Ya you know, I'll bet that everyone that made those stupid idiotic comments have never even rode or owned a dirtbike at all. How the hell do you think the pro riders can go thru the gears so fast? It's a proven fact that almost anything with a manual transmission can be shifted without a clutch and when done right it absolutely will not hurt it one bit!

bro im 100% with you. I rarely use the clutch to change gears, when im just cruising i might without knowing but most commonly when riding hard or racing ill just bang gears while on full throttle without using the clutch, with 127 hours of doing that on a 450 it still has no signs of wear. ITS LITERALLY IN THE MANUAL THAT THE CLUTCH IT USED TO "MODULATE THE POWER" not change gear. Amazing video as always man

@H4nssoon

When I saw that video I felt that it has to be damaging your transmission to shift without clutch. Same thing as alot of other people were thinking. Instead of commenting though I did some research and it turns out I was wrong. I think the reason is alot of people like me (Who doesnt know exactly how a transmission works) have kind of the same theory about what's going on in the transmission when you're pulling the clutch or changing gears. But the point is we obviously doesnt know how it works and I don't get why some people are trying to argue about something they don't understand until they've done atleast some research.

I agree with you on this, if done properly, clutchless shifting is a breeze and wont damage anything, using clutch excessively wears plates, springs and generates alot of unwanted heat.

I’ve been riding since I was 7 or 8 and I was taught by my dad who was a mechanic to not use clutch while shifting and and downshifting. I’m 44 now and after numerous bikes included dirt bikes and Harley’s I have never had a transmission go bad. I think those people don’t know any better but think they know everything! Lol

Had a feeling this video was bound to pop up haha. I was rather fed up with replying to people who wanted to argue why clutchless shifting is bad on a bike when they couldn’t provide any logical conclusion as to why it is necessary to use the clutch while shifting. But you made a great point in this video. Ride your own bike how you want to, shift how you want to. I tried to explain to people that if you don’t use the clutch while shifting, it’s not going to cause any harm. But some people will still argue until they are blue in the face for no other reason than to feel the satisfaction that they are somehow superior in their self-proclaimed knowledge. Can’t please everyone I suppose.

Its actually benefitial less friction on clutch plates means less heat and less clutch dust floating in the engine oil. If you want to long life of your engine dont use clutch to change gears.

@rocheman3771
@rocheman3771 4 года назад
R G the transmission on dirt bikes is designed to be that way, most cars like economy vehicles won’t let you do this because the way the transmission is set up. Not using the clutch is faster and easier no matter who you are, and if you’re using a vehicle there are gonna be parts that get damaged over time regardless. After driving thousands and thousands of miles eventually your engine is gonna give up, even if you never beat on it, because that’s just what happens. Whether you’re shifting with or without the clutch on a dirtbike, the transmission is designed specifically so you don’t have to use the clutch. You’re gonna cause damage to the transmission little by little when you use the clutch or not anyway because the clutch is a friction plate, when it collides together it grinds away little by little

I'm currently building a slider (speedway bike) for my son. You don't have a traditional gear shift because when the bike is crossed up and laid down in the corners, there's no room for your foot. The up shift is spring-loaded on a cable to a handle bar lever separateto the clutch lever. You physically can't use the clutch to shift gears with this set up. All the people arguing with you in the comments just don't know what they're talking about dude. You tried to.teach them but they chose ignorance.

You're not wrong about car Transmissions. You just don't know that there's two different types of car transmission. When is called synchromesh it also utilizes Synchro rings that slow the input shaft for easier shifts. The other transmission is unsynchronized like transmission in a road tractors. And just about all heavy equipment. Synchronize Transmissions cannot be shipped without pushing in the clutch. Unsynchronized Transmissions can be shifted if you unload and match RPMs. Speed shifting. The biggest problem between the two is the synchronizers. The synchronizers have to slow the transmission down on a synchronized transmission because of the cut on the gear it's a bevel cut much quieter transmission also. Unsynchronized transmission do not have synchronizers and are straight cut gears much louder Transmissions. You don't want your car to sound like a tractor going down the road this is why you have bevel cut gears with her much quieter and consumers don't like noise or notchy shifting Transmissions. There are some constant mesh car Transmissions that you can skip gears in but it's done in the linkage not inside the transmission. And I believe Formula 1 Transmissions are may just like bike Transmissions I think don't hold me to it

Haven’t had a single person come up with a reasonable scenario where someone has fried their transmission by shifting without the clutch. It’s total bs that you always have to use the clutch. And good on you coming back on those that obviously don’t quite understand how an motor bike gearbox and clutch works….not expert but an engineer that’s been working on engines and gear boxes for 35 years so seen a bit! But it really not that hard to understand…to change gear it’s all about on loading the gears…and that can be done different ways which you kindly explained very well….and even truck drivers and tractor drivers does it…. I do a bit of it all depending on how and where I am driving.

It amazes me how many people think not using your clutch will destroy your clutch.. That's like saying not driving your car will put miles on it. If it's going to destroy anything it's your transmission but it won't destroy it any quicker than if you did use the clutch.. Pulling the clutch and letting off the throttle do exactly the same thing. The transmission will die eventually either way.

People are funny, it is simple, With rev limiter’s on the new four stroke you can just hold the throttle fully open and put a screw in it so it stays there. Then you can sit with the clutch or without it doesn’t matter you just have to hang on. So it’s really a matter of opinion whether not use the clutch as long as you hold the throttle wide open you just go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go you can change speeds simply by switching gears faster or slower will depend on your ratios.

The clutch is for riding of and stopping indeed also its for people who dont know what the fuck they are doing 😅 so they dont break shit if its your first time out i recomend using it all the time until you know your bike.

the real reason you can shift without a clutch is because the gears are straight cut with no sincronizers. car tranys are angle cut and have to have sincronizers witch requires a clutch to mesh the gears. it wont hort the tranny to shift clutchless if you match rpm with ground speed. but if you force the shift it will end up chipping a gear. but it boils down to straight cut gears or a angle cut gear weather you can shift clutchless. thats it no other way will work.
