Beat the game in a week... on my way for a hundred percent. This game is one of my favorites in general. The storyline didn't lack. The small missions and little rewards you get are so great. In my opinion, id spend 60 bucks for it in a heartbeat

I played the demo and was thinking that the game is just-alright. But when I bought it, I start feeling more excited playing this game and have nothing to complain about lol

Apparently calling it HYRULE WARRIORS isn't enough. Maybe next time they'll call it Dynasty Warriors: A Hyrule Story. Maybe that way people will get it.

Huge fan of warriors style games! This game tried some really cool ideas that helped change up the formula a tad...but kept it true to form for a warriors game. Really enjoying it!

This game has a demo on the eshop and man it is fun to play. I am not a Zelda guy but definitely going to pick up a physical copy whenever I can.

I actually got my daughter to play local co-op and yeah frame rate did take a hit but the fun we had was well worth it. Always a great video!!

Man RGT can triple dip on Hyrule Warriors but not Xeboblade? Both are incredible.

My biggest problem with AoC is it's story. It's NOT a prequel, it's another branch in the timeline, and I hate it for doing that

As someone who is still deciding whether or not to purchase this game, this was very informative

I honestly think the gameplay is a lot more solid this time around. Combos are a lot more satisfying with more interaction with the enemy and even the map itself. The characters are more balanced, and are more fun to play overall. I remember the original game, there are a lot of characters I just didnt want to play because I didnt like how they felt. This time around they all feel good. Except Zelda that is. It also actually feels like some of the enemies fight back which is important to me. I also appreciate how there are less enemies that allow for them to attack you more, and also gives you a little leway to explore the map, which also yields it's own rewards. Speaking of the map, the overworld maps missions I'm replacement to adventure mode maps, is much appreciated. Upgrading things like combos is so much better this time around since each little thing gives you some kind of lore which makes the unlocking even more rewarding. This game somehow found a way to keep from feeling grindy and feels better and better as you play. Even the divine beast, which I was worried would feel gimmicky, they were a lot of fun. Something I appreciate is the game hardly forced you to play as other characters if you don't want to. Also, something this game fixed for me that I hated about BOTW, was how it took away feeling rewarded for getting cool new weapons because they break. This time around they are invincible, so we get to enjoy them. Along with the really fun blacksmithing system, it does everything it can to make combat enjoyable. Side quests and missions also keep this game alive after post game content.

The only time so far I’ve noticed a big drop in Frame rates is the divine Beast sections, everything else runs smoothly in single player. Heaps of critics are making the quality a HUGE deal when it’s not.

I just finished the story and honestly I loved it. Yes, it isn't technically canon, but I think it did a great job at telling a story. Also, the design for Calamity Ganon in this game is SOOOOO much better than in Breath of the Wild. The final few levels were really tough too.

Great review of the game! I was worried about only being tied to Breath of the Wild, as I’m not a huge fan of that game, but they did an awesome job incorporating all the different attacks. The controls feel very natural very quickly and I can appreciate that. It can be a complex game, so being able to feel comfortable with the controls right away is very important.

I’m still trying to decide if I’m bored, or having fun...I’m playing the demo

I’ll wait until this has DLC and is “complete” and hopefully a switch pro or switch 2 so this can actually run at a locked consistent fps. If it takes 1-2 years so be it. I can’t justify spending $60 on this when it’s dropping below 20 fps. I loved Hyrule Warriors btw. Have it on Wii U and Switch.

If the divine beast part is easy that kinda totally makes sense to me. They were supposed to be OP weapons of war that changed the tide of battles (obviously until Ganon did his thing..)

I’ve had zero issues with the frame-rate in the final version after the patch.

This game made me put my switch down for over a year. Frame rate was so bad. I said I’d play it when the new switch comes out. That did not turn out well.

This is my first warriors game and I think it's awesome. I'm also a huge BotW fan so this game has it all for me. I remember wishing one of the DLC packs for BotW covered the calamity so this game was a day one purchase for me. Awesome review, sir

The frame rates on this game are ridiculous and should not even been released like this. The game is great, but the performance is just atrocious at times

All of the big enemies have super armor and a buttload of health, so wailing on them is completely pointless and will just get you killed. Instead, you have to expose their weakpoint, which generally involves waiting for them to attack first and then reacting to it. Once the weakpoint is down, then you can perform a smash attack to actually deal some damage. This can be as simple as running up behind them while their weapon is still lodged in the ground from a powerful overhead swing, using a shekiah slate ability, parrying, or inflicting diabetes on them with a mcflurry rush. It's probably this mechanic in particular that interrupts the games flow and makes it feel repetitive at times. When fodder enemies are about or you're just getting from A to B, it's all go, but as soon as you run into a moblin you have to slow down and become entirely passive. Weakpoint smashing isn't always necessary if you're overleveled, enemies that don't stagger always feels off to me because it's like swatting at air. However, if you use some initiative, there are little tricks you can learn to expose weakpoints in a more proactive way, such as scoring critical hits with Link's bow, and it's cool to see just how many mechanics the team managed to carry over from BOTW.

This game is very good: You can just mash against hords of enemys but against a boss you need to think The history its really good, better than breath of the wild Each character have a different gameplay Sometimes the game becomes really challenging The cutscenes and voice acting are excellent Post game you have so much stuff to do, its great.

The greatness of this game is herein: if you’ve had a stressful day at work and want to take it out on a legion of Bokoblins without having to work too hard, this game is PERFECT.

Oh man I can’t wait until I get the game. I played the demo and I loved it so far. Easy mode is actually easy (which is very good because my eyes can play tricks in me at times and make me miss something important). And I’m exited to 100% complete the game.

Can you not advertise this game as a direct prequel of botw because it isn’t

Comparing this game to BOTW is like comparing Mario Kart to Super Mario Bros. Or comparing Super Smash Bros to Super Mario games. It makes literally 0 sense, Hyrule warriors has always been a spin off series of Zelda just like Mario kart is to Super Mario. I don't know how at the END OF 2020 people don't understand this simple concept.

It's a warriors game with a fairly decent story. But it is a warriors game through and through. One either loves or loathes that type of gameplay. I have found it EXTREMELY boring, like all other warriors game

This game's cinematic storytelling and character development made me cry more than any Zelda game so far, and that's saying something, as I've been playing Zelda games for 25 years. Love it!

Really felt like this game feels more of a story driven action game than the map-controlling and strategy driven warriors games I’ve played. There were plenty of times that a base was going to fall, but it just didn’t matter because my characters were about to reach the end of the level and the goal of managing bases just felt moot. That’s not a bad thing because I could focus more on the action in front of me in this game. And if I do want to go back to that style, there’s still a lot for me to unlock on Definitive edition. Lol

I played the demo on the e-shop and it was really fun. I loved the resemblance to breath of the wild and how similar everything looked and felt. The reason I won’t get it is because the gameplay is very repetitive, like most warriors games.

I am showing my age now but had a nes as a kid first time around. Didn’t play games for years after the megadrive and Snes era. Bought a switch a couple of years back with BOTW and it blew my mind. Incredible... It’s got me hooked on gaming. I have loved age of calamity and although its buggy there is something very arcade and exciting about it.... I know it will end soon and enjoyed the game so much I have ordered Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition. Maybe a risk but I think I will like it. In response to the thread about graphics etc... As a gamer since the 80s and also having a PS4 - gameplay and style/aesthetic is much more important to me than graphics. This is why the PS5 doesn’t really appeal. Each to their own but I found the PS4 really boring and was comparing everything to Zelda. Nothing came close to that seamless and multifaceted experience. I have also really enjoyed pokemon and mario games. There is just something iconically retro about the switch that appeals to the 80s generation. I also love the painterly style of botw... I would hate to see a really polished hyper real zelda... It just wouldn’t feel nintendo to me... Appreciate that we are all different but loving the direction the Nintendo is going in.

Not sure whether to buy this game. I played the demo and got frustrated cus I didn't know you had to make the guardian on the second level follow you in order to complete the stage. I was just running around getting bored. Is every level in the game similar or am I best skipping this one? Edit- Got it and loved it

The hordes of enemies seem paper thin like a overused gimmick of omg there's so many, but they pose no threat.

Im enjoying it more than the original hyrule warriors. Its much more streamlined and story focused. Sure, it's less characters and such but I kinda like that there's not as much content as the original, which was overwhelming and I felt like I'd never be able to complete it

I got it on launch day yesterday, I don't like Warrior type of games, but I'm really loving this, the fact That I like it, makes it a great purchase.

The meta score of 79-80 equates to a “Good” almost “Great”. I don’t think the meta score is far off. I think it’s a great game.

It looks amazing, so much to do and thats what I enjoy, you can't honestly say you "beat" these modern zelda games unless you 100% shrines, side missions, and collect all upgrades. Thats just my input, enjoy the game as a whole. For example BOTW anyone could rush to the castle and defeat ganon in an hours time but the game allows the user to determine their own experience. I can't wait to pick up Age of Calamity I appreciate the review.

The first one was already great, if they release more Content for this one it will easily surpass it.

Debating about getting this or not, i didn't much like breath of the wild. but i really love the first hyrule warriors which i loved seeing character from various zelda games meet and worked together against the antagonist. ^^

Hey I just recently made a parody animation of link using the lucky ladle (the pre order bonus) for his adventure in this game.

People who don’t understand this is a “WARRIORS game” aka a hack and slash game must hate Super Smash Brothers. They buy Smash and get let down then say “I wanted to play a Mario game when I bought Smash but instead I have to fight Cloud, Banjo, Mega Man and Pikachu ect ect I hate this game.” Hahaha It’s identical to playing Age of Calamity that is a Warriors game expecting BOTW that is a action / adventure game.

Parents have bought this for my 18th cause botw is the one game I got them interested in on a Nintendo console. They liked the plot and so we hoped this would be Canon and show the war a la infinity war with a satisfactory but depressing end. Still gonna enjoy the game but kinda upsetting that it's non Canon despite all the advertisinh

The truth is: It is a good game

I don't remember if I played the demo or not, but I pre-ordered the game and then I didn't play it for so many months after it released. Just a couple weeks ago I started officially playing the game. I'M ADDICTED TO IT. It's so fun to play the many characters, I love the story and cut scenes, the main map has so much to do while not feeling repetitive or boring. It is a fun game and I love the combat. I haven't experienced any frame rates, but might be because I don't notice it that well since I'm not much of a gamer. Or Nintendo could've fixed it in a new patch.

I got the game on release and just started playing. I enjoy how each character has their unique style on how to play, frame rates not an issue really.only gripe I have is having to use the divine I don't find those areas fun.so ya maybe an 8 out of 10 for me

The graphics is definitely an upgrade over BotW, it shows that Nintendo/Omega Force really upgraded the engine. Makes me really excited for BotW sequel.

I just finished the game today and I loved it. Even though it messes with the Zelda timeline it’s still a great game. I actually predicted the ending of the game and was totally surprised.

Grindy repetitive hack and slash gameplay with inconsistent framerate... just watch a cinematic compilation on youtube or a spoiler summary of the story and save yourself some money for next gen

While it's still on sale if I'm not a big dynasty warrior Fan will I still enjoy this enough to warrant thr 41$to55$price tag? Its between that and mario party lol I was actually having a decent time with that dynasty warriors gundam skin game on rhe game cube back in the day but it wasn't nearly as deep.. but idk maybe the original hyrule warriors is better? I haven't played either or did they not age well?
