Please Pray for the American Church preaches who provoke wars and suffering. Preachers forcing end times and suffering in the Holy Land is ungodly. Priests for peace, very honorable. Children suffering in famine, orphans, injuries and homeless need empathy. Our American evangelical Church leaders need compassion against human suffering and need to stop applauding these acts.

Many Evangelical pastors still teach that Israel is God's people even though Israel has turned its back on Christ and His Cross. They're still adamant and deny their own Christian heritage. In effect these Israel lobby is still creating instability in the Middle East because of this Evangelical support.

I do pray that all Christians, preachers or not, will come to repudiate all the unjust wars that rage around us. The issue is much bigger than Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It is about how Christians ought to act towards all others, enemies or not. It is good and right to forgive enemies. But in war times, the evil has spread into communities and nations, and cannot be readily separated. It is right to oppose evil; one cannot simply stand by and do nothing if one is able to prevent a murder. That principle is much more difficult to apply well in a context of war. Oppose the war, but take up arms against the aggressor? Such are the choices that sin forces upon us. We cannot have perfection until we have it together, by everyone's choice, which is why we cannot have it on Earth, for God does not separate us from each other in this world. Bishop Irenei is so right that we must continue to pursue God first, having compassion on our fellow human beings, and pursuing forceful means only as necessary to protect whom we can from the violence and bloodshed of war. We cannot make decisions about these things in absolute terms, or according to our own lights, but must do all we can to discern the paths God leads us to, and many faithful will take many different paths, yet may still be acting as God wills, for we are not all given the same gifts, nor the same discernment, nor the same crosses to bear. God bless all to seek truly and honestly and fervently for our right paths!

I am a Messianic Gentile and would like to ask how you arrived at your conclusion? Also, do you really believe that "preachers" have the authority and power to "force end times suffering in the Holy Land"? If so, what of their teachings or scripture from The Word of G-d leads you to that conclusion? Finally, are you trying to say that American Evangelical church leaders are the cause of the suffering that is happening in the Holy Land?

Saint Nikolai Velimirovich wrote an excellent book on this subject "War and the Bible". War must be a last resort and always in defense of the innocent. The Byzantine empire maintained a military and certainly found it necessary to use it. Moses and Joshua fought military campaigns where success was entirely dependent on the spiritual state of their people. It's a supremely complicated issue for us Orthodox Christians to grapple with. If the war against fascism was necessary, was war against bolshevism also necessary? What about war against Zionism or satanism? I don't know. It would seem so, but again that would depend entirely upon our own spiritual purity. Food for thought.

I grew up in the Anglican Church as a child before becoming a reformed Baptist in later years, I have now been questioning my own faith since learning more about the Eastern Orthodox Church. I have felt disconnected from God for many years until I found Orthodoxy, now I not only feel connected to God, but I now love Christ like I have never loved before, but I am scared. The one thing that scares me the most is that if I were to join and be baptized within the Eastern Orthodox Church, I will not recieve eternal life because of how the Protestant Church speaks of the Orthodox Church being heretical and full of idolatry, I don't know what to do, because I do not know what to believe anymore, please help me 😔

@ExVeritateLibertas Месяц назад
Most Evangelical and Baptist types don't even know what the Orthodox Church is (and have only a vague idea of Catholics as "pope and Mary worshippers"). There is no idolatry or heresy in Orthodoxy. The Orthodox church has historical continuity going back to the apostles -- does your Reformed Baptist parish have that? (They will claim they worship like the apostles but when did "Baptists" and Reformed theology show up? A few centuries ago only.) Things like icon veneration need to be properly understood. I suggest visiting an Orthodox parish and talking to people after the service. Also, 'The Orthodox Church' by Kallistos Ware is a classic that can help you with the historical and theological understanding of Orthodox Christianity.

I came to faith in conservative protestant church, 12 years ago. The one thing I noticed is most, if not all reformed preachers talk and preach like they are the true church and know they are the true church. But, in reality their religion began in 1517, 1500 years after Christianity actually started. Just a tad of common sense lets us know the true church couldn't have came 1500 years after the church was commissioned by Jesus. Protestantism is an empty religion, stripped of all Godly power, and they have relegated God to nothing more than words on paper. The only thing as of now that I believe was beneficial to coming to faith in a congregational church, is new believers coming to faith from atheism, need spiritual milk, and that's all protestant churches serve. And, they look exactly like the world that engulfs us, so they're comfortable for the beginners and the lukewarm.

I am a Messianic Gentile, and what you share, along with other comments, shows the source of the death of the Christian Church over thousands of years as it has broken apart from the Word and teachings of the first believers in Yeshua and the first churches like in Antioch. From the Orthodox church's saying they are the universal church, to Catholics, to Evangelicals, and on and on and on. To be direct and transparent, it is only by the hand of G-d, His mercy, grace, and love, that there are no wars raging across the world between the different denominations of "Christianity". That said, I do believe that such a time is approaching, as taught and prophesied in the New Testament.

I think it is good to remember that St. Augustine wrote about the possibility of a "Just War." He wrote centuries before the Schism between the East and West. Additionally, the Byzantine Empire waged war against the Persians and Muslims in defence of Christian civilization. Hence, the Just War theory was not per se an invention of Medieval Western or Latin Christianity.

I couldn't agree more, and that is why Matthew 12:6 and Romans 12:18 are so important. We are called to live in peace but not to live in this world as lambs. We are called to spread His Word while defending His Word. If a brother or sister is being attacked, whether in words or actions, we are called to protect them no matter where they are.

I was about to mention this so I’m glad I saw your comment first. We must remember I think that there was a war in Heaven. St. Michael and the other angels fought and threw down Lucifer and the other rebellious angels. That was a “holy war” . A holy war is only taken up when one must defend Christ and his Church , the Body of Christ. If defending Christian pilgrims is not holy, then what is?

What is also telling is how modern Christianity preaches peace at all costs but directly supports terrorists, silences those who disagree with them, and dictates support for non-Biblical and sinful cultures/acts under the threat of punishment. I wish I could love your comment 1,000,000,000 times. Western Christianity of all denominations has surrendered and submitted itself to the culture of the world and Islam. While brothers and sisters in Christ sacrifice their lives in places like Africa, the Levant, Middle East, Southwest Asia, East Asia, and Australia, the Western culture of individualism, decadence, immorality, cowardice, and the love of weakness continues to infect and destroy the body of Christ in the West. This was foretold in the Bible throughout the New Testament and we are seeing it in these End of Days.

Can we? Should we? Must we? These are the questions of bloodshed. We always can in the sense that we are physically capable of it, but we definitely should not, less we are given no other choice for the preservation of life & freedom of God’s creatures. From an ancient point of view war is to the Nation what vigorous exercise is to the mind and body. To quote Heraclitus, -War is the Father of all things. And indeed this is so as we have war to thank all of our advancements in technology and medicine, from a metaphysical aspect war is much more important than these mere material things, for an individual to sacrifice himself for the good of the whole in this temporal life Is his highest honor and most difficult test of his spirit. In war this opportunity can be found. It is for this reason, in all traditional civilizations war was a sacrament, a noble sacrifice. Without a test of character the individual becomes weak as does a nation and thus becomes vulnerable to its enemies. There have always been and will always be wars, what defines a good war and a bad war depends on why it is waged, Is it for your God and your family? Or (as has been the case for a very long time), is it for the worshipers of Mammon those whom we call,among other names ,......"bankers"?

The bankers print, steal and loan our money supply, aka worth of every dollar, to each other, creating new money out of thin air, making the dollar worth less, making everything more expensive. Its very similar to "shaving coins", and we know who did that for sure. I pray Christians quit living in their heads and live in the real world, where the end of suffering takes real, decisive action, action against the real people who actually commit these evils, because they have real names and real addresses.

Yes, war participates in Sacred Time. Though war should have a transcendent purpose; that is, beyond base and material interests. We can make the distinction between the Greater War (spiritual warfare/true war/holy war) and Lesser War (exoteric war) where the esoteric war is always above the exoteric war. Orthodoxy emphasizes spirtitual war but has provisions for exoteric war only if it is for the defense of the faith, family, country or preventing greater evil from arising. The true war is the inner war against the world. St. Athanasius: "...it is not permitted to commit murder, but in wars it is both lawful and praiseworthy to destroy one’s enemies, so much so that those who displayed valor in war are deemed worthy of the highest honors, and monuments to them are erected to proclaim their achievements (Letter to Amoun)." St. Basil the Great: "Our Fathers did not consider murders committed in the course of wars to be classifiable as murders at all, on the score, it seems to me, of allowing a pardon to men fighting in defense of sobriety and piety. Perhaps, though, it might be advisable to refuse them communion for three years, on the ground that they are not clean-handed (Canon 13). So, again, war is evil and while we Christians would prefer peace, war is an inevitability and, given the correct context, we must do our duty. Of course, that war ought to have a transcendent purpose requires that civilizations to have a sacred core but we live in the wake of the Death of God and there exists no transcedent foundations for the socio-cultural order. Modern wars posit no transcendent purpose other than that which is in service to certain groups or the spread of false gods (democracy, liberalism, etc).

For clarity, in 1938 Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany (Axis) invaded Austria and then in 1939 it invaded Poland, marking the beginning of World War II in Europe. If that's what you mean by "I don't think it (WW2) was justified", I fully agree. Nazi Germany (Axis) had no justification to invade Austria in 1938; Poland and Czechoslovakia in 1939; Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, and attack Britain in 1940; Yugoslavia, Greece, and the Soviet Union in 1941; Tunisia in 1942. Also, Fascist Italy (Axis) had no justification for invading Egypt in 1940. Of note, Muslims in the Middle East aligned with and supported Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy (Axis) and their invasions in the Middle East, Egypt, and North Africa. Finally, Nazi Germany had no justification for exterminating over 6 million Jews (of which the Muslim Mufti of Jerusalem, Hajj Amin al-Husayni, an Arab nationalist and prominent Muslim religious leader, was a key collaborator and architect with Henrich Himmler to devise and carry out "the final solution". Of note, Hitler stated that Nazi Germany would not intervene in internal Arab matters and that the only Nazi German “goal at that time would be the annihilation of Jewry living in Arab space under the protection of British power.”) who lived in Europe and over 5 million Christians and prisoners of war, Again, if you're referring to all of that as there being no justification for Nazi Germany actions to start and continue WWII, then I agree with you.

This practice was also known as épuration sauvage, or savage purge, and was started by a group of vigilantes. Women were often the first targets because they were considered the easiest scapegoats.
