Is this area of Mexico affected by water supply issues? I know that the US and Mexico are currently in a political tussle over water allotment in the border regions.
Sort of, the lakes that are the nearest to the capital have been drying in recent years due to over-extraction, given avocado trees are very needy in terms of water supply. However, said lakes aren’t the city’s water supply, our water come from a spring that’s to the west of the city. Unfortunately, poorly planned urbanization is becoming an issue, and it’s affecting these sources, while causing floods in other significant portions of Morelia during the raining season.

I like Morelia but for me is just a 2 day destination and that’s it. I would not live there. Mexico City is the best city in Mexico if you can afford to live in the nice areas. But it all depends on each person 😉
