dame hated def jam trying to take credit for the roc a fella success so they made a deal to take him out the game..jay just did what he had to do..lyor blackball dame dash cos he just a money grabbing s.o.b.
Def Jam Recordings is an American record label, focused predominantly on hip-hop and urban music, owned by Universal Music Group Def Jam was founded by Rick Rubin in his dormitory in Weinstein Hall at New York University I use to think Hip Hop was Black Music but every record label is owned by Whites, every distribution label owned by Whites....Black man make it, the White man take it.
Dame was telling the truth about Lyor. He's a snake and always been a snake. I have to research Barry Weiss. If he is scarier than Suge, I can imagine what Barry has done. This is why it is important for Blacks to get into business so we can own our music.
Sounds like what the mob would make ya sign after not coming right with them, them jews care bout jews no1 else it d ont matter black, Brown, purple if u disrespect Isreal, y'all b a crackhead felon in a month 👍💯😂😂🖕🖕
A kingdom divided against itself can't stand........the rap business is against itself meaning everyone wants to make it to the top and will destroy the next artist to get there
Despite the Niggaz that troll u, THIS is y we fuck wit u because of videos like this, when it's long we no it's specific and MORE detailed. U got subscribers trying to get in the industry and you telling the secrets and telling them what to look out for, the next best thing can be one of your subscribers and might not even know it
Dame pissed a lot of people off but they took his antics because he had Jay Z. When he didn't get his way in a deal he would threaten them with Jay Z. He'd threaten to pull Jay Z from Def Jam, not let Jay be featured on one of Def Jam's other artist songs, all of this worked for him but as soon as Jay was gone he had nothing to threaten people with anymore. Jay Z was the source of Dame's power. Dame's industry friends weren't really his friends. They knew they had to deal with him if they wanted to work with Jay.
@@Jukau The hallmark of an accomplished businessman, is exercising tact or diplomacy (expressing yourself in a way by word and deed as not to be insulting or condescending) that's what Dame Dash failed to utilize to optimum effect, thereby the escalation of descension within the inner workings of Roc A Fella records, were bad blood was already ripe in the air amongst themselves, lead to the penultimate downfall of this once prominent record company.
Most new artists come into the game with a buzz. The more successful new artitsts come to the labels with singles, mixtapes, and a respectable social media presence. The labels finance these artists under the guise that it is a high risk investment. I partially agree with that, but labels are no longer putting in the work to make an artist successful. For the most part, they look for artists who need a little push. With 360 deals, labels are able to squeeze the maximum amount of revenue out of the artist while sharing very little with the artist. 360 deals are a sham.
Aside from Dames' bragadocious persona, he knew those music big wigs were snakes. They had to basically throw their hustle money in as investments for their own label since they were getting doors slammed in their face. This was why Dame felt they can have their OWN shit (yes, have others invest so they can build but it would still have their name on things) I guess Jay did the ultimate bait n switch on his friends, but now who's the slave, Dame or Jay?😕
I was watching this on my playstation and dead ass came to it on my phone just to see if anyone commented about the wrong Barry Weiss. 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 Salute to you bro
lolol please ....this is a mish mash of old magazine articles and hip hop documentaries... he even talks about the characters as if he knows anything about them other than their NAMES ! lollolllol ....
Karceno Was In The Music Industry When He Was Younger. Many Photos With Exces and Artists Like Keenan & Kel, Nick Cannon, Kid & Play. He Knows What He is Talking About.
Beef between Lyor Cohen vs. Black America. Black people should fully own their Black culture (music). No one else have no business making money off of us unless it is a true partnership and they need to give back to the black community since they make money from them.
If you don’t own the the product you’re a PEE-ON! Business owners will never cave in to 3rd party players who call them out! You wanna be treated right? OWN YOUR SHIT! Otherwise it’s just business. There’s no “Hook a brother up” in business. Know that going in and build an exit strategy. Be serious about owning and be a gentleman about it. Emotions have nothing to do with it. Build lasting relationships. Stay in your lane. Whenever you sit at the table just remember it’s not your table! Until it is!!!
Ceno I love how you brought up the show Vinyl.. You know there are some powerful forces at work when a show Exec produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger gets cancelled.
Jay-Z did nothing wrong. Business partners aren't meant to last forever. Somebody has to move on in order for everyone to progress. Jay-Z had to leave Damon simply because Damon poisoned everything with his ways. If they won't work with Dame that means they aren't working with Jay either. Jay had to separate. This is fucking business, not some friends forever bullshit. Based strictly on where Jay is now who can honestly say he made a bad decision? Loyalty and business don't mix. It has never worked. Somebody always has to leave.
Dude need to elevate you're maturity Jay-Z fell for the individualism trap they always fell for collectivism was key black dude's don't see the fuckery
Wow....Def Jam was a sinking ship. Lyor Cohen saw that RocAFella was a money generator and Lyor fucked it all up. Those jewish executives didnt want a privatized black music corporation to do better than the distribution companies. The same thing that happened to Death Row, happened to Roc-A-Fella. Lyor positioned Jay-Z for the presidency and the label went downhill as Jay stepped down as president four years later. What a shame. Thats like Jimmy Iovine bringing Dre over to Interscope but the inside plan was to have him take over but he caught up with Eminem and 50 Cent which enabled Interscope to survive after Tupac Shakur died.
you are correct karceno, ive been knowing some things for a long time. im happy you have this platform to educate people. some still won't believe you but its ok because there are some that know exactly what your talking about. keep it up.
dame didn't have the right approach but had the right vision, sorry for this misunderstood line. wish ya'll all the best in trying to figure out life's dark corners
If you all would stop arguing with each other you'd realize karceno is actually giving some very important and relevant information...ceno out of everyone doing vids on the culture vulture yours by far is far more in-depth and comprehensive...ceno you sound like you got a lot of knowledge about the music bizness...good job
Props *Karceno*! Excellent info and knowledge. Barry Weiss is definitely not the one to phuq with in the biz, but above him (at least back in the day) Clive Calder who founded Jive / Zomba and used to be Weiss' boss is no joke either. Him & Jeff "Mutt" Lange came from South Africa to the UK and cornered much of the music industry from Britteny Spears, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Def Leppard, Shain Twain (Lange's wife) and many others. They're so powerful there's only around 2 public pictures of them each. Weiss' photo you can find off google and he's in the Atribe Called Quest documentary "Beats, Rhymes & Life".
I'm convinced some of y'all dudes just want to hate on Karceno. Some of y'all don't even watch the videos y'all just comment hateful shit and hit the unlike button just because.
ya'll YOUNG BRO ... There's probably NO HIP HOP INDUSTRY without Rick Rubin, Lyor Cohen, and Russel Simmons combined Those 3 started Def Jam .. Know your HISTORY !!! Dame ... MAAD LOVE for you BUT ... Lyor is an Executive Pioneer of the Hip Hop Industry ... There's No Run DMC, There's No LL Cool J or Beastie Boys let alone Def Jam without Rick Rubin, Lyor Cohen & Russel Simmons.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS NIGGA AGAIN. Not gone lie I gota hear it.
Wrong photo of Barry. This is the one he's talking about. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Weiss#:~:text=Barry%20Weiss%20(born%20February%2011,the%20RCA%2FJive%20Label%20Group.
You don't make any sense in terms of record sales. If a record sales for 15.99 x 2000000 million units is 31,980.000 gross so they couldn't of lost money because it doesn't take 30 million to make a record.
Karceno at this time def jam also had dmx meth and Redman. Ja Rule was hot. Man they had star power. By 98-99 ja Rule was a bigger star than Jay. And Dame Dash was pissed off about these niggas wearing def jam jackets. Shit was hilarious.
Lil Homie... Do your research better... Because you are on some of your shit... And if you try to be a reporter you can't be off your shit... Especially knowing Hip Hop is a culture it is something we live and breathe... So my advice like it or not but you need it do more research and talk to some people and speak better... Maybe you'll get a larger following and if you got a following now that's too large they're not that smart either
You should do one where Lyor Cohne fucked over Lupe Fiasco. Lyor hold Lupe third album hostage for two or three years. Then Lyor put it out but the album was more sanitized. Lupe's career haven't been the same since.
what the fuck are you talking about lol just playing jay-z makes money off those blueprints not puts money down he is seriously paid in it private meeting more game time for playing pound over and over again money is built not spent
