Trust me....you’ll shed more than tear when you’re onboard the plane bound for UK for good. I stayed in the UK for 3 years, developed feelings for the country and her people, and then the day came when I had to head back home to Singapore. You’ll get over it...although it’s been 2 decades since I left the UK and there’s still this lingering wonderful thoughts of my time there still. 😅

In terms of safety, I used to live in Shanghai and my female friend said that she goes on evening jogs without a worry in the world. That boggles my mind. Then I started strolling in the evenings and it's absolutely true. Old people were out and carefree.

My wife and I lives in the US due to our work. We both miss Singapore. 🙁 we hear gun shots at night, people getting shot, cars getting jacked, druggies in the alleys.. and American thinks it’s normal 🤷‍♂️ We miss the safety that Singapore offers... and I get taxed ALOT in the US! And the health care cost is expensive! Stupidly expensive! Even for a simple doctors visit it can cost you! And this is after insurance..

Thank you Georgia for all the great videos you have done, introducing the world to Singapore, and Singaporeans a taste of how foreigners living here view us. You come from the UK, with friends and family there, so realistically there is a always higher chance that you will move back home rather than settling here permanently. I’m sure it’s pretty much the same for any Singaporean living overseas now. So, don’t ever feel apologetic and all of us will wish you all the best when you eventually go back. Most important is the memories you have created and shared with us here. To us, you are pretty much a Singaporean already. Singapore will always welcome you back! We welcome anyone who share our love for this place we call home!

I am a Singaporean who has lived in the UK for a little over 6 years. I really agree that 3 things I miss so much in Singapore: (i) everything is just so convenient! And that is even though I live in London. (ii) Safety - I miss being able to go to Starbucks/McDonalds and using my bags to reserve a seat. This can never be done in the UK (and almost the whole of the world). Plus some parts of the country/city can just be so dodgy... (iii) HOT weather. I try as much as possible to come to Singapore over the New Year because cold weather is really really miserable. I certainly prefer 30 degrees with high humidity over 5 degree with a drizzle... All the best with your move back to the UK. While I wait for MOH to life the 14 day Stay-Home Notice!

I'm born and bred Singaporean, and I think you're more acclimated to the weather here than I am. If I spend an hour outdoors I'll be covered in sweat. I can happily walk around in a t shirt and shorts down to the low 10s when I'm overseas. Ironically, I think it's because I've been spending too much time under strong indoor air conditioning. I had this realisation when I saw exchange students from Nordic countries wearing sweaters while indoors in Singapore.

I love the things you don't like as much about the UK are the same reasons I do, but in reverse. Where I'm from (NZ) public transport is almost non-existant outside of the major cities, and you have to own a car or at least a bike. In UK you have trains! and mostly a decent public transport network and most of the time there's no point getting a car because they are too expensive (especially the insurance), and the parking is terrible. The few times I wanted a car for a trip I just hired one - which is also cheaper than back home. It's all relative I guess!

To be fair, OP live near the outskirts of city center so transport is cheaper compared to living in the suburbs. OP's salary is probably higher (there is minimum wage for foreigners on Employment Pass) than many locals and thus can afford the "cheap" taxi fares and MRT fares. And reason you don't get cat-called in Singapore is because you're not their type LOL.

She has forgot to mention the flogging and hanging death penalty in Singapore. Singaporeans are nice but they are basically Chinese and Indians in a former Malaysian state. Singapore is also strict on spitting on the floor (not that I condone it) and eating food whilst walking down the street. If you are gay in Singapore good luck but apart from that Singapore is really a lovely city. The feeling of safety is amazing but nothing beats the major cities of the world. Monaco is a lot better than Singapore in terms of lifestyle and culture so it is no big deal coming back home to the UK as it is warm for 8 months of the year.

Here's what I like living in Singapore: - Public transport is so convenient and I can just get around without owning a car! There's also escalators in all the MRT stations which is so so convenient especially if you are carrying heavy stuffs or when you don't want to use the stairs. - No natural disasters which means I can sleep in peace every night without ever being woke up by earthquakes or typhoons - Safety: Agreed with what you mentioned, I can stay out at night or come back home after midnight without much worries. - Strong currency: Spore's strong currency allows us to spend comfortably most of the time during overseas travel. - Amenities and healthcare convenience: Wet markets, hawker centres, coffeeshops are around to provide affordable alternatives. When sick, can just go to a neighbourhood clinic instead of hospitals unlike other countries. This will also free up resources in hospitals for emergencies. Our healthcare quality and infrastructure is also top notch. We don't have to worry about staying in dirty hospital rooms. - Food! - Being a multi-racial country, there's so much food choices from pratas to mee gorengs to Hokkien mee! Not forgetting other countries' cuisine like Korean, Japanese, Italian etc (authentic or not is another issue). - Environment: Our environment is generally quite clean and you don't see vandalism on the walls on the streets like other European countries (thanks to the strict laws). We ladies can wear heels without much of a problem since the pathways in Singapore are less slopey and surfaces are even (don't have to worry about getting heels stuck or trip over some hole). - Water: Water is clean and we could drink straight right from the tap if we want to and without a worry on the water supply shortage (water conservation is still important). I recalled seeing people in London supermarkets buying gallons of drinking water. So thankful we don't need to do that here. - Weather: Singapore would be almost perfect if she has a cooler average temperature but hey! there's always air-conditioner which will resolve this easily and we can enjoy it in malls, offices and public transports. Anyway, laundry will get to dry up faster (with the sunshine and not mouldy smell) which also saves money without the need to purchase a dryer. And I agree with some comments that there is no need for moisturiser most of the time due to the humidity (skin is less dry compared to when in cold weather countries). Overall, I am fortunate and am grateful to be a Singaporean. =) P.S: I know this is a lengthy comment.

why? For westerners like yourselves, it is easier to gain respect and to get high pay while working in SG and you will blend in just fine. But for those who come from 3rd world countries to make money like me, I dont feel like getting blending in. The food is different, the culture is also different, the houses are so expensive, you pay so much just to have a tiny little space. Oh well, maybe some westerners are already sick of their big houses with big garden but we love big houses with big garden by the way. I just earn some money to support my family and some little more extra to start a career back home.

Personally I've noticed crime rate is increasing in UK since lockdown. There's just not enough people out and about to filter out the dodgy people. I'm actually been more on the radar and vigilant than ever before sigh it's actually exhausting.

I love the warm weather here and though the humidity is uncomfortable, I prefer it to dry weather because my skin gets so dry and puffy in dry conditions. The humidity is great for the skin hahahah. And of course summer all year round means long days all year round.

OMG same, I struggle with my dry skin and even though the humidity makes my hair go beserk I love the humidity for my skin.

We stayed in SG in February. We are very well travelled yet found SG to be a truly incredible place. Clean, safe, culturely interesting and modern.

Also, I thought I would love the cold weather in Japan, but I absolutely hated it. I cried almost everyday and was angsty the whole time because of the weather and couldn't wait to come home to sunny Singapore haaaaaaaaaaa.

I don't usually write the comments, but this video made me do it:) My story is almost like yours. I moved to Singapore when i was 23 and staying here already for 5.5 years. I feel it, its damn difficult to leave SG and be back to Europe with cold weather, safety issues etc. Hopefully your transition will be smooth and you will be reunite with the family. Not sure when I am gonna be brave enough to be back from this "Asian bubble" Good luck 🤞

I'm glad you had so much satisfaction in Singapore. I can tell that you grew a lot too, from your old video from 5-6 years ago; the way you talk in front of camera has became so natural/mature and the past 1 year, you had made more videos than ever before; and you became prettier too staying in Singapore! haha Good luck Georgia!

Please don't leave! Singapore will miss you! So many Singaporeans haven't lived abroad and have no idea how good we have it here. I'm one of those people. 😅After living in the US for a few years I'm so glad for the convenience and safety here! I do prefer the hot/humid weather vs freezing cold winters. I lived in SoCal and the weather was perfect most of the year except in winter when it was 15 deg celcius (yea I'm a wimp when it comes to cold) and I wished for Singapore weather again. Would love to hear your reasons for leaving as well!

5) the “convenience” - I lived around tg Rhu and walking distance to the gardens by the bay, Marina Bay Sands, the stadium, the East Coast park etc etc - despite the heat , I loved walking everywhere in SG , I would walk after dinner for 2-3 hours often crossing Benjamin shears bridge ( that was also my route to work - to Millenia tower) and it was so safe. Took my New York friends on such walk after 10 pm across gardens by the bay to Marina Bay Sands and back ax shears bridge and under the bridge - my friends were freaking out afraid of being “jumped by thugs” ... no such thing in SG ! I laughed at my American friends !🤪

I have never been to America but I have heard similar stories from Americans in Singapore. How nobody will go out after certain time, there are certain places to avoid after certain time. How Americans or New Yorkers will not go outside walking for no purposes, how nobody walk on the sideways except joggers. Everyone sit in their cars only. I didn't comment then to them, but it sounds to be like a very sad life where you have to actively plan with a purpose whenever you leave your house and you can't even explore your neighbourhood on feet.

Hi Georgia, I guess life always have different stages. Don't be afraid. We grow only when we move forward. Ur 2nd home welcomes u back anytime. Singapore isn't Singapore without diversity, including our foreign friends staying here. That's the only way the place will grow too. New and diverse perspectives from our foreign friends. Bless u as u move back to the UK next year. Hope to continue seeing ur videos U will make from the UK.

I'll definitely miss this place when we finally leave. Beautiful country and good people but it isn't home. Some stuff I'm pretty sure I'll never get used to. Got a long while to go though so I'll enjoy it while I can.

I have terrible driving anxiety, but no one around me even understands. they all bought cars and were zipping around happily in days, meanwhile I took my test 3 years ago and bought a car in august and still deep breathe every time I get in, not to mention I've still only driven really locally.

What will you miss the most when u leave singapore? I lived in Manila for three years and returned to Singapore and what I missed most of the philippines is the people...they are always so smiley...even when times are hard for them, I find their smiles incredible. I don't like the place because I think the govt needs to do more for their people there, but what I missed most are the people.
