They told me I was crazy, but I have seen the truth. The universe is balanced on the back of a giant humpback whale. Why is she singing? What does she know?

I wanted to say something about how Q once said that the Q had always existed since the beginning of time itself, but it seems that might not be as clear as it sounds: this is from memory alpha: " The exact circumstances of how the Q came to exist was unclear. While Quinn stated that the Q were once not unlike humanoid lifeforms, Q implied that the Q never came into existence, but rather always were. (VOY: "The Q and the Grey") " Since we all know that everything that happens and is told in star trek is Cannon, the only possible explanation for all of this is: The sperm whale started on earth, they then evolved into gormaganders which allowed them to fly into space, since being a whale in space can be quite boring(Lack of hands etc.) they decided to evolve the ability to turn into the ancient humanoid's of TNG's the chase. you might think that being able to turn into a gormagander whenever you feel like it is a great party trick, since they all had this ability it got old fast, and so they decided to mix their own DNA with random animals they found the galaxy to make some inferior beings that were able to appreciate their abilitys (that's why they were called sperm whales; foreshadowing). this is why they eventually founded the "Cirque de Domain", a circus with which they toured through the galaxy showing off their shapeshifting skills, and showed off their trained Vorta-monkeys and "The incredible Beast of Jem'Hadar". But one by one the inferior humanoid started to ban the use of animals in circuses, the Founders even tried genetically engineering the animals into being able to give consent, but the inferior humanoids claimed that being genetically engineered to follow your master's every word is not the same as consent. because the founders were no longer allowed to put on circus shows, they all got very depressed and melted into a literal puddle. until one day they decided to conquer the entire galaxy to abolish it's anti-circus laws. they did a great job until one day some dude named sisko locked them up in a wormhole, where they remained for the rest of existence... because the founders would now be locked away in the wormhole forever and never perform their circus tricks ever again, they started to hate their lives. over the years they found ways to manipulate the world outside of the wormhole and planned their revenge. They send someone back into the regular world and give birth to Benjamin Sisko, giving him the worst punishment possible: life. but then they found out Sisko had a son and a wife and had a wonderful life, so they decided to throw him into the pit of hell instead. after this they stayed in the wormhole, until eventually the universe ended, and they were free at last. after the universe ended it was replaced by the exact same one. the spermwhales/gormaganders/founders/prophets now had access to shape-shifting powers, timetravel powers, and general-godlike powers and became known as the 'Q'. oh and also, sisko's mom is still around but she has the kinda thing like when white people say that all Asians look the same but with humans instead. that's why she calls the humans a brutal savage child race. sisko's mom is John de Lancie's Q. this makes that scene where Q lays in bed with picard kinda weird, because she still thinks picard is sisko. or atleast that's my Headcanon

This is so nonsense, but, somehow, on some level, it makes sense. I feel like this could be an in universe conspiracy theory. Also, I've long since thought Q's race was linked to humanity somehow or was humanity, this would give that link. Watch out, Discovery writers might steal your arc and accidentally write a good season for once. Actually, scratch that, the writers for Discovery will never write a good season. But we can hope.

This is interesting, but I feel it's a bit over-thought. That a species of whale might get to such a point is one I'll gladly concede: I think there is a whale, or whale-like creature, in that probe. This suggests, even while we don't see it, that the probe Must use some kind of FTL drive or even a StarGate type of "jump" technology. WE are not alone in this thinking: I Heartily recommend the novel CACHALOT by Alan Dean Foster. Premise: Earth, realizing its mistake, transports all remaining Cetaceans to a water-planet and pretty much leave them to it. The ending will surprise you, some - and then...not.

“These harsh living conditions would kill us within a generation so we somehow evolved over the thousands of years it would take to develop even though, as previously stated, the conditions to force this change would have killed us. Also, you’re going to find plenty of fossils that reflect the original form and evolved form but all the ones in between are going to disappear and you’ll never find any. Plus everything will at one point just stop evolving since the fossils of contemporary animals dating back thousands of years are exactly the same as the ones that are here now even though in order to evolve other forms of life would’ve needed to be constantly changing in order to survive and would have noticeable changes within 1000 nonetheless 10,000 years even if it takes 6 million years to completely evolve.“

There was a Star Trek book 'Probe' that covered the origins of the probe rather well. The crew of the Enterprise had to confront it when the Federation received a distress call from the Romulans after the Probe started doing what it did to Earth to a Romulan colony world. It even implied it ran across the Borg, which were the only species that was able to do any harm to it.

There may be another alternative as well. They could have also been an alternate sentient lifeform that the legendary "Preservers" chose to rescue. They saw that this creature could evolve and perhaps even surpass what humans that the Preservers also rescued could accomplish. So they placed them on another ocean world. Perhaps even the world Voyager encountered where an entire planet's ocean was drained off the main planet and was reorganized into a gigantic forcefield held in orbit. Also, while the book is not canon, there is a reference to the Cetacean Probe, and it is radically different from the explanation in the video. In the book "Probe" it was confirmed by Spock, who had managed to meld with the probe, that it was built by a race of "Super Dolphins" that had been cruelly attacked by a "machine race" (The Borg) and their sun was made colder as an act of possibly spite by the Borg for either not submitting to them, or they managed to hold them off. They destroyed their moon, and began the "Second Winnowing" and summarily created the Cetacean Probe. It was designed to locate others of their race, and to hopefully ascertain if there are successful pods on other worlds. But the probe was also damaged by a Borg attack and the crystalline memory of the probe badly damaged. It did not consider humans or other species as intelligent, often referring to them as "mites". Spock convinced the probe to continue its search, but also to analyze the worlds for evidence of intelligent life and to control it's "whale call". Also, the probe is indicated to not only be FTL capable, but also having a speed that while slower than transwarp, is extremely fast at Warp 37. Also, in an alternate reality (Terran Empire) the same mission was attempted and while they were able to acquire two humpback whales, the whales apparently conveyed their suffering and the cruelty of the Empire to the probe and instead, this time it "transformed" the two humpback whales into massive war capable "death machines" who before being destroyed by Emperor Spock, they ravaged the entire Terran coastline and killed tens of millions worldwide.
@deathstrike
@deathstrike Год назад
Also, and while this is NOT part of Star Trek in any way, this seems to roughly fall in line with the famous Taito game "Darius". Where the humans of the former planet Darius were driven off by a tyrannical marine race led by a being called "Belzer". All of the ships of Belzer seem to all be shaped in some form of marine life. And the largest and most powerful ship known as "GT" or "Great Thing" is a monstrous Blue Whale that actually imitates the movement and fluidity of a whale all while being entirely a machine.

Here is an idea. What if the marine mammals like whales and dolphins were explorers from somewhere in the galaxy or even from outside this galaxy. They were a colony set up here after the Earth was ready to support their form of life. And when the home world lost contact with their colony they sent out a ship to find out what happened to it. That's when they came in contact with the Federation and the Romulans as it traveled to Earth. Their comms put out so much power that the only way to tamp it down was to send it into a very specific saline density like the oceans on Earth because it was very similar to their home world. But that's how I look at it, the story got picked up in the novel Probe that continued the story with Kirk and the gang. And of course the Romulans tried to destroy it if they couldn't control it.

@ThePodVon
@ThePodVon 2 года назад
It's not just speculation as some whales still have hip bones and vestigial femurs. Convergent evolution manifests a change of form to suit an environmental niche but it doesn't change the nature of the creature. Hence dolphins (mammals), ichthyosaurs (lizards), and swordfish (fish) all have very similar forms but otherwise conform to the norm for their Class. Perhaps the Star Trek whales who left did so instead of going back into the oceans like their remaining brethren.
