Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time RU-vidr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. *Just a quick note, I will definitely try the foundation with a damp sponge next, as that's my preferred way to apply foundation. The only reason I didn't in this video is because I wanted to try their new face brush. I would also suggest applying the blushes to your hand first and then dipping a brush or damp sponge into it before applying to your face. That's what I normally do and it works best for me. Again, I only applied them directly to my face because that's what elf was recommending in the directions (but I don't think that's the best way).*

I recently purchased the Wet N Wild tinted hydrator skin veil, have heard many say they love it and they are correct. It is wonderful, it is definitely light coverage but the finish on my 71 year old skin is wonderful.

WHOA, completely agree that fair cool color is OFF. No one's skin is that color. It's so saturated it is going to look way too dark on any fair person

The CC Cream packaging reminded me of the Lancôme Skin Feels Good Skin Tint, I was hoping it was a nice, affordable comparison. I love the Heimish BB Cream, it has become my go to for my lazy days when I want something on my skin that isn't foundation or too full coverage on the skin. The liquid blushes look good, I like that they aren't too pigmented, and easy to blend.

Dusty rose should be called dusty peach! Even their concealers pull orange on me, so I've always gone to NYX or Revlon for my base.

I really hate this confusion around the color mauve. It's supposed to be a cool muted purple, but I've seen such a huge range of colors all claiming to be mauve. This one has to be one of the worst lol it's wayyyyyyyyyyy too warm to be considered mauve

I didn’t bother trying the first Elf CC Cream because the IT cosmetics one it was duping looks HORRIBLE on me. It looked cakey, dry, mask-like…no matter how I applied it or what type of primer I used. I remember being just flabbergasted at how bad it was for me 😂 So I’ll probably pass on this iteration, but the blushes look great!!

I knew it would be pertinent to see a review before buying the foundation. The last two neutral foundations I got from them leaned very orange and inexpensive or not, it’s still money lost. I already bought four blushes so I’m glad to see they’re manageable. I think they need to work on their shades because a lot of them leaned orange-peachy. Hey Jen! Love the video, but I don't think either product would work for me. Chemical sunscreens or blends are not something I trust on my skin, and liquid blushes are simply beyond my skill level. I like creams and powders, and I've got plenty of both. But what interests me are those brushes. I don't wash brushes nearly often enough - who does? - so I'd like to stock up on good, serviceable brushes for cream products. I wish Elf would bring back the Domed Stipple, or even the Small Stipple brush... You're looking lovely as ever! Thanks for the video, and Happy Whatever You Celebrate! Always appreciate your honest and in-depth reviews. Nice to see the blush held up after a full day. Too bad the hydrating CC cream didn’t sit well on the skin as I was hoping it would be a better version than the original CC. I did think the hydrating camo concealer to be much better than the original concealer. Shame this isn’t the same

Not saying for sure, but sometimes if I use a brush with a thicker foundation, it will sit on top of my skin. If I go back over it with a damp sponge, it helps it sink in. 🤷‍♂️

The first elf CC cream I HATED. Thank you for trying this out, but it's a no go for me. On a side note I'm not sure how they're mixing chemical sunscreen with physical sunscreen because that doesn't work when you apply them separately. You have to apply the sunscreen that matches the make up of your foundation. Either oil-based or water-based. Those blushes do intrigue me however, every single color looks great on you! I think I would start with the mauve

The elf cc creams just seem like misses. I couldn’t find any colors that worked for my very fair skin & it was a thick mess. This one seems really similar to the original. But those blushes look good! This was so helpful.

I bought the Peach Perfect blush shade and found the formula, color, and applicator shape to be very similar to the Saie liquid blush in Peachy. Peach Perfect is a bit more neutral tho.

When I use my rare beauty liquid blush I put a drop on my hand, swirl out on my brush, then apply to cheeks. That way I can control what I get. That might help.

I mentioned at the end of the video that I was planning to put them on my hand first next time. That's what I usually do, but for this video I was applying them the way elf suggested in their directions. :)

The 120 N camo cream reminded me of the horrible foundation we wore in the 80’s when colour selection was very limited! I can still picture the orange mask some girls had because they didn’t blend it down their neck. 😂😂😂

The blushes look interesting to me...they look beautiful on you. I'll probably skip the Camo CC. For application I've begun using a slightly dampened sponge on all my foundations as the end result is better for my dry skin. I'm ready for ELF to stop duping so much and come out with some original ideas...I do like a lot of their products but am ready fir some originality.

Thank you for cheek swatching all of the cheek colors. I see warmth in EVERY shade (pretty common these days). At best 1 or 2 might be considered neutral. Having pink in the name doesn’t make something cool. Many pinks have warm/yellow tones in them. This is very helpful, will be skipping both 😊MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family!

The camo concealer didn’t work for me back in the day and the hydrating camo concealer with my dry skin was just as dry to me. So I’m not surprised that this cc cream isn’t that hydrating unfortunately 😢

I really like the coral and orange blushes on you - really looked so pretty on you! I would like to try one of the lighter shades as a base for a softer powder blush. Good to know that the blushes dry down. I just never like the ELF Camo foundations. Thanks for your reviews on these!

@@gisellespringerI’m medium tan and tried the shade berry well. It’s way too pigmented for me. Giving clown cheeks! I like blushes that show up but can be built up vs these that immediately made me look like I had a rash. So if you’re looking for pigment try that shade. Not sure how dark you are though - but if you’re tan or med-dark it might work

120N in the original Camo CC Cream is my PERFECT shade. Unfortunately, the original Camo CC Cream started breaking up on my face in a matter of 1-2 hours (I have normal-oily, acne-prone skin with my t-zone being the oilest part of my face). I was really hoping they had fixed those issues with this new formula, but alas it seems that they have not. I will stick with the Wet N Wild Tinted Hydrator because that is gorgeous! The blushes definitely show some promise. I really like Suave Mauve and PInky Promise for everyday. Comin' In Hot Pink and Coral Crush are such fun shades for an extra pop!

Hi, Jen! Thanks so much for the 411 on the new ELF blushes. I love the colours, and I think I can wear most of them. I do like the ELF original formula CC cream. It just seems to work well with my skin, so I think I'll try the new one, too. I'm just not that fond of regular foundation anymore, especially full coverage. THAT makes me look like I'm wearing a mask, and it's so heavy. I'd rather just wear light to medium formulas. With combination skin, it feels more comfortable. My skin is drier in winter and oiler in summer. Of course, I broke out until I was 40 years old! I know, insane, isn't it? Just a thought: have you fonsidered trying the new ELF CC cream over face primer? Maybe it would work better that way. I like the ELF liquid putty primer. It doesn't feel sticky, and my makeup seems to adhere pretty well to it. Oh, a quick follow up. I've been using the ColourPop brow pen as I'd mentioned, and it looks FANTASTIC! It really looks natural, so I can thicken up my brows from the stupid overplucking I did in the 90s. Remember that?🙄 But I'm using Soft Brown, and it blends in perfectly with my dark brows. I hope you get to try it, and I hope it works out for you! You'll have to let me know. BTW, I believe it's less expensive than the NYX Lift and Snatch.(yay!) I hope you and your family have a great Christmas. Not sure yet if we're going to have snow; it's certainly cold enough!🥶

C’mon elf, you’re killin me! Although you might be able to salvage the CC cream by using an eye primer on your nose or anywhere it goes on patchy. I’ve tried that and it’s a good tip.

I think I will try the blushes and brushes. The lightest peach color blush looks like work when the next color up goes on more easily and seems like the same color without the work. That foundation looks like a bust tho if primer is used might be different but off the bat did not do you chin any favors. WHAT we do without you Jen!!!

Oh, no! If it's picking up on dry skin, I won't be able to use it. I ordered it a couple days ago. My skin is so incredibly dry in the fall and winter, that the Wet N Wild Dewy foundation is literally the only foundation I can wear in the cold months. Also, I did not like the original.

I love your brows!! Your shape is so similar to mine.. I am not sure how to fill mine in as good as yours... Thanks for always being honest with us that goes a long way for me personally.. I love elf but have used the last cc foundation and it also looked makeup like and my pores looked super enlarged and it wore horrible thru the day .. What a year elf has had! I bought three of the blushes and tried one out for the first time today. It was love at first blush, LOL, and I immediately jumped back on the website and got one more color along with some other items that I wanted to try. I’ve tried a few things from Elf but the brand is just not for me. I did try the radiant camo concealer and did not like it at all. I’ve tried the blushes and bronzers as well and again, just didn’t like them. However, always appreciate your content. Happy Holidays 💚❤️

Jen, my 150C was exactly like yours. I was shocked! It was orange! I mentioned when I tried it too, lol. But When it went on it didn't look super orange. Very weird though!

Jen! I’m always late but never absent🙂 so much work is not good for the brain. I’ve got a caseload of papers and I keep trying to make sense of them…that ELF in 120 is my color- but I don’t wear it cause it disappears in a few hours. I usually wear the Laura Mercier moisturizing tint. How much are the liquid blushes/ ELF is a master of hiking prices and consumers don’t even notice.

I didn't like the original Camo CC Cream. I actually returned it b/c I really didn't work for me. I love the looks of the blushes. I've never been a big cream/liquid blush, bronzer, etc. user but as I get older I am enjoying them more and more especially in the winter. My skin isn't particularly dry (or oily) but it seams to need a little more moisture in the winter.

I still LOVE the Revlon ColorStay Oily/ Combo, even though I have crazy dry skin in Ivory. It’s one of the few color matches I have (Missha #13 is perfect!).

Interesting. I actually like elf's camo cc cream. I do think the shades are a little off, but I still have a match. I prefer to use this with no primer and less is definitely best.

I never liked their matte version, super dry and cakey 😬 I was hoping this was going to be similar to the IT Cosmetics CC Nude Glow, which is also one of my favorite foundations ever, but after watching your review this is a pass for me 🙅‍♀️ the blushes look good but I already have like a million blushes and only two cheeks to wear them 😆... thnx for the review Jen! @@angeladesilva7913 I tried the original yrs ago, I remember it being heavy and more full coverage, the Nude Glow has a medium coverage but it's lightweight and hydrating, perfect for my dry skin

@neneg.4264 which reminds me I’m going to Project Pan the original and test out the Hydrating one. Also I was just saying that as well about the Original one. I only had less than a pump… I was looking casket ready. And my problem area are my raccoons lids/circles

Idk if it’s me but most of those blushes look way too warm for me. Maybe it’s just my phone. Also the elf brushes have been my fav for years. I’ve been using the foundation brushes for cream blush and bronzer, and the ultimate blending brush for my foundation going on about 4 years. My all time favs. Also, definitely a pass for me on the foundation as I have super dry skin so it’s for sure going to cling to dry patches where I have so many options that don’t show my patches 😅

Aw thank you so much for watching!! :) My scalp is completely healed now and the hair is starting to grow back. It was slow at first but it's finally filling in.

Do you have the Juvia's Place liquid blushes? I'm curious how they compare to those. I bought the elf liquid blushes when they launched. For some reason, they were 30% off, so I bought 4, but now I want that hot pink one. I have a couple of the Juvia's Place ones in my Ulta cart but I'm wondering if I can skip them. I really wanted the Sweet Berries one from Juvia's Place.

The Juvia's Place are similar but I think the lighter shades are more pigmented than the elf. The deeper elf shades are similar to the Juvia's. They both have a similar texture also!

The swatches of blushes on Ulta are no where close to your swatches or try on. It’s so hard to select colors when companies don’t use photography that captures the true shades

I actually ordered the new foundation asap since I'd always wished it was more hydrating. Same color as the regular CC creams I already have, BUT I didn't bother with the blush yet. I was upset the duochrome eyeshadows have been out of stock... i got some new lip stuff, but i looked at all the blushes i have, and couldnt bring myself to add to the collection... i just have so many products, both make-up and skin care that I can barely justify buying additional products unless i start a beauty channel. 😂😂

I just tried the new blush today. It's okay, but I felt like it was harder to blend that some of my others. It eventually blended out but just took more effort.

Thanks Jen for another fantastic review. Those blushes look great, but I will pass on the makeup. I use mineral sunscreen only!. Due to a spot of Skin cancer a few years ago, I will only use Isdin. Thank you for trying out ALL OF THOSE BLUSHES😴🩷👍

Elf sure couldn’t seem to get shades right with this collection. The one shade in the foundation looking straight orange instead of cool toned as it claimed. And with the blushes, they have a shade “dusty rose” that looks orange and not dusty rose at all, the shade suave mauve doesn’t look mauve either, and bronze bombshell doesn’t look all that bronze to me either. It’s funny to me that when I first tried the Original Elf CC Cream, the shade I got was too dark (a light shade) but I liked it. But then I got a lighter shade (a fair shade), I didn’t like it at al! It looked way too dry. I ended up mixing in lightener into the darker shade and it worked for me, but annoying I needed to. I’ve had the same issue with other foundations where I’ll get a shade too dark but like it so go to purchase the correct shade, but when I get it and apply it I feel like it applies different and looks drier and/or cakier. I think, not sure, but I think it’s because they use titanium dioxide pigment and will use more in lighter shades, and titanium dioxide in sunscreens can look dry and cakey on me, so I don’t know. Just my little theory as to why I’ll like a formula of something in a shade too dark but when I get a fair shade that matches me, it seems too dry or cakey and I no longer like it. Otherwise I don’t know why it happens 😂

@@JenPhelpsit’s really weird! But I started going darker too and just mixing in some white mixer because it just looks better on my skin so I’d rather do the extra step of adding white mixer than have to deal with something looking dry and yucky!

Those liquid blushes look really nice on you. Definitely some are more pigmented than others! I wish they were the same pigmentation. I worked with the glow wands and I think I have them figured out lol. Also agree with rare beauty… beautiful colors but I waaay over did it the first few times 😂😂😂 I’ve figured those out too.

I picked up the coral crush blush and it is SUPER PIGMENTED!!!! I'm not sure I like it yet!!!

I did it with the wet sponge and also dry sponge... NOT DIFFERENCE! IT just breaks off!!! :'( It doesnt hold to my skin, I already try different skin preps... Not a difference :(

I don’t see the point in BB or CC creams if the foundation has that texture, but better. The ELF blushes seem like a hit on u… beautifully ♡

Davids wife) I love this foundation. I mixed 2 colors. It’s the only foundation that I I’m not allergic to, Have tried so many. I put the primer on before.. I just love it.. sorry it didn’t work for you..

I like the ELF skin care products and some of the lip products. as far as the foundations I feel like the colors are weird. I prefer L'Oreal, Wet n Wild or Revlon foundations. as for lipstick, you can't beat Maybelline and Revlon

Do you have good recommendations for Cc creams for elderly skin? I have combination skin, dry, oily & flakey. Have you tried the Honest co. Cc cream? I would like one that conceals & hydrates without settling into lines or turning oily or Dewey or flaking off. I really enjoy your videos & I appreciate all the time & effort you put into looking into makeup that is good & affordable. For normal people!I love the price on the makeup brushes you shared🥰 Ty so much😊
