Titanic fans need to appreciate other ships: Those other ships: Olympic and Britannic 😂😂😂

What makes Titanic "special" is that it is the ultimate Greek tragedy. In a Greek tragedy, the protagonist is warned, at least twice, that something bad is going to happen. Then, the tragedy happens and usually the event affects not only the protagonist, but also those around them. People confuse this admiration for the tragedy with the reality of what the protagonist of this story was (beyond the tragedy), just one of a great many ocean liners. Very few are alive today that have actually been on an ocean liner on a transatlantic run, so, having no basis of comparison, they idolize Titanic. They've never been on the QM, or the QE, the Rex, Normandie or any of them. I first walked the decks of the QM 50 years ago, this month. I would have loved to be on the above mentioned liners, and more. Alas, only two liners survive and one is in a bad way. I would love to see the SS United States returned to her former glory.

I've spent lots of years studying the Titanic and everything related to her and while the ship does have it's charm, it isn't the best among other liners. Yet I still consider myself a fan of the Titanic. The Queen Mary also has it's charm that makes it just as unique too. The charm and nostalgia for Titanic stems from the tragedy and the overplayed 1997 film. Many Titanic superfans are sometimes just people who watched the movie to ad nauseum while those who I consider true fans know the characters by name, have read the actual stories, read the (layout) drawings, and seen actual remnants of the ship in museums.

As a major Titanic fan, who indeed fell in love with ocean liners because of her, and still regards her as my number one, I can completely appreciate and understand your perspectives. I have learned recently to love many other liners almost as much and am very happy to be a part of the community. It is important to understand that there is so much more to ocean liner history than just the Titanic and it is incredible that there are so many people out there creating content to educate others and n this history. Thank you for all you have done. This video is why I subscribed.

As an example, simply compare the Titanic's swimming pool to that of the Imperator, which came out in 1913. I would argue that those on the Imperator and her sisters have never been surpassed. Or compare the Titanic's first class dining saloon to that onboard the much smaller France of 1912. The French liner's is a stunning creation and takes my breath away.

In fact, Titanic's interior was famously sparse compared to its contemporaries. What sets Titanic apart, to me, is all of the technologies built into the ship. The hard lessons learned from the loss of Titanic immediately benefited later liners, including the two other Olympic class liners...

I have always liked the Queen Mary and Titanic equally. I grew with the Queen Mary in my backyard in SoCal. Alex, if you ever need photos of the Titanic, feel free to reach out to me.

I too started out as a Titanic fan after reading " A Night to Remember" and " Raise the Titanic" in Jr. High. But I also opened up to other ships. The RMS Aquitania was a beautiful ship. There were lots of beautifully designed ships. I call Titanic the gateway ship as everyone has heard about it. Then some people move on. I always say if I had a time machine and a stack of cash I would sail aboard every ocean liner I could.

If I was extremely wealthy rich. I would have a modern day clone copy of RMS BRITANNIC II built. Titanic's younger sister ship. RMS BRITANNIC II would serve as my floating home. The ship would have modern day technology well hidden. My ship would have live on board guest around 375 to 485. And with mostly ex navy people. Who have the best training in the world. The crew members compliant would be around 450 to 585 crew. The ship would have the exact interiors as the original one would have. Every one who would be on board my ship would have safety drills conducted three times a month for any emergency. Plus my ship would have a mid sized hospital on board. That could handle almost every medical emergency. I would be traveling the world with my ship. And I would be giving it the life that the original never had. You could agree that it would be one of the best looking ships in the world.

I was very much that kind of Titanic enthusiast once. I known about her sister ships and i had ”noticed” the Queen Mary, but not really paid any real attention to her or realised her significance. But one ship I really fell in love with when I did some research was RMS Aquitania. I just adore her interior design.

Funny to hear that others came into loving oceanliners by the Titanic, I am the same. And I do agree that there are better more luxurious and faster ships out there (it still hurts that the United States is rotting away in Philadelphia) I think people love the romanticism of the era (the movie helped) and the regency style interiors a lot. Since the disaster is so well known, it is documented. I wish we could set sail on some today, it is still more environmentally friendly than going on a jetplane. And I personally would prefer to spend days crossing the oceans in luxury over sitting in an airplane.

It blows my mind that people are unaware of Olympics career. They put some miles on that thing over the years, it was a shame they scrapped it before it could help in WW2.

Titanic and her story fascinated me as a kid, but finding out years later that she was one if 3 sister ships was a shock. That lead to looking into why, and the competition for passengers, which lead to a bunch of other links. The Blue Ribband, engine and hull design and improvements. The ultimate progression for me, was the SS United States , which is still in existence, but horribly neglected. If you haven’t done a video on her yet, please make one.

I always thought of Titanic as THE epitome of style and Luxury. However after discovering your channel I realized that yes. The ship was beautiful, but had she not sunk on her maiden voyage I really don’t think she would have stood out at all. Her interiors were grand. But not THE grandest. The tragedy of her sinking is what sticks.. Not the design. I’m not a fan of the exposed metal in her interior.

Your description of breaking out of the "bubble" fit me perfectly From a very young age I had a fascination with Titanic, It was actually one of my first Hyperfixations, not just the movie, but everything surrounding the Titanic, the wreck, and the history (Branching to her sister ships), funnily enough I distinctly remember an impassioned rant I made to my Mum, declaring that I would raise the Titanic, and rescue her from the murky depths From there my Titanic fixation would manifest itself once again every couple years or so, and I dive back into the rabbit hole, but this recent resurfacing of it has given me a deep appreciation for other liners, it now being an ambition of mine to sail aboard the Queen Mary 2, with her being the last ocean liner running today! Of course I will always hold a fascination with Titanic as she is what introduced me into this world. but I understand your sentiment entirely of not letting the high regard in which we hold Titanic blind us to the beauty of other ships Certainly in my younger years I held a childish animosity for Cunard as they were White Star's main rival. But Competition breeds innovation, sure beats one company having a complete monopoly over cruise ships/becoming complacent

Honestly, the Titanic may not be the most luxurious ship of all time or perhaps not the most comfortable after 1912, but it is undeniable that it is the most famous ocean liner in naval history and will always remain so. If you give me to choose one I choose the Titanic without a doubt. I love everything about her, which is not to say that I am a blind fan of the ship. I admire others like her twin sisters Olympic and Britannic, the Carpathia, the twins sisters Lusitania and Mauritania, Oceanic, SS France among others. Thanks for your content.

The movie hyped the titanic so much! I knew about the queen mary cause I lived in Long Beach for 20 years.

You and I are kindred spirits. As an ocean liner enthusiast I was asked endlessly about Titanic stuff during the movie hysteria. However, this admitted Lusitania super fan would often say "hold on...there were other, dare I say, more impressive liners out there!" The look of shock and disbelief was amazing! I used to be as you mentioned were I thought titanic was the most beautiful ship ever until I broke out and expanded my knowledge on ocean liners and found out about Olympic, Oceanic and Queen Mary and found there beauty and realized she isn't the most beautiful ship of all time. I came to love her for being the ship that started my interest in ocean liners and will always love her for that

What IMM (JP Morgan and the Ismay family) wanted was predictability: Big smooth ships, (not running at top speed with the vibration and motion that caused), leaving from England and New York every Monday and Wednesday like the trains. This meant 3 ships. The Olympic was ground breaking. Titanic and what came to be known as the Britanic would have filled out the stable. Cunard would be known for speed, (with luxury and fine appointments) but it could be unpredictable. In a sense, but for an iceberg and a mine, White Star would have been famous for being the "Buick" to Cunard's "Ferrari" in the Trans-Atlantic market. My fascination/obsession with Titanic is visceral. I suspect many feel the same. "The beautiful yet doomed". So many "might have been" things that could have made a difference...and, finally, for me, something I can't explain...at 6 years old, that famous print of the stern, rising out of the water, and the lights blazing as the bow goes under...it called to me, (and still calls to me), in a way I find unnerving....

I have long believed it was the maiden voyage plus the way she slowly sank that set her on the path to legend. Ship wrecks were common. The half empty lifeboats, the insufficient number of them. The fact that it was an iceberg not a wartime accident set her apart from a few of the other Cunard disasters. It’s harder to eulogize a ship that already had its marvels removed in a conversion to hospital ship.

I think that when we compare Lusitania and Titanic or Olympic and Mauretania, both ships have strengths and weaknesses, in Lusitania and Mauretania had amazing interiors but when the designers of the Titanic where planning the interiors they wanted modern luxury without many ornaments and simple but comfortable, while the Lusitania and Mauretania had more impressive interiors in the Olympic class you feel that you are at home instead of a palace. Yea it is true the Titanic and the Olympic where not revolutionary they where evolutionary but they introduced many amenities such as a pool a Turkish bath and elevators, I know they where not the first but they where a huge upgrade from the ships that had introduced them before. Actually though the Mauretania was more famous the Olympic was more popular you can see this when looking at the passenger carrying of both ships, the Olympic Class was made for a specific clientele of passengers that prefer simple luxury, the passenger that wanted impressive luxury they would book a passage on the Lusitania Class or the Imperator Class. In my opinion comparing the ships of the start of the 1900s and the ships of the 1930s is not reasonable because many things changed in 30 years but the most dramatic gap between the ships is the market where they where design for Titanic 3rd class was designed for immigrants however the 3rd class on the Queen Mary for example was designed for people with much more standards Of course Titanic is not the best ship of all time but it was a very beautiful for her specific clientele, and it was a ship which improved the standards at the time and helped as a guide for the construction of newer ships. Interesting video. I never even thought about other ocean liners from that era other than the Queens and Lusitania. Come to think of it, if a steamer didn't sink then I've never heard of it. I didn't even know other countries built them. Time to jump down that rabbit hole hole!

I’ve been a huge Titanic fan for the last 31 yrs, I have to agree with everything you say here. When I looked at other ships like the Lusitania and queen Mary I gained a wider appreciation for ships in general. Titanic will always be my favourite but you’re right, it’s maybe not as people are lead to believe

Great video and I totally agree. I think Titanic has been made in to an icon due to the event and the endless movies/TV/public knowledge but it was similar to all other ships of the time using fascia to hide the steel structure and overall the design is not like it was something so different from other ships of the time period. Just another ship in the fleet at the end of the day, but a sad turn of events no doubt just like the loss of Britannic

I love ocean liners and I owe my passion to Titanic, but it's very important to know that there are other ships outside of Titanic. I hear people say that the Titanic was "the greatest ship of all time" and the "queen of the ocean" but I always say "Olympic existed before Titanic" and a lot of the attributes we associate Titanic with already existed on her older sister. Am I saying the Titanic isn't great? Not at all, but it's important to keep an open mind and appreciate all great liners not just Titanic. OK rant over 😅

U don't have to explain urself, it's okay to like which ever liner u like. I love all three of the Olympic-class liners regardless of knowing that there were other ships that had more beauty and amenities. I just like them. I use to not really care much about other ships, but I do appreciate the Queen Mary after learning about her history, and her appearance has grown on me in time, I use to not like the boxy vents and the bridge wings sticking way out from the ship. But seeing her in the sweeping drone shots of ur videos, she's beautiful. Out of her and the Queen Elizabeth, I like her because she retains some of those older features, like the well deck. And the Queen Mary is not just one of the oldest ocean liners we still have today, she's arguably the most important ocean liner we still have.

Oh my god. I am so glad I burst that bubble years ago! I always keep a neutral and open-mind and explore other ships and enjoy it without judgment. I also been like tired of exploring Titanic and went to learn other ships of the past and present and made me more to enjoy ships even more. I also remember watching this documentary series "BIG, BIGGER, BIGGEST" its episode in 2008 was about the largest cruise ship at the time the "Independence of the Seas" and the show compared with other innovating breakthrough ships of the time, the "Great Western", "Great Britain", "Conte di Savoia", "Normandie" and the "Queen Mary", and on each ship shows what made these ships stand out and how relevant are today on modern ships. The G. Western covers about her size and how to strength it while at sea. Great Britain covers about the propulsion unit of the propeller. The Savoia covers about her gyroscopes for stability. Normandie covers about her layout and large rooms and how to hide the funnel exhaust uptakes. Queen Mary covers about her speed and how deal with drag and how to reduce it. The document alone made me realize that Titanic hardly had anything new and innovating, she was just a ship with proven technology. (Don't take it very personal, Titanic purist)

I like Titanic but her stans really exaggerate her. The irony is that had Titanic not sunk she would have been overshadowed by nearly every other liner. Olympic was the one that got all the press coverage, Lusitania and Mauretania had their fan club. The Imperators and Aquitania were designed to challenge the Olympic Class. Britannic was intended to be the pinnacle of the class anyway and if her sinking is butterflied away by Titanic's survival, she'd be the only one of her class to survive the Great Depression due to her private bathrooms. Titanic's fate would be joining Olympic and Mauretania in the 30s to be scrapped.

Yeah, you nailed it. And since it was James Cameron's movie that introduced the vast majority of people to the Titanic, I absolutely hate how it focused more on a fictional love story that never happened while overhyping to some extent the ship, rather than telling the story exactly as it happened. As the saying goes, the truth is always far greater than any myth. My thinking is that the Olympic-class earned their reputation for being the grandest ships afloat simply due to their great size. They were quite literally more modern versions of their predecessors in the White Star fleet but scaled up. Size is associated with grandeur after all. I do have to concede that many of the liners you named had interiors that were arguably more stunning than they were. The Aquitania especially: if any ship was the pinnacle of design of that time period, it would have had to be her. At least on the inside: outside, no, just no. I owe it to Titanic that I know as much about liners, engineering, architecture, the ocean and history as I do today. I have come across many incredible ships including the Queen Mary, which I have grown to love. Still, none have quite been able to take Titanic's spot in my heart as my number one. Believe me, several have made a good try at it, and I myself made a try at accepting them. None have come any closer than the United States, and she may very well take over that spot in my heart somewhere down the line. Yet, as of now, I simply couldn't do it. The Olympic-class liners had what were in my opinion, the most perfect lines of any ship, and Titanic was a beautiful balance of the original appearance on Olympic and the evolutions found on Britannic. Her interiors, while maybe not necessarily the grandest of all time (that title has to belong to the Normandie), still have that beautiful Edwardian touch that I love so much, and she is very much a ship that, with a few necessary improvements here and there, I could feel right at home in, because that's the kind of ship she feels like to me inside-out. In short, my relationship with Titanic is very much a love at first sight. :)

As a Titanic fan..I don't understand why is an either or situation. I love Titanic but also am interested in and love other ships such as the Lusitania, Mauritania, Empress of Ireland, and the Queen Mary..

Queen Mary, to me, is the best as it's the only true ocean liner left and the only one I have taken many tours of. "Gotta have a well deck" In the early to mid 1900's the ships interior designs had too much "perfume," by the time the Queen Mary and her contemporaries came along the interiors had only a dab of perfume--less is better. RMS Laconia-best single funnel, SS United States-best two funnel, RMS Queen Mary-best three funnel, RMS Aquitania best four funnel ""the last 4 funnel to be scrapped."" Alex, how do you do it week after week, making great content.

I remember the first time ive ever heard about the Titanic on a video about it when i was 5 and after the video ive loved ocean liners as Queen Mary,Lusitania,Britannic,Oceanic,and a lot more ships like the Titanic and her sisters which would be like what you described about the bubble that you just had to break out of it to learn about more other ships but i would rate the Titanic pretty high on the scale and same to her sister ships. Now even years later ive been studying many many other ships and some ships I’ve almost never new existed also i know this is random but i wanna make this clear, i dont like the seeandbee by her looks but she is a great ship

TITANIC, was a turning point in world , social and maritime history that will always stand out above the others .

Honestly I think the real winning trait of the Olympic class over Cunarders of the time was they were devastatingly more efficient. Sure the crossing took a few hours longer, but if there had been a long run for all 3 sisters ticket prices probably would have reflected that while still netting White Star better profits than Lucitania et al. Maybe Cunard wouldn't have swallowed White Star in the depression. There were also some architectural benefits, or at least benefits in going a few knots slower in the vibration department. Sure the spaces weren't as grand as the Cunarders, but they may have still been more comfortable. That leads me to my last thought, and it's one I don't think is clearly answered: How did the Olympic class ships fare compared to their contemporaries in stormy weather? I came across a couple folks on Titanic sites who seem to think she was comfortable in storms for her day but what would really be awesome would have been a direct comparison between Olympic and, say, the Rolling Mary.

Alex, You made the best presentation. Really, you have. Even though my love affair in Ocean Liners started with Titanic, it was long before I saw Queen Mary and eventually became immersed in a world of Ocean Liners and Cruise Liners. Even if Titanic was billed as the luxurious ship in the world, Britannic would have been more luxurious and Titanic would have certainly been outclassed by the Imperator Class. I don't think you hate Titanic at all. Far from it. What you basically said is that she isn't the only ship in the world. Good job

I agree with you 100% , Alex !! Every point you made in this video is spot on !! Yes , the Titanic was a Wonderful ship ! A beautiful and luxurious ship ! But there were other liners both before and after that were GREAT ALSO !! Mauritania , Lusitania, Queen Elizabeth and of course the superlative Queen Mary! To me , when I think of the definitive exterior look of a great ocean liner, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary come immediately to mind and stay there!!! The interior of both those two ships were and are BREATHTAKING!!! Especially First Class Rooms !!! I think there’s plenty of room out there for ALL THE GREAT OCEAN LINERS!! MikeW.

Im an Olympic class Superfan, and this video does not offend me at all. But I also love all the classic liners.. minus some strong opinions against Aquitanias super structure. On a side note, There is a stark difference in Victorian ships VS Edwardian as you mention. Victorian decor is very over the top.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the interiors on the Aquitania, which earned her the nickname "The Ship Beautiful".

my oceanliner love and study began with the RMS Olympic and Titanic, then i have this obsession building ships in minecraft, after that i began to learn other ocealiners like the RMS Lusitania, RMS Adriatic, RMS Queen Mary and RMS Oceanic after that i began to focus on the RMS Olympic design and other ocealiner designs like the Queen Mary nowadays im into Computer Science or Computer Hardware since my ocealiner love is just my past i learned so much about oceanliners and im proud of it. thank you for reading my story about my oceanliners love

Interesting video, and well done! However, I'm trapped in a related bubble myself.......I'm an Olympic tragic, and of course without her there would have been no Titanic or Brittanic. And I wish people would stop saying that Titanic was 'larger' than Olympic, they were the same length, height and breadth.......Titanic was heavier courtesy of her promenade deck being closed in, and the extra staterooms added, but other than that they were intended to be identical.

There were some valid points brought out in this video. It reminds me of differences of opinions vs. Science and Statistics. I would love to see another video of why cruise ships are best at island hopping vs. Doing transatlantic voyages. There are vast reasons for the differences in design in these two types of vessels on purpose. I still appreciate cruise ships and what they have to offer. Ocean liners are definitely my favored. BP

When I was a kid the titanic fascinated me(still does). But as I’ve grown older and learned more about history I think it’s safe to say it’s not my favorite ship of all time, I think the design is kinda basic and I’m glad this was mentioned. Compared to other liners of the time I think the Olympic class honestly might lack some personality. But that also might be because I’ve looked images and models of titanic since I was a kid, it just seems to lack soul. Walk around the QM there is no lack of soul.

I agree! Yes, Titanic is cool and everything, but there area other ships. Recently I have taken liking to RMS Aqitania, RMS Majestic, RMS Berengaria and SS Leviathan, cuz I caught postcards of them recently.

I personally liked the Cunard vessels such as Lusitania and Mauritania more than the Titanic when comparing. Though the Titanic still holds a special place in my heart because it's what got me interested in Ocean Liners to begin with.

To be honest i used to be a “only titanic fan” just a year ago but I started to read and look at Cunards ships and boom instantly my new favorite ship was Mauritania and at least this one didn’t sink!

Alex, you are heroic. All of this needed to be said and you say it eloquently. My way into Ocean Liners arrived in Long Beach Harbor roughly 3 years after my arrival into the world, under the power of her own mighty turbines for the last time. My Father, God rest his soul, was among the thousands in small craft sailng out to greet her. Sadly, I wasn't along that day. 3-year-olds aren't the most popular thing to have on boats. Eventually I got to go aboard her and gaze in wonder at one of her massive propellers, blink my eyes at the staggering kaleidoscope of exotic woods in her interiors, and walk her endless decks. I loved, and still love, the Royal Mail Ship Queen Mary. Years later I had, I admit, an affair with another famous mailboat: RMS Titanic. It began when my brother and I caught the last half of "A Night To Remember" on television. It was stirring, and I went around singing "Nearer My God To Thee" for weeks afterward. Titanic was lovely and romantic, but it wasn't really in the stars for us. Then I met someone who took my breath away, and eventually my heart along with it. Her name was Normandie. No one comes close to this day. I do, however, have enough love for many liners, and there are others who are special. →RMS Queen Elizabeth. QE, no "2". Queen Mary's very pretty sort-of-sister. A near perfect design. Took lessons from Normandie while remaining thoroughly Clyde-built. Hard to beat her maiden voyage. →SS United States. This beautiful historic ship, the fastest ocean liner ever, needs to be saved, restored, and be a cared-for part of our maritime heritage. I'm amazed at how the sheer beauty of her design is often overlooked. In profile, she is amazingly long and low, which accentuates her massive funnels. She has lines much like a thoroughbred racing yacht. Anyway, I feel very much the same as you do about this subject. Titanic was a fine ship, and has many lovely people among her fans. But there is life beyond her, and many truly amazing ships and their stories await discovery.

The Titanic has become a pop culture icon. This means a lot of casual people get into and throw around a lot of ignorant things that are not accurate. But for it’s time it was a remarkable ship (not necessarily the most beautiful or best, though I think people can have that opinion). It was the largest ship for its time and was luxurious and ended in a sad tragedy. These events will forever keep it in our minds. Other ships however are quite wonderful. I particularly like the Normandie, The United States, and I even like the Norway. I think Titanic was special for its time period. Many ships have eclipsed it since. But I’d go on a ship like Titanic over most popular cruise ships today. I think we could use some more ocean liners today.

Ocean liners were mostly for passenger travel, so they had to be ornate to make a good impression on the 1st class passengers.

I agree with Alex all the points he made. And TBH white star line got some much more luxurious ships after World War 1 that out class what the Olympics can offer. Such as the RMS Majestic II Ex SS Bismarck. And ngl the pubic back then prefer the double deck dining saloon in both Lusitania and Mauretania's First and Second class.

Each ship is beautiful and ugly. None of them are perfect, and each person in the world has their favourite ships. People do indeed praise Titanic a bit too much, however if you appreciate other ships, you will see there's more than just the ill-fated ocean liners. Take Olympic, and then ships a bit like Titanic before going into other ships. I have no favourite, and that's because all of the ships of era and design are my favourite. Also cool hat.

Titanic is still my favorite ship. It just fits me. I don't like Olympic's promenade deck and Britannic's gantry davits, while very useful, make it look more like a freighter. However, I can appreciate many other liners, especially the Portuguese ones which don't get enough appreciation neither international or even here in Portugal! The Funchal, Vasco da Gama, Santa Maria, Infante Dom Henrique (aka SeaWind Crown) and many others, where beautiful modest liners and very well built. The Funchal still exists, though it didn't pass safety inspections, so it stopped sailing. Being converted into a floating hotel right now. Queen Elizabeth 2 is the ultimate ocean liner to me, even though not my favorite and I'm saving money so I can do an Atlantic crossing in the QM2

Facts, Titanic was a wonderful ship, but there certainly were better ocean liners that existed; I love Titanic, always have, but I will agree that Queen Mary looks a lot better, even Queen Mary 2 looks better! It's different styles in all three ships, sure, but still

I want you to talk about Britannic.

I was about 7 when I learned of the titanic, I was about 9 when I learned of the queen Mary, and I thought and currently still think, titanic is a bit over rated because of the movie and I think people should give more credit to other ocean liners and I also think tug boats should get more credit, manly because of the Eppleton Hall.

This makes me want to look up Joanna Lumley and Dawn French’s Making of the Filming of Titanic on youtube or is that backward. Surely Jennifer Saunders was in it.

You are quite correct I genuinely think titanic is an amazing looking ship but I orso like more ships other than titanic I started of just only liking titanic and thought it was the superior ship I orso like the ship Keiser willhelm to it is very nice looking vessel

Some People need to realize that there is more Maritime history then just Titanic. Not to say it's wrong to talk about Titanic but their are other liners and ships that deserve to be talked about too Nice video

You are right though, it's only so famous and loved because it sank. I bet if it was Lusitania that sank, we'd be saying Lusitania was better than all other ships. Also, in a way, I never got into that Titanic bubble. Instead it sparked an interest in a lot of other ships, from the ESSO Northumbria to tiny passenger ferries like the Sultana and Moby Prince. But Titanic started it all so it gets a special spot.

Thanks for this video. I am a titanic fan. She is the ship that got me interested in liners when I was a boy. However she was never the greatest. Not even in her own time. Agree with this video that there were more luxurious liners around. To me the biggest pity of the age was losing Britanic. She would have been the best of the three. I to like the Queen Mary from the outside. But 5he interiors are not my favorite. I don't have a favorite, I do have a most interesting and best. NORMANDIE.

I know that she is her sister. But my favorite ship is the Britannic. Party due to the fact because of her organ. I play a organ IRL. I have Titanic up high on my list because she got be started into liners. That is why Titanic is my thrid favorite ship.

This is a great video. But you shouldn’t have to defend your likes or dislikes. We all like different things for different reasons. I’m a mad Titanic fan, and love her for what she is, how she was built by the biggest ship builders in the world, and what she looked like. In fact, she was simply the product of a cookie cutter design started by Alexander Carlisle with much earlier White Star ships that made ships all of a certain size and shape and ratio of length V breadth, but simply scaled up. Even common areas, rooms and interiors were cookie cutter designs from H&W. This is actually good, and it shows how advanced H&W were and by streamlining design, could build things quicker. One thing I would like to point out, and possibly do a video on, is that White Star Line were pioneers in many fields of things that are still in ships today, like railings a passenger could easily see the view from a deck chair, or that they were the first to put first class amid ships etc. things like this that do make White Star pioneers in the field. I have been on the Queen Mary a couple of times now, and I too love her for what she is and what she looks like, a stunningly beautiful ship. For me, yes I love the look of the Olympic class ships, but Normandie is still in my books, the most beautiful ship ever made.

My favorite ship is the Olympic. Cause she had a life and very underrated. Titanic is too overrated. I also like other ships too. Titanic is my least favorite ship. Yes she was beautiful, but died too early. I pretty much like all of white star line ships. Once again, great channel!! 😎👍

Thank you for this lovely and reasoned video. I myself once thought Titanic was the ONLY liner worth thinking about. But I learned. Yes it was beautiful and luxurious... for it's time. But not the most beautiful and luxurious of it's time. And certainly not the most of those that came later. My own favorites are those of the French Line. Many were good looking on the outside, but all were astonishing on the inside. Great job! Thanks again!

I think your so rigth the real main reason why everyone know white star it bc of sinking of thye most faimous ships like titanic for example and i do like cunard a bit more then white star bc white star lasted until its last liner went out off service the mv britannic 3 but cunard still opparate real ocean liners like qeen mary 2 for example so yea your so right !! :D
