I signed up to Britstops got the same book as you. We use it as a guide, it's really good to have in your van. But I never been asked to show the book either and I've been told buy landlords and landladys that they don't really care if you have the book or not. But it is fair that you buy a drink or have a meal for letting you stay.
I've just signed up to Brit Stops so thought to check RU-vid and found your video. Great to hear your experience with it. Might make the Vinyard our first stop this weekend as it's not far from us. I was kind of wondering whether the staff at all these pubs would know what I'm on about when I call up mentioning I'm signed up to Brit stops, hopefully will be straight forward enough. Agree totally with spending some money where we stop and most of the time when we go to a campsite we have a meal somewhere each day, sometimes lunch or evening so best way to look at it is you're just paying for a meal rather than a meal and the camp site fees. With some campsites charging so much, often £20+ and often offering no facilities, just a car park for the night it makes much more sense to try Britstops.
The Vineyard was such an amazing stop. Also lots of options on how to give back there as they have shops, do breakfast and lunch. When we went there they didn’t do dinner as closed around 5:30. This was good though as made for a very peaceful evening. Have fun 😊
Interesting to hear. We've never had Brit Stops. Being in a larger van we thought it best to use park 4 night and search for sites, pitch up and campsites and we've just carried on in the same way really. We've only ever done one pub stop and definitely found it more expensive than a campsite or paid for park up.
Yes a lot of Brit Stop sites are size limited unfortunately. Pub stops do often cost more than a Campsite but as the meals included and we usually eat out on a campsite overall it works out around £25 cheaper per night than site plus food if that makes sense. Hop you are both well :)
Hey guys xx really lovely upload with fair and honest reviews xxx I completely agree with you re not being exclusive it seems such a shame as the idea is brilliant xx
For my recent 10 day vanlife vlog trip I used 'Park 4 Night' which was a bit of a pain, they should change the name to park for day. So many places you cant stay now. becomes very frustrating. The isse i had with Britstops is some only have 1 or 2 spaces and you have to ring ahead and they don't always answer. 40 quid.. nar, I prefer the adventure of not knowing.
Lovely vlog guys, how much is the membership for the BRIT STOPS book? We would be interested in buying a membership just for the Vineyard stopover lol! 😁 You both look well and we can't wait to see you all in a few weeks. Lilly is so funny having Mummy carry her .. bless 🥰 xxxx
Its £30 something I think. Hold fire though as you can stay at the Vineyard without the book for a tenner (hence the frustration at the scheme not being exclusive as its advertised as) Can't wait to see you guys too :)
Glad it was helpful! It’s lovely to get comments knowing our content has helped someone 😊 hope you enjoy the scheme and stay at lots of lovely places 😊
Hi there. We are new to this game. Having only bought our first motorhome last November. We have now traded that one in for a newer / better motorhome (but that's another story). We bought the Britstops book. I do like that it now comes with access to an App too. But we have not been to a Britstops place yet. I did not realise that it is just places where you can stay for free. Apart from the buying drinks and meals thing. I originally thought it was full of places that didn't charge a great deal to stay at. I did not know they are free. I wonder if they are shooting themselves in the foot, by insisting that pubs etc should offer free stays. EG we recently stayed a couple of nights at a pub near Ambergate, Derbyshire. They charge just £10 a night and have EHU and Fresh Water. But no waste water or toilet disposal. I was telling the landlady about Britstops. It was then that I found out that to be in the book, a pub etc must offer free stays for campers and motorhomes etc. I am not sure its a good idea that Britstops does not allow hosts that charge a small fee to stay, to be included in the book. The pub we stayed at was great. They had a massive car park with room for 2 motorhomes and EHU. They deserve to be better known throughout the camping community. Its a pity that because they charge £10 a night, they cannot get themselves into the Britstops book.
Ok. You pay the £40. And find where you want to go Ring them. “. Oh yes Please park round the back car park. “. Ok. Car park not set up for Motorhomes or big Motorhomes. Yes you can get water only this is The tat is right round other side of pub in the private House department ie no parking with Motorhome . Most Motorhome would want at least 25ltrs. And the Guinness was £6.80. Do that place is out for no return. !!!! Other places I’ve stayed at are much better Oh. Had to wait ages to get served. No way of contacting Britstops As complaint Seems to me one would be on your own should anything series happen. !!!! Wish You Well.
Really interesting guys! Having only done one britstops so far ( with yourself 🤩🚐🍷) we’ve not had the opportunity to experience all the different scenarios so thanks for sharing 👍🤩 love Lilly and Tessie such stars ⭐️
Yes this was definitely a Lilly and Tessie special. Think they are upstaging me a bit too much 😂 glad we went to the Vineyard with you guys. Be good to do another one next year at some point 😊
