I was a faculty student mentor in the MSN program for five years and completed an MS in Management through the business school, so I've been on both sides of the equation, so to speak. Students completing extra courses is uncommon, and most students work hard to complete the minimum number of required courses in the allotted time. Moving lots of extra courses into a term is possible but not the norm for most students. WGU is not a degree mill, so be prepared to work. Having prior knowledge of a subject is helpful but not necessary, the course and the requirements are very well laid out and understandable for the student. However, it is hard work, and passing is not guaranteed. Both your faculty student mentor and faculty instructor want to help you and see you succeed. I highly recommend WGU as a both faculty member and a student.
Do you think this is because its new for many students, that they only require the minimum required? I am interested and applied, and I currently go to SNHU. I'm definitely one of those who will breeze through, I have more time though as a single guy with no kids. Just a full-time job.
@@jlf13766 It all depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into the problem. As I said, it's not a degree mill and requires actual college-level work.
Congratulations on getting started! I understand your nervous but I think you will find it goes well for you. Everyone is very supportive including your mentor who will be there to offer encouragement on your journey 🤩
I waited 3 months between MSCIA and MBA. It really helped to take the time off and recharge. The Master's programs are very reasonable in the number of courses. Your instructor will provide a 12 month accelerated schedule since most Master's programs are scheduled for 18-24 months.
So great to hear a review from a current student! I am considering the BS in software engineering. i completed my BA in 2022 in two pretty irrelevant fields so i really wanna get a BS.
I’m so happy for you and I’ll be praying for all of your success going forward. If I don’t know nothing else I know that Gods got you. I took a course years ago and completed it. We moved and I was ready to work in the field so I called to get a copy of my license and the person I spoke to was so nasty and rude I never called back. I learned a valuable lesson , nothing can stop what God has for you.
Current Healthcare management BA student. Mostly good experience. The Healthcare classes suck, in terms of how the info is presented. All the business classes have been pretty enjoyable.
Thank you for sharing that with me! I’m sorry to hear about the health care classes. In getting ready to start the mba so I’m looking forward to the business classes.
@krissythewhimsy good luck! There's nothing that I can do about them so I gotta get through them as they are. Maybe my feedback will change things for the future classes.
How is the program going for u? Is it healthcare management or administration? I didn’t see one for healthcare management. How do u like the proctored exams?
Thanks to you❤️ because I was so skeptical but I can tell you made the best decision for yourself and it definitely has me inspired to give it a try ❤️
@@thatgirllis2454 I was a Course Instructor and had at least 1 student in Canada. The only "hangup" I can think of is they need to ship some things to you at the start. If you used a VPN and had all your "stuff", I'm not sure how they would detect you weren't physically there.
Does anyone feel that with all of the people finishing in a few months, people will stop taking it seriously? Especially the MBA. I just don't see how you can learn the material in that timeframe. Just my opinion. I went there and found the classes really good, but the support and customer service was slow and horrible. I seem to be in the minority though!
In my experience as both a student mentor and a graduate student, few people are finishing in a few months. The vast majority take 18 months to two years to finish, and many never finish at all. WGU is not a degree mill. I posted a longer statement about the school earlier and provided more information.
Former Course Instructor here. No, they won't stop taking it seriously because of how hard it is to fake your way through. You really have to know what you are doing to pass. The problem you are concerned about has been a focus of the school since it's inception.
I’ve noticed a little of the videos that show how to accelerate, aren’t really going as fast as they seem. They only graduate in one year because they spend many months pre-studying the courses before paying tuition and then they sign up and test out.
I took the loooooong route and it’s taken me four years. But that’s the slower pace most people finish much sooner than that by accelerating their program 🤩
WGU is awful! I am going for UMPI. They are scamming you on the credit you will be bringing in and all the extra fees you have to pay for this and that. Their proctor's exams are ridiculous!
Hi 👋 Is there any possibility of getting RN to BSN program online from their home country if you are an overseas nurse who just passed the NCLEX RN? What about the clinical placements?
Honestly, I am not sure as I pursued the educational track for my bachelors. However, they have a wonderful team of admissions counselers that could better answer your question. I wish you the best in pursuing your degree :)
WGU accepted the credits I had from a previous bachelors so that took care of pretty much all the general ed classes I needed, except Calculus I, Discrete Math I & II as well as the Data Structures & Algorithms class ( for bs in computer science). They're actually accredited by the same organization (NWCCU) as the school where I got my first bachelors. So they're definitely legit & a non-proft school.
Need Advice! I`m 44 years old. I graduated with a Business Degree and have a Masters in Education. I`m teaching for the last 17 yrs, but wanted a career switch into Business/IT Management/Healthcare/Supply Chain career. Should I go straight Competency Based to MBA in IT in WGU or take Competency Fast Track Bachelor`s in Project Management in UMPI or UMASSGlobal? Any suggestion is welcome! Thanks!
In my humble opinion I think the mba in IT from WGU is a good option. Considering you already have a bachelors in business it would expand on that, I would think. Plus you can get some project management certifications too if you wanted to compliment the mba. Just my two cents though. Wishing you the best whichever path you choose
I have heard in some of the fbook groups that it’s good for beginners and they have a lot of resources to help you if you feel lost at any point. It’s a very supportive atmosphere!
Sure the name of the group is WGU Accelerators but if you put WGU in facebook search a bunch of other groups will come up to you may want to join@@AshleeNycol
@@brittw830 No, I wouldn't say they are difficult cause they do a good job of giving you all the tools you need to prep for the exams. They are really thorough :)
