Weight training IS hard - but as you get used to heavy weights on your back it gets less stressful, particularly as your form and mobility and experience increase. I do start thinking about my workout about 24 hours before I'm in the gym, and sometimes I experience anxiety, particularly on DL and squat days (I DL and squat twice a week) and always watch instruction videos of the lifts I'm going in for - I've increased my DL from 135 to 315 (365 from the rack) and my squat from 65 to 200 (220 parallel box squat). I turned 60 last week and have been doing this for about 1.5 years, my weight is up from 180 to 205 and I'm in better shape than ever - After a nasty pec strain about 5 months ago, i FINALLY benched 135 with more in the tank. Thanks Grant, The Strength Co. has been a GREAT asset

So true....thinking about the weights I have to lift later. There's always a little fear, a little dread, but mostly excitement. Lifting and adding weight to the bar is addicting.

I REALLY thought I was the only one who felt this way before lifting - the fear and dread :)

I am going to listen to this on my way to the gym. On repeat. 3 days a week. Exactly what I need to hear.

I just want you to know that your videos have helped me, a 46 year old woman. I will also give credit to my husband that has been lifting longer than me.

I’m doing StrongLifts 5x5, 9 weeks in and loving it but the “suck” is looming in the next few weeks, this was definitely something I needed to hear

Man I felt it yesterday. With just 280 on my back trying to work up to 3 plates, I was bailing in sets before failure because it was so damn heavy and my body just wanted it to stop. So for subsequent sets I had to fire myself up and say “I WILL finish this set and POWER THROUGH!”

Lifting singlehandedly changed my relationship with food. Nothing else was able to do it. The pleasure of lifting made it pleasurable to eat right because it meant better performance under the bar. I now eat for health and performance not to pleasure my brain.

Perfect timing on this video, I'm a novice and am noticing a very sharp increase in difficulty in just my past 2 workouts. A stark difference from the rapid increases I've been noticing since I started. All I could think to myself after last workout was, man this is hard! Haha, but I welcome the challenge and appreciate all the guidance you give Grant!

Worked out on and off since high school. Down 100 lbs plus now. Family, a bad car accident, and few surgeries can mess with you. I'm older and don't care about lifting heavy anymore. I weightlift 3-4 times a week and do cardio. You don't have to lift heavy to be healthy and any weightlifting will improve your life. Also, it does increase your energy levels and makes you feel better in life.

I'm 47 years old, lifting 2 years and I'm at the intermediate level. Can do 8 dead lifts at 350#. May never see 600#, but I'm gonna reach 400#. I haven't felt knee pain for a year. Probably because I stopped skipping leg day. Love your videos, btw.

@@ravenblood1954 If it's not my grip strength that limits my progression, it's usually getting out of breath. So enjoy your youth, you'll probably be kicking my ass in 2 years time.

But..but.. I just saw a video where it was stated that light weights for higher reps is just as effective, proven by SCIENCE! Of course it never occurs to them that in the history of humans, no one has ever squatted 500 without first squatting 300, 350, 400, 410, 420…
