & maintain the Fiber Optic network and resulted in China's economic growth and competition. Plus, China was concerned that Britian MI6 intelligence would tap into that network for spying!! China and Russia was already aware that Western intelligence agencies tapping into European and Southeast asian fiber networks and wanted to prevent sabotage to their networks like the Nordstrom incident.

The US experts continually get it wrong when talking about China, how many times have we heard about a collapsing economy yet each year it continues to grow. Remember when the US refused to let China participate in the 'not quite international' space station program so China made a more advanced station of their own. It will benefit the US to work with China , we know from experience that anything we do not share with China will be made without our help so this trying to cut China out of everything ends up being disadvantageous to us and incentivises China to make their own.

Meanwhile, US investment in war still leaves you losing on all fronts for 75 years. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 You need a major long-term cultural change.

Don’t spend too much on military and spend more on infrastructure, so you don’t have to cry about China success.

I think that specialization of technology across different countries is beneficial. China can have the ships, and US can have the chips. It's a win-win for both countries on the premise of free trade, and given that both parties do not exploit the other through espionage.

This is impossible, both sides want to have it all, that's human nature
@enneige871

@@yukiuta We can write a constitution that prevents both sides from having it all. While it's true that it's human nature for one to want everything, we don't have to succumb to our nature

Some of these shots, like the hull storage at 5:33, are incredibly interesting. Opposed to the standard big power bickering that just makes everything more expensive for consumers, with fiber optic cables, redundancy is actually a huge advantage.
