We showcase all 30 AAA minor league baseball stadiums for the 2021 season. Including 20 Triple-A East Ballparks and 10 Triple-A West Ballparks. Thanks for watching!
I encourage you to look more into Louisville. The Kentucky Derby, the first of the three Triple Crown events in thoroughbred racing, is held here the first Saturday in May. It’s a major sporting event in the U.S. and people know the city far more for it than for Louisville Slugger, all due respect to them. We’re also know for basketball, especially for the University of Louisville Cardinals.
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums de nada. I enjoy your work and am pleased you included Slugger Field. I also forgot to mention Lynn Family Stadium, home of our USL Championship and NWSL soccer teams. Gorgeous venue. When you’re driving on the interstate East out of downtown it appears out of nowhere and pops out at you.
Fifth Third is a bank that is located primarily in the Midwest. The unusual name was coined during the Prohibition era, where "three fifths" would have been thought of as a reference to alcohol.
I work at NBT Bank Stadium and we just had a $25 million renovation and the park looks so much better. There is a train station just a block away from the stadium so they always blast their horn when going by. Also when we have fireworks the overgrown area catches on fire a few times a year.
N B T bank owns that stadium . really they have 25 million to renovate . Interesting . i just caught these idiots making false statements , on some ones credit report . matter of fact 2 different interest rates same account number . how ever while person was living in house , and refinanced a home equity loan the following month the bank filed foreclosure documents and kept it quiet until the person moved for 3 and a half years 3 months ago they filed another foreclosure , on the same house, same account number . mean while they were using electronic surveillance on customer . I have a lot of friends who are met fans down in southern new York .
As a Rochester native I gotta say I was surprised when Frontier Field was forgotten about but then thrown at the end with such a lackluster commentary. Maybe in a year or two when some new stadiums get built you'll redo this list with a less disappointing spot for the oldest continually operated minor league team in the country. The rest of the video was great!
as rochester natives we gotta get used to it, always forgotten upon between buffalo and syracuse, in a tiny little corner in the country, in a pretty crappy city, overall just meh
In El Paso, they hired a top notch firm to fit a square peg into a round hole......City Hall was knocked down and up came Southwest University Park. It is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing food choices....located in Downtown and like one other stadium, next to the train tracks....hence the USL soccer team that also plays there is called the El Paso Locomotives
Agreed. I visit the city once a year and make sure to check out a game. They also still don’t have netting down the line as of a few months ago, which makes it even better.
19,000 seat Sahlen Field in Buffalo did become the 2020 Home of the Major League Toronto Blue Jays when the Canadian Border Closed Due to Covid 19 and may also Play Host to Some Blue Jay Games in 2021!!
Man some of the best memories of my life were had in Smith's Ballpark and I just might cry next month when I can finally return after not seeing live baseball for 18 months.
I used to go to the Sacramento Rivercats games all the time when I was a kid and when I was in college. Great memories. The view of the Sacramento river and the Sacramento Bridge was priceless. They also had very good minor league teams when the A's owned them and they won a few triple AAA championships.
I went there a few years back.. it was amazing... the night sky from the seats.. the fireworks over the city... and the tickets weren’t too expensive either. Loved it.
For real though, Smiths Ballbark feels like it's closed off from the rest of the world inside. From the lower seats all you can see are the field, the trees and the mountains. It's pretty great!
I had season tickets to the Oakland A's Triple-A team in Sacramento, Rivercats. I saw a Triple-A All star game there. Was such a great experience. Since the Giants kicked out the A's I've never gone back.
best thing about Huntington Park is you can literally watch the game through the right field wall on the sidewalk outside the stadium also, Fifth Third is the name of a bank lol
Somebody may have beaten me to this explanation, but Fifth Third Field in Toledo is named after 5/3 Bank. It's a large corporation located primarily in the Great Lakes region, United States. Just a little tidbit of information for you, cool video man! Go Mud Hens
This was really interesting seeing the minor league stadiums. My only visit to a minor league game was Memphis to see the Redbirds. The stadium as noted is impressive. An advantage of its location is being so close a walk from Beale street for great barbecue food and blues music. Cards fan from STL
Same with Durham bulls. They were smart and built their stadium next to the American tobacco campus and a lot of cool restaurants and historic places are down there. Just a short walk away, developers will be developing a bunch of new restaurants and hotels on the other side of the campus. Plus, they have a Bull
Sahlen Field ( 3:15 ) did host the Toronto Blue Jays 2020 season and half of the 2021 season. They made many improvements to make it feel like home for the Jays. I finally got to see an MLB game because of this. woohoo
I live in Detroit which is less than a hour from toledo ohio. The tigers triple A team is Toledo. So we go down to Toledo a few times a year cuz it's a beautiful stadium and not expensive and a great time while cheering on future tigers players. It's just a ideal situation having are farm team less than a hour away and it's a gem.
Agreed I too live in the area and enjoy going to both Comerica and Fifth Third. The product on the field at Comerica has resembled the minor leagues lately however
@@lionsfan7500 Last year really hurt the young pitching with the minor leagues being postponed. It's starting to feel like the 04' 05' seasons ready to break out like in 06' with all the young talent. Next year maybe some higher caliber free agents? I totally believe in AJ!
@@erikmoyer1788 You make a great point. With no minor league baseball last season, that really hurt the young pitchers and most likely put them a year behind. Your other great point is this will be like 04 and 05 and in 2 years having it all come together.
I went to a Mud Hens game at the old Lucas County Fairgrounds. One of my idiot friends got liquored up & started yelling at and harassing Muddy, the team mascot. Fans around us were getting pissed & so Muddy went after my friend with his plastic bat & proceeded to pummel my dumbass friend! The crowd around us went nuts and started chanting, “Muddy! Muddy! Muddy! I still laugh my ass off about that night 28 years ago!
Being a native of Tacoma, WA, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the killer views of Mt. Rainier from along the third-base side of the field. I worked part of a summer there, and the view on sunny days never stops being amazing. Also, the soccer teams that are currently ground-sharing with the Rainiers - USL Championship side Tacoma Defiance and NWSL's OL Reign - are planning to move into a new 5,000 seat stadium just north of Cheney Stadium, in what Metro Parks Tacoma is calling the Heidelberg Sports Village.
@@jos2136396 That is the plan, so far. But it could still be another year or so because of all the lovely little headaches caused in the process of building a publicly funded sports complex. And the history of building new stadia in the Seattle-Tacoma area on the taxpayer's dime is historically a complex and not always popular process.
Yeah. I just went to a Rainiers game this weekend and our GA tickets were for the R Bar, which I'd never been in before. The mountain was out and the view there was fantastic. Well, not of the game, which we basically couldn't see because the bar was so crowded and they inexplicably have no monitors in the bar area...
I worked for a company in Gig Harbor and I'd crossing the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to go see a Rainiers game. I enjoyed having some Rainier Beer at the ballpark.
@@chrisallen9673 Last time I was there I got to watch a long haired guy tapping his foot before throwing 95 mph fastballs. Never saw anyone pitch like that before. Wasn't long before Mike Clevinger was pitching for Cleveland.
The Jumbo Shrimp stadium is actually a fun place to watch a baseball game. Speaking of a missed opportunity, there's actually an old church near the third side of the field that he failed to mention.
Firth Third Field is an absolute dime! Chickasaw Bricktown on the other hand looks like..... are we sure walking dead wasn't filmed there? The grass looks a bit like rotting flesh. Or at least a bacterial infection.
@@kamelkadri2843 I usually just tell people outside of Texas that I'm from Houston, because when I tell them where I'm actually from I might as well tell them I live in "Candyland"...i.e. they don't believe me.
All of those stadiums looked good to me. I like for the most part they try to emulate the traditional jewel box major league stadium look, just smaller.
6:06 I remember being there at the first coolray field game in 2009, my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister, my grandmother, and myself went to the game, it was an awesome game. I returned two more times for a game at Sports Broadcasting Camp when I was 16, then when I was a senior for a high school baseball game as a manager back in 2016 when I was 20.
Living in Salt Lake I, of course, believe Smith's Ballpark is the best of the best. It's a great place to watch a ballgame and watch the Wasatch mountains reflect the sundown. It's beautiful and not that far away from being a Major League venue, if even for some exhibition games.
They already did check it out Lived in Tennessee and went to several games at Smokies Park Double AA Chicago Cubs affiliate now living in Southern Maine going to Headlock Field this evening to see the Portland Seadogs play Boston Redsox Double AA affiliate Let's Go Seadogs !!!
Being a Las Vegas native, it was awesome going from worst 3A ballpark with Cashman Field to possibly the best. Also, as we may get the other Oakland team, LV Ballpark can be expanded to be the A's temp home field until yet another new stadium is built.
Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark is a beautiful ballpark, highly recommended it. They do have a spectacular Friday Night Fireworks show for Friday Night home games. However, when they built the ballpark I wished they faced the seats towards the downtown Oklahoma City skyline.
I know you said for the small population of El Paso but actaully El Paso, Tex might be the biggest city other than a few to have a triple A team..I think they have about 700k
the valley where Salt Lake CIty is situated is currently over 1 million , but we dont have any more room to grow.. its now wala to wall mormon breeding farms LOL (aka giant overblown housing developments with extremely poor planning for congestion etc).
to be fair, the use of the money for polar park is more an infrastructure plan than just building a ballpark. they had to redesign one of the most dangerous intersections in Massachusetts
I was around when sutter health park was called Raley field for almost my whole life “(I’m 18) so many great memories came there and many more memories to come
Harbor park was incredible… back in 1993. They haven’t done nearly enough remodeling inside the stadium. But (good or bad) next year there’s gonna be a massive casino in the left field parking lot and they’re gonna fix up the dock
Bill Murray is part owner of the Saints! Lol and You'd have to live there to know but CHS field is near Union depot train station and right near the Mississippi River and lower town St Paul, the stadium has a beautiful rustic train station vibe, from the outside and you CAN see the skyline from inside. They also have beautiful upper level patio style seating, which provides a better view of that. It also has seats behind the outfield. It's pretty neat Also being that the twin cities has some of the best breweries, and it's close proximity to all sorts of dank food I think CHS is the best ballpark in the triple A. Go Raccoons! They also line the inside with lights and open it up for ice skating in the winter
I used to live and work close to this area back in the 70s. (One of my favorite bars, the Depot Bar, was in the area) It sure has changed but while I've never seen the ballpark family member that still lives in the area rave about it.
Victory Field and Slugger Field are phenomenal. Been to both, prime downtown locations. Indianapolis was actually mooted for a stretch as an MLB location because of Victory Fields location and easy expandability. I've seen Isotopes Park, but never been to a game. Location isn't bad, near a massive park.
Victory Field was a pioneer in minor league baseball in that it was the start of a trend of very nice ballparks located near the downtown of their city. (Previously, the trend was for ballparks that were less nice and located out in the suburbs.) It's not as special now as it was at the time but it still should have been mentioned. Fifth Third is the name of a major national bank in the United States, formed from the merger of Fifth National Bank and Third National Bank.
@@knife-wieldingspidergod5059 Used to live there, used to go out and watch the Indians play. Most of the games I watched were at old Bush Stadium, but I did get to watch a few at the newer Victory Field and those were a nice experience.
Sahlen field is now a second home for the blue jays until allowed back into Canada while the original team (Buffalo Bisons) is being relocated into Trenton where there Trenton thunder double A team played.
Have been to the Indianapolis stadium, Iowa Cubs stadium (Absolutely agree on the try the ham) and Louisville's Stadium. Absolutely would recommend going to all three for anyone who hasn't been there.
Well, the International League, the Pacific Coast League, the Eastern League, the Southern League, the Texas League, the Midwest League, the Northwest League, the South Atlantic League, the California League, the Carolina League, and The Florida State League are back starting from 2022 onwards. They also traded "Low a" for Single-A.
@@JayEmAy Wasn't so much "wised up" as "didn't have the rights to them last year". In legal terms, the realignment of the minors consisted of the teams leaving the old minor league corporate structure and joining a new one formed by MLB, and they weren't able to secure the transfer of the old league trademarks in time for last season. Now they have, and so the new leagues have taken the names of the old leagues they most closely approximate.
Was waiting for a Bull Durham reference during the Durham Bulls park... I got you: "And no, they don't have railroad tracks running through the outfield"
Steamed hams was a gag stolen from a 1990s Simpsons episode where Home mixes up Steamed Clams and hamburgers. I've never been to this stadium... but that's the gag. The narrator doesn't know his Simpsons trivia.
Fun note, The Saints feature the 2nd smallest ballpark by seating capacity yet they are usually top 5 or better in attendance due to the fact that it has a TON of room for standing room only tickets meaning the ~7,200 seat park can see crowds of over 10,000 on some of it's bigger weekends.
NBT bank stadium got a huge renovation in 2021, and is gorgeous now! All the colors were changed to be mets colors also.. Trains often go by during games and toot their horns. The overgrown area is a black hole for many of humerus. The stadium is truly one of the nicest parts of syracuse.
Nothing about _Bull Durham_ for the Durham Bulls? And 121 Financial Park (2003) pre-dates the Jumbo Shrimp name (2017). This is going to be Jacksonville's first year in AAA since 1968; they were AA previously.
@@GoalHornGeek Incidentally, CHS Field is small for a AAA park because it was built as an indy league park (American Association) and wasn't a MiLB park until this year. I expect they're going to add more seating in 2022 or 2023.
walk on over to Beale street early for some great bbq - take in a game and walk back over for some blues and brews if you are looking for a nice night in memphis.
As a Rochester native ouch. Ive been to the Syracuse Mets ballpark it's much diffrent than Frontieer Feild like there was a guy that was talking with a player when he was like 7 rows back. It was kinda annoying but at the same time really cool
@@curtiswelker7245 oh of course. He’s an acquaintance of mine. We hang at the park and talk the team. I get he may be abrasive to a lot of fans, especially people who don’t know him, but i think he is the most genuine, old school New York baseball fan i’ve ever met. He never curses. He gets balls for kids, gets them signed from the players . He attends every game more or less. When the season is wrapping up in late August, especially if we’re in the mix for a playoff spot, he’ll travel to Rochester, or to Scranton... He’s so loud i hear him on the radio broadcast, yelling in an opposing team’s stadium, at their own players. Dude is a wild one, a legend. When the Mets took over the Syracuse team he was over the moon, he’s from Brooklyn and a lifelong Mets fan.
I've only been to three AAA stadiums: Sugar Land, Round Rock and Louisville. Louisville was the best, by far. I hope to go someday to El Paso and Albuquerque.
El Paso Google Earth doesn’t show the recently built 10-story Marriott hotel across the street in CF. It’s a great addition. There’s plenty of photos of the vantage point on Yelp.
The Dell Diamond is an amazing stadium to be in. It can be 100 and it feels.10 degrees cooler. Nolan Ryan lent his nickname to the team and his sons run it and he does come occasionally.
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums So you intentionally wanted to sound ignorant? Gotcha. From your accent, you might want to stick to soccer, or cricket, & leave American baseball to us in the US. Especially those of us actually who played, coached, & or worked in Pro Baseball. Cute video though.
Salt Lake has had three baseball stadiums on that site. Community Park until the 1940's when it burned down, then Derk's Field was replaced by the current stadium in 1994. So when you say "the ball park" all generations know what you're talking about straight away! :) If you like baseball you should go to a game there. Even the University of Utah Utes play there even though they are supposed to get a new field for them near campus soon.
