The TRUE EVIL Dr. Doofenshmirtz! 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz Family Explained! (Phineas and Ferb) 

Out of all of backstories a villain could have. The Dr. Doofenshmirtz from the second dimension has to have the simplest and dumbest one.

Doof could 100% destroy the earth if someone killed Vanessa

Surprised you never brought this up, but the whole train backstory thing actually has a parallel with regular Doof. In episode 46 of season 2, Doof is playing with a model train set that he eventually inherited from his father because as a child he never got to play with it. For me this suggests that Doof’s other dimension father may have been more lenient with the policy of letting other Doof play with it, so he ended up being more careless when he had an engine of his own to play with. In contrast cause our Doof had very little growing up he may have been more cautious with his own toys hence why he never lost his Choo Choo and why he never had as a big of a connection to locomotives.

Doof was actual a good guy after all, even in Milo Murphy they proved it

D2 Doof was probably an only child. It seems like our Doof never really understood how parents were supposed to treat their children until he saw them loving Roger. Our Doof never got that affection, D2 did.

Just imagine how much evil Heinz would become if someone took his daughter from him. That is scary

I wouldn't even say that Doof's relationship with Charlene is better. The song makes it seem like they still disagree over everything and aren't a good match but their relationship works because the fake divorce allows them to live their lives separately without spending enough time with each other for it to fall apart.

In the second dimension movie 1st Dimension Dr.D did tell Vanessa to tell Charlene she had fun too so I think its just a Doofensmirtz thing

Imagine if Doof was as evil as 2nd doof but had the same backstory, causing him to be exponentially more evil

I do find it interesting that the 2nd Dimension Doof was more evil than our Doof, yet his backstory is very stupid. I think this exposes something greater in every one of us as human beings. When you think about it, the biggest difference between our Doof and the 2nd Dimension Doof is that our Doof was never spoiled or privileged. 2nd Dimension Doof was spoiled and given everything he wanted, so it only took losing a toy train to push him over the edge. It's stupid, but that's kinda the point. Those that are spoiled have much higher expectations and hold a higher amount of narcissism. Our Doof, on the other hand, had struggled alot and lost alot. He never got anything he wanted, so he learned to live a life of not always having everything he wants. More than that, it taught our Doof to think little of himself. Our Doof wanting to be a villain may have little to do with his wants. You always get the feeling he's not causing any harm to anyone and even his plans to rule the Tristate Area may even be, because that's his home and he wants to provide a safe and secure place for his daughter and ex wife. Even with Perry, you get the feeling that our Doof doesn't want to harm him either and does think of Perry's wellbeing. To me, our Doof comes off less like a villain and more like an Anti Hero in Villain's clothing or the opposite of a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Okay but in 2D Doof's defense, that was a really nice looking train

Considering how second dimension Doofenshmirtz acts and him saying he had a good family life, it makes me wonder if maybe he was more spoiled as a kid instead of abandoned. Got everything he wanted until the toy train was lost and couldn't accept when his parents couldn't give him his toy train. Thus normal Doofenshmirtz wanted more companionship, as shown by his relationship with his daughter and ex wife as well as with Agent P (his nemesis that he seems to actually have fun with), but 2D Doofenshmirtz wanted control, wanted everything. It also fits with some common ideas of people that had an awful childhood wanting to do better than their parents while narcissists, spoiled children end up getting greedy (these aren't perfect ideas, of course, as there's other factors). So 1D Doofenshmirtz wants a better life for himself and his daughter, even his ex wife, thus his focus on more minor issues (tedium of waiting in lines, for example) while 2D Doofenshmirtz wanted to always get what he wanted and thus focused on controlling everything

I also noticed that 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz is more cowardly, never engaging in a fight unless he has the upper hand and running and hiding when the odds are against him. Meanwhile main Doofenshmirtz may not be the bast fighter but he refuses to give up to the point where he had at least his arm bones replaces with titanium do to injuries. This might be from his rough childhood and bad luck leaving him jaded to danger.

In a weird way 2nd Doof's backstory makes sense, since he never suffered the way 1st Doof did he was never able to form empathy in the same way. Taking a look back at history it has been the privileged people who have messed things up the most.

Something I was almost sure would happen in a possible squeal to the 2nd Dimension Movie was our Dr. Doofenshmirtz realizes his toy is missing & thanks to his memory being erased on how he lost it, he starts going down the same rabbit hole of PURE EVIL that would lead him to becoming the same Evil Dr. Doorenshmirtz from the 2nd dimension.

Very fun video. Honestly the idea of a less traumatized Doofenshmirtz being more evil lines up well with our world where most bad people usually are bereft of bad experiences rather than forged by them.

Well it all started back when my parents didn't show up to my birth...

After I saw the movie and the sequel episode, I really wanted a Phineas and Ferb sequel cartoon that took place in the 2nd dimension. It would most definitely be a little bit more action oriented given the nature of the characters and the environment in which they find themselves in, but it would still have that patented brand of comedy and heart that made the OG Phineas and Ferb cartoon so goddamn amazing.

What if Doof was actually Phineas' real dad, the intelligence and weird head shape says so

Original doof: *has miserable childhood and loses his only friend, yet shrugs it off.. mostly* 2D doof: *has it all, and gets pissed when he loses his train that he can probably buy again*

Thanks to Milo Murphy's law, I have a theory as to why the main Heinz' backstory is so expansive and why some parts make no sense or have retcons *his parents being absent and the cake incident changing* I believe, his original past was just like the one from the 2nd dimension except he never lost the choo choo. BUT as we know in the main dimension, he becomes Professor time, creates time travel, etc. I believe he used time travel to change his past for the better only to see none of it actually happened. But that HE himself has to make it happen. First, he has to confront his parents right after he is born to prevent them from being there when they are given him. He tells them EVERYTHING about his future, and what they need to do to make him successful. He does change one thing, the doonkleberry cake incident. He buys or founds the animatronic birthday place and sets that party minimum to prevent him from being bat food.

So doof is barely evil with such a large amount of backstory’s yet this one is pure evil with just losing a toy, a *replaceable* toy.

Charlene married Doof because she loved evil but divorced him when she realized how NOT he was. Change my mind. Also the other Doof could be more evil because he was ‘soft’. The Doof we love experienced hardships so much, that although he’s still hurt by them he’s learned to take them at face value like you said. He learned kindness and treats his daughter kindly since he knows what it’s like to be neglected. The evil Doof though may have had more of a life like Roger, coddled, and therefore wasn’t neglected. It makes me think of a spoiled child throwing a tantrum because they didn’t get the ‘toy’ they wanted. No wonder our Doof gets mad when evil Doof tells his backstory about loosing a mere train.

One Doof who had very little so valued the things he had and loved. The other got everything and so couldn’t handle the idea of ever losing control.

I'm loving these videos looking at Doofenshmirtz, Phineas & Ferb is my second favorite show & Doofenshmirtz is one of my favorite characters, this pleases me so much.

I never would've given this animated gem a chance, if not for my youngest son's recommendation, and he was just a kid! I've enjoyed many laughs. I love the referential humor, and the spy genre satire. The songs are, sometimes, hilarious, and I'm amazed at the percentage of great characters. For sheer volume of laughs, the Simpsons edges out P & F, but it's a great contrast of humor styles.

I think I got it. It's like he had a self hate of some sort. His frustrations about losing choo choo is something that he lost because of him being careless his frustrations might be rooting for another thing that he didn't remember. What if when he lost Choo choo his parents hit him, what if when he lost choo choo he was viewed as a disappointment or yada yada yada. Because no person can be naturally evil it must stems at something

I can't remember too much of the show or alternate Doof, but I think he's more evil and successful for two things. 1. The train was the one bad thing that happened to him in his childhood. So he had less backstory baggage to distract him. Where our Doof was making Inators for just about anything. So the alt Doof was more focused on his anger. 2. His wife was also evil. Our Doof's ex-wife Charlene never seemed to know or acknowledge Vanessa's accusations of Doof being evil. So alt Charlene knew and even encouraged alt Doof's ambitions. She probably even helped him focused and find flaws in his plans so it helped him make an effective first strike in taking over the tri state area.

5:29, though in the episode where Norm (1-D) was created (Greece Lightning) Doofenshmirtz built him to eliminate Perry because “the enemy of the platypus is man” and Doof 2-D also had experience being defeated by Perry the Platypus so he might have created his Norm for a similar purpose. And in the episode Norm Unleashed, Norm came closer to conquering the Tri-State Area than Doofenshmirtz ever did so my speculation is that something similar happened in the Second Dimension and that led 2D Doof into using the Norm-Bots as his plan

I always enjoy the theme of multiple dimensions. My curiosity is hmm I wonder if Phineas and Ferb was made in 2020 what would have happened? In another dimension that did happen and things were changed because of it. That's why Across the 2nd Dimension was such a great movie as it answered some of our questions like the big one of what if Doofenshmirtz was pure evil.

Quick correction: while Doof pretended to be divorced in the 2nd dimension version, it's pretty clear their relationship was very dysfunctional in the latter half of the song. I imagine they faked the divorce not too long before they would have ended up divorced anyways

If Candace kept trying to bust Phineas and Ferb, she would have gone to the Danville Insane Asylum.

Imagine Dr. Doofenshmirtz meeting the other Dr. D. from Disney, Dr. Drakken from Kim Possible. Dr. Drakken has similarities with both regular Doof and the one from 2d dimension. It would be funny to see them together.

It seems more likely that 2nd Dimension Heiz is... for lack of a better word... spoiled. Research has proven that hardships lead to empathy. This is why rich kids that get everything they want tend to be rotten to the core, while low income children are (in general) far more generous and thoughtful. It is BECAUSE of Heinz' suffering and coming out a stronger, more considerate person that the Heinz we know is far less vicious and cruel. Because he knows what it's like to hurt, and while he's "evil" he's not PURE evil. There's still a heart in that body of his.
