They're definitely my favorite to see. Would love to see them come back some time. Probably won't happen but it sure would be cool! As long as the series itself isn't super childish like they have been lately
To me what made In Space great was because at that point the ratings were at all that low so they went all out in this season and why PR still alive today
That's actually incorrect. The ratings spiked with the introduction of the 2nd Turbo team, TJ & Co. Ratings continued to climb with the introduction of In Space, essentially saving the entire PR franchise.
@@APrinceofThePower that's what I was talking about Turbo was so awful that they didn't care how In Space was gonna be they thought it was gonna be the last season
They wanted the show to appeal to 6-8 year olds, yet I was 12 and watched every episode. By far my favorite PR season, and lets not forget that intro theme song
I like how Lost Galaxy built continuity and paid respects to the In Space Rangers but kept expanding the lore. I honestly still wish to this day though that In Space could have had 3 seasons, but I get it- the point is to sell toys.
Power Rangers In Space was the last time I watched the show regularly. I still watch Power Rangers sometimes but I feel In Space was my favorite season since MMPR. I was really shocked we got another season after In Space since people kept saying that was the finale for the entire series, but I’m glad we got Lost Galaxy. Not a bad show at all and I think for me, once Fox Kids lost the Power Rangers franchise, it lost some of its soul. I miss Fox Kids and ty for the videos. Please keep up the awesome work.
Same. The show changing it's cast every season after that was kind of blah for me. Lost Galaxy was alright until Karone came back into the picture. LightSpeed was okay. TimeForce was pretty cool. But after that I got tired of the cast changing and then Disney took over and it just wasn't dark fun anymore. More childish and silly. Getting rid of Zordon, the communicators, and teleporting and the elements that made the show great the first 6 seasons ruined the show for me. I did tune in every season to see how the show evolved. I did watch a lot of Dino Thunder because of Tommy but eventually stopped because I didn't care what they did to his character. Then again for RPM thinking it might be the last. Then when Saban took over again, I got exited, but none of the elements were brought back and they continued the cast changing so didn't really care. I'm hoping Cosmic Fury and their future plans bring the show back to its roots.
@@yafmaverick That's your opinion but everything always goes back to the roots. They know what the true fans want and what made the show successful to begin with. And from what I'm hearing about the future of the show and movies, it looks like they're going back to basics and that's promising. So we'll see.
Share many of the same sentiments. With the end of Zordon and Fox kids, so went my strong connection with the show, and I had been watching since the debut of mmpr. Even remembered the ad before the debut. I did peek at lost galaxy, light speed rescue and time force, still logged into foxkids website and played some of the shockwave/flash games they had on there, like the space glider racing game but my days of running home every afternoon or tuning in every Saturday morning at their time slot was slowly fading. Zordon and the continuity of the story line meant a lot to me at the time. In space to me is the last great season and stays in my heart as a series finale
@@arjl880 agreed. It felt like they lost some of their momentum once PRIS ended and it didn’t help that Life With Louie and Spider-Man: The Animated Series ended in 1998 as well. They lost at least three of their mainstay shows, at least in first run airings, pretty much all at once and then you had Kids’ WB! breathing down their necks as well. That was about to get more difficult in 1999 with Batman Beyond and Pokemon waiting in the wings. I still watched Fox Kids but Kids’ WB! took over my viewings with a vengeance. It felt like they lost some of their luster over at Fox Kids and then once the network became Fox Box and dropped the show, that was the end of Fox Kids or whatever it would be called for me. They dropped Wild Force right in the middle of its run. Thank goodness ABC Kids kept it going but it felt like Fox just waved the white flag and was like “yup we’re done”. Just sad they kind of lost interest.
Also, depends at what stage, or context. Remember in mighty morphin, when Jason is teaching the martial arts class, and Bulk niavely thinks it's piss easy, so Jason gives him the opportunity to prove it, and Bulk embarrasses himself? That was naive and arrogant. The final moments of in space, as you mentioned, saw the best of him - a moral backbone and the braveness to say "no" in the face of extreme idealogical authoritarianism
This was hands down my favorite season of PR. And it felt like a bar had been set for other seasons to strive for. Everything about it was so cool and original. I loved the mega-zord and how it was the "mother ship" with the shuttle being the head, it was just so unique to me instead of them having their own zords..
Lost Galaxy was the last season I watch of Power Rangers I enjoyed all especially Galaxy but right after it I was like nope plus I got a lil old in my teen years had I know tommy came back in Dino Thunder I would have gave that one a try
This is one of the great seasons. While I liked TJ in Turbo, I think he really shined as second in command. I feel like he became more strategic. In the other hand, Carlos really got screwed. Based in the number 2 on his zords, it is clear black should have been second in command. But Carlos was horribly incompetent throughout. Nothing against the actor, who did a fantastic job. But if you watch it through again, you notice that pretty much any time Carlos is responsible for something or seeks to achieve a goal, he fails. His big accomplishment was getting Andros to be more of a team player, which he did by getting his ass kicked. He even ended up being blackmailed by a child, and somehow HE was the jerk in that episode.
@@Z3PHYR11 Even that episode was all about him screwing up and losing confidence. He messed up and injured Cassie, he failed to face the monster again, trained with Adam but quit because he couldn't handle it, and gave up being a ranger. When he had his chance for redemption, he cowered instead forcing Adam to morph and almost die. It was only then that Adam actually stepped up.
That's ME in the Master Vile costume at 02:16! It was my first day on set & I was so excited to meet Rita! I have a photo with her backstage as we're both putting our costumes on. Also, it's so nice to hear that everyone agrees that this was the best season of POWER RANGERS, ever! Thanks! Glad I was able to be part of the monster crew on several episodes - I even got blown up with some pyrotechnics while trying to run as Coralizer (The Coral Monster) during a "western cowboy" shoot at Melody Ranch in California.
The issue I had with the seasons after In Space was that the though-line of recurring characters simply wasn't there. Tommy, Kimberly, Billy and Adam earned their places as legendary rangers by appearing in multiple seasons and each had multiple character arcs that eventually paid off... Turbo was the low point - unceremoniously dropping the darker tone of Zeo for a lighter tone and a child ranger that rather than act as a gateway character for viewers merely served to turn them off, before ditching the OG team we actually cared about mid season for total newcomers - granted this had been done before but never a whole cast change in the space of one season... It felt like a diservice not just to the characters but also to the actors that played them. When In Space continued the trend of carrying (almost) the entire team from one season to the next, it set up the possibility for more intricate story-telling whilst still having the annual change of powers... Even Lost Galaxy managed to keep some links back to previous seasons by including the Astro Megaship and introducing Karone as a replacement Pink ranger mid season. The seasons after however felt like they slipped into a formula - replacing the team and the powers and the setting each year - a set up that basically meant you had no reason to watch - why invest in the characters or over-arching plotline - or the extended mythos if it was all just going to be ignored in later seasons.
Well, the reason to care is that the plot will be finished before the end of the season. It's not like the Zordon era where the story took place throughout six seasons. The only thing that would come out of extending the story over 24 seasons is that it would get boring. It would be full of plot holes and most people wouldn't be able to keep up with the story after so many years.
Someone finally put it into words. I was 11 when Lost Galaxy aired and i found it tenuous trying to keep up and feel like i cared because In Space had such a momentous finale. Korrone as a hold over and redeemed Pink Ranger (like MMPR's Kat) was compelling, but honestly it felt weird that Bulk and Skull got separated. After Galaxy i pretty much never continued watching the show.
In Space was the first Power Rangers season I watched when I was 4/5 years old and when my family first got Netflix in 2017 and I had been battling mental health issues related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. Power Rangers In Space and the Late Saban era Power Rangers seasons (Lost Galaxy to Wild Force) became my comfort seasons because of I grew up watching those seasons and In Space on VHS tapes before Netflix took those seasons off and Hasbro put a smidgen of episodes on RU-vid (thanks Hasbro!). In Space was an icon to my childhood due to its season long storyline, gripping episodes and memorable moments, seeing the former bullies turned, policemen, detectives, chimps, job seekers, alien hunters Bulk and Skull lead out the citizens of Angel Grove in the final battle during Astronema’s siege is forever burned in my memory.
I really like Power Rangers In Space and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (they are pretty much linked)! The Silver Ranger has one of the coolest looking power suits. These shows are also the missing link between Power Rangers and Star Trek. The storyline and everything else about the shows are great as well.
Is it just me, or do the psycho Rangers look like vampiric rangers? I absolutely LOVED the Space series for every reason this man mentions. The ground breaking continuous storylines, great character archs not feeling superficial or rushed, outstanding new music and can we agree that the space ship command center was gorgeous inside and out? Such a time to have been a kid when power rangers debuted and this vid makes me want to go back and rewatch P.R.I.S. all over again.
I like to see the background of all the rangers honestly. I love this channel. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that still loves the power rangers
In Space along with Lost Galaxy are simply put, the best PR seasons of the entire franchise. Finally we saw some real stakes and emotional moments going away from the Little House on the Prairie format they have been following so far. I really hope we see stuff like this in the new PR Universe Netflix is rumoured to be preparing.
I for some reason can never forget the scene where they're in a forest area and the statue firgures up in the wall come to life and start fighting, the scene of the dinosaur skeletons coming to life, and the scene where the red ranger is being held over the pit of lava! I also can't forget some kid in my apartment building having the blue ranger while I had the red ranger and wanting to steal it from him... You know, the cool "squeeze their legs and the head changes figures!" 😃
you might as well go in order. Lost Galaxy literally feels like a continuation of In Space. I remember at the time it felt like an epilogue to Power Rangers.
@@PatZalatoris I think the “difference”, canonically anyway, was Zedd, Rita and Divatox were human-ish. All the ones who turned to dust were monsters/machines so I guess they technically had no “souls”? Ecliptor was definitely robbed, though. He deserves more than being ashed.
This is a great breakdown! As I commented in a previous video, Karone is my favorite female character in the franchise. I’d enjoy seeing an analysis of her!
I Personally would like for you to do them in Order, as much as I am Anticipating the Time Force Season, I think it's Best You should Do these in Chronical Order
This was the pinnacle of PR. I remember i was in year 5 back in 1999 and watched every single episode after school and record them all. PR in space IMO had the best story line!
I love your videos so much! Definitely would love to see a video that goes through every season in order if possible! I think it would be cool if you can do a behind a scenes of the 2017 film as well!
I watched Power Ranger In Space and I never thought of it being a kids show. It is a mixture and Asian Martial Arts and Star Trek and Star Wars. I was under the impression that this series was to be the end of the Power Rangers franchise since Zordon was sacrificed and his energy wave wiped out all the Villains.
You're not alone. Power Rangers and the MCU are very much alike. Here's a video showing some of the ways the two mirror one-another. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zfpWx8AMw68.html
Cool behind-the-scenes. Yeah definitely do them in order. Next with Lost Galaxy since it takes place after the Zordon era and starts with a new cast each season.
If i remember correctly Andro's actor sister played the sister of Super Girl on Super Girl, was in Not Another Teen movie, and in Marlyn Manson music video (in which apparently she was under 18).
This is legit the last season I ever really watched Power Rangers. I was in like Jr High when it came out and it wasn’t cool anymore to watch Power Rangers. But, I had little brothers who still watched Power Rangers so I’d sneak and watch it with them when I could.
I wish they had the budget to do the phantom ranger back story even if it had to carry over to lost galaxy . Also I hate the changing of the people who played the rangers every year .
I always wonder what is the power scale of the power rangers up to In space? As a kid I always imagined each was stronger than the previous (mmpr < zeo < turbo < space) but upon growing up I’m unsure
In the Zordon era, the power scaling is linear except when the plot demands it. That's why older rangers are always able to come back and help the current team deal with newer monsters. Likewise, the megazords are stated to be more powerful in the following seasons.
@@xero1048 It was definitely implied and/or stated that the thunder zords were stronger than the Dinozords by zordon, and then heavily implied that the zeo rangers and zords are significantly stronger but they never say much about turbo to my knowledge. Fan theories say that all the zeo rangers bodies basically couldn't handle the power (like Jason / gold ranger). I don't think anything was specifically stated saying Space rangers were stronger but just by the scaling of the villains they defeat and what you see them do I think it's widely assumed they are at least stronger than turbo. Besides that it's hard to compare or say for sure..
@@danswope just having gone back and listened to dr. Oliver’s recount of the ranger history in Dino thunder he states that going from zeo to turbo was “shifting to a higher gear”. I’d say we can agree with fair amount of certainty that turbo is stronger than zeo, at least until zeo builds up enough power over time to surpass it. As for space, it’s incredibly difficult as every team for here on scales to one another. If we say space is stronger than turbo, then This kinda implies that mmpr-turbo we’re all weaker than every other season of base rangers. On the other hand, if we say space is weaker than turbo then that would put their powers at mmpr range? Likely stronger than the ninja mmpr powers but still weaker than zeo. This would make sense to me as then basically every team is about the same level as the mmpr rangers unless otherwise stated or given power ups such as zeo and turbo.
@@xero1048 oh man. I hadn't thought about his talk in Dino thunder. I can definitely get on board with most base level ranger teams being roughly late mmpr strength especially when later teams get alot of temporary boosts, well said!
Love your content!!! Would you ever do the same for the Japanese versions of Super Sentai? I know that the plots of the American versions and Japanese versions are not the same. Would love to see you breakdown the Japanese ones too! 🙏🏾
My brothers and I were fans of the series and we all saw the ending as a true end of a story with Zordan and all sets of characters. I'm happy they explained especially with Lost Galaxy that it all mattered and we saw returning cast members as the years went on. I remember someone asking why TJ got bumped down to kind of 3rd in command. But I always saw it that Andros was more experienced and knew things they didn't. Also the show changed movements and instead of a relationship between the Pink Ranger who the leader of the team. This changed to the team leader and the Yellow Ranger. Also as the other series went on to Lightspeed Rescue and so forth. They actually had other rangers have relationships and deal with drams as young adults instead of teens.
Now, if we could only get an animated Power Rangers season, or a live action Transformers season. Then we would have a Transformers and Power Rangers crossover either way.
Skull briefly appeared in the first episode of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Bulk realizes they forgot him when going to Terra Venture. The Astra Megaship was used in Lost Galaxy
Heyy! Big Fan of your content & Huge fan of the power rangers 😊☺️☺️ Question… Do you think the Phyco powers & Lord Drakkon are the most power & the most to give the good guys problems of all their Villains?? Awesome if you reply to this, & thank you again for Your AWESOME Content :);):)
In Space was the last Power Rangers I watched as a kid. I'd watched since the beginning, but this was around the time we moved because my dad retired from the military. We moved cross country and the school I moved to, I was alone in still watching it. Then when it was announced that Lost Galaxy was a brand new story with none of the same Rangers, I lost interest in the series. Looking back, I really don't remember that much about In Space or Turbo for that matter. I've never had the best memory, but I do remember plenty about MMPR and even a bit about Zeo.
I am current BINGE-WATCHING The "IN SPACE" Series now. I agree that this season(Next To TIMEFORCE) is More Mature than the other Seasons of the POWER RANGERS SERIES. GOOD VIDEO!😎😎
I think the only way this season could have made it more impactful. Would have bern to have Jason or Tommy return to help out and it is Jason or Tommy who ends up having to shatter Zordon's tube and kill him to release his wave of good. We never saw Andros interact with Zordon as a mentor like the original first 6 Rangers. Could you imagine if Jason or even Kimberly coming back to make that final blow. I think it would have had a bigger impact.
Super agree with this. Especially since they didn't know if the series would continue after this season. The original team making the final blow would have even more perfect.
@@kijanilantern7111 Yes as much as I loved in Space. I wish they had the foresight to at least bring back Tommy or Jason to finish off Zordon. It could be a very emotional scene. Andros could have gone up to the ship with Tommy or Jason with him to help. Andros could have dealt with his sister while Tommy or Jason had a heartfelt tearful goodbye with Zordon. Just like Andros they would protest and say. No there has to be another way. Then just like Andros. The final blow is given and they do the blow with thier helmet off. I think the Astro megaship could give Tommy or Jason thier powers back temporarily by charging up thier power coin for the final episode
@@SlayerRunefrost Especially since we all thought it was the end of the show forever. Bringing back some or all of the original team with restored powers even if temporary would have made sense. I was floored when I saw a promo for Lost Galaxy and was shocked to see it would continue in a diffrent way.
Space was my favorite, from the characters, zords, darker, more power struggles, everything had effort compared. My only wish it had its very own movie. Wish other series took note from this one
