Oh wow brother thanks so much for sharing. I never knew this could be done on the dp-32sd. I remember on the tascam 2488 neo 24 track ( I also owned that unit) you could do that on those stereo tracks 9-24 So question, using the dp-32sd can you separate and record on each of the stereo tracks too or is those stereo tracks just separated for mono (left to right) or, 2tracks stereo up the middle? Hope you can understand that...👍🏾
The stereo tracks are fused together, so if you record in mono, it will record on both. You can import onto a stereo track two separate tracks if you'd like.
Can you send me a link for this? I looked for it on the TASCAM website, even looked over the release notes on the firmware updates. I did see that you can playback a recording done on a DP32SD on a DP24, but I didn't see anything about switching mono to stereo for tracks.
You don't get 32 tracks. You convert a stereo track which is considered two tracks to a mono track. You don't get the ability to record on each side because it was stereo, it is still one track, but it is now a mono track.
I record and mix with headphones exclusively in my home studio. I've been using AKG K240 open-backed headphones. My question is, do you think that using closed headphones would be better in terms of accuracy, especially with electric guitar modeling patches? I use a Boss BR-800. The presets to me lack clarity but I hear samples on line that sound quite good.
I do find that headphones are good for hearing things that you might miss. I use monitors in my studio to do the final mixdowns, etc. and headphones for minor stuff. You can get a decent sound out of the virtual amp. I generally will record the guitars with a DI Box, then I will re-amp track through virtual amp and do this a couple of times changing the amp settings each time. Then I'll blend all the tracks to make one different sounding guitar track.
