Hi Everyone! I posted a loooong rant about one of my comments in this video. It’s over on my Instagram @susanyara. I’ve been feeling a little off lately. I’m sure you have too. Don’t worry about me! I’m a grown woman and can handle a lot, but man am I triggered by comments on fragrance being bad lately. GIVE IT A BREAK. If you enjoy fragrance, get that fragrance! Love all of you so much!!
Susan Yara agreed. Ive stopped tuning in to some people because that seemed like the only focus of their video. I don’t like a lot of fragrance, but if it’s light and doesn’t irritate my skin, it’s nice occasionally 😊
Thank you for understanding that this is gimmicky and that they weren’t using the products to be viewed as the best for your skin. I hate when people react to things that is obviously for entertainment and get upset about the things that are meant to be jokes.
Omg yes. I saw someone make a reaction video to Paris Hilton's lasagna video & people were acting she was legitimately trying to be a chef. It's like, just enjoy the fun!
This video made me laugh the entire time 😂 it's so hilarious that Susan is trying to add in some good advice and talk serious about skincare in between the hilarity and hijinks of the Try Guys 😂 😂 😂
It's nice if your skin can handle fragrance in skincare, more option of products to try. I'll stick to my fragrance free products cos my skin feels better with it. I wish every brand has 2 option for their products: with fragrance & fragrance free.
This is my favorite skincare routine reaction video. I like The Try Guys and didn’t expect Susan to react to it. I laughed the entire time. Her reaction to the peel-off mask was the best.
LOLOLOL I never expected the Try Guys and Mixed Makeup to overlap but I'm here for it! Y'all should collab when the whole quarantine mess is over. Idk how that would work but I'd watch it.
Hi Susan! I’m a long time fan of yours and I was wondering if you could create a video talking about your skincare journey, from the moment you decided to start incorporating products up until present day. I’m really curious on what changes you have made over the years, skin treatments that you find valuable, and of course your own thoughts/ opinions on the ever-changing skin care industry.
This is the first skin care reaction video that makes me feel bad for Susan. This is the video equivalent of Susan being dropped off in the middle of a frat party for thirty minutes.
Ted Miller Hahaha. I was always the friend that picked up my friends the next morning at frat houses. The guys would walk by and say, “Hiiiiiii Susan” and know I was pissed. 🤣
Came here just to comment real quick but I’m going to watch later. From me seeing the try guys video already and Susan’s face in the thumbnail I can’t wait. She’s probably going to be so disappointed
RJ Cole Same honestly. Although I use more natural ingredients, a lot of them actually have fragrance (mostly from essential oils), but it doesn’t bother me or my skin. To each their own!
This seems like the kind of the thing you would do at a slumber party with your friends, like a nice night in but for everyday use or normal regime there are so many things that you don’t need
It's just fragrance allergy is the most common out there in skincare. Also, it's that people can become so sensitive to it that they'll break out inti a rash if someone uses room spray or perfume. It's just a safety measure to prevent future irritation. I really like Rose scents so don't use any fragrance on my skin care but can use rose perfume. I'm just limiting my exposure to it. Also when a brand uses fragrance, it sometimes gives the impression they don't care about the customers skin and just want to sell lots of it, which is good for them but not reassuring.
@@elopix234 yes as its preservatives that are a result of the whole green washing pareben free movement that are the main issue, but at least preservatives have a purpose in skincare. Fragrance just doesn't. Burn a candle if you want the experience.
m - Fragrance does have a function: it disguises unpleasant odours (natural stuff is nice but it’s not always pleasant) and it makes the product seem luxurious. Its effects are psychological (same reason that pharmacists will add mint to their compounds, they’re using the placebo effect). For some people, these are all wins, but like you said, others experience adverse effects
That line about looking laid off hits a little different this week 😩 But on topic, I like that bubble mask because it doesn't harden. And it's super fun/ny obviously. The tingly crawly feeling is less annoying than regular clay masks to me. Granted I haven't bought it in a loong time
Love your reaction video! I have a suggestion. Actually, my recent nighttime skincare routine is almost the same as Jenn Im's skincare routine. I'd appreciate if you react to that video! Anyway, love your video
LOL! The longest stretch that Susan has ever had without adding commentary is when the guys have the gold mask on and the hand masks as well. We are all shocked and horrified at the whole sequence and it’s so funny to watch Susan’s expressions! We feel you!
Since Hyram reacted to this Try Guys video, I was waiting for Susan to also react. I have noticed that when most Americans do Korean skincare/makeup videos, they use products that are gimmicky. There are way better Korean products on the market.
G P truth! I am not a fan of anything that comes in gimmicky packaging. I’ve been using Korean Skincare for 5 years and when I first got into it yeah give me the cutesy packaging. But over time I learned that products in the cutesy packaging is all about the packaging and not about the quality of the actual product.
yeah but for entertainment purposes there are a lot of people trying out gimmicky products in videos in general, which I don't see anything wrong with. when it comes to the actual market in the US for korean products/the western consumption of korean products in general, i'd imagine brands like cosrx are some of the most popular
1) the try guys are hilarious. 2) I like a light fragrance in my skin care. But not like Huda fragrance. Fresh scents. 3) I used bubble masks on my nephews. I got the ELF one because it was cheap and didn’t have too much irritating stuff in it. My sons and nephews loved it. ❤️
A ranch and cucumber toner would be a great starting product for a male marketed skin care line. Maybe do something fun like a two in one lube and moisturizer called Weiner Lotion lol. With little nerf dart shaped zit stickers!! Anybody wanna hire me ?
Lmao! These guys are freaking awesome!! Also I'm the type that likes a little fragrance in my skincare, injust love the feeling of like feeling clean and fresh and my bf enjoys smelling lol.
A quick note on the fragrance I've noticed that now that there is this ' fragrance is the devil narrative' I'm starting to see companies make fragrance free versions of their products and charge extra. Which confused me, how does removing an ingredient mske it more expensive. I feel like companies are capitalising on the fear mongering around fragrance
My main thing with fragrance is if you have "problematic", "irritated", or compromised skin barrier, you should probably avoid it to help give your skin a chance to heal at least. If your skin is clear and not inflamed/irritated go for it. I find my skin is calmer overall avoiding it
Glad I'm not the only one who loves fragrance in my skincare products. It makes me happy! I am just not nor have I ever been one of those who will totally write off a products because it's fragranced. A lot of times it's a plus for me, especially if it's nice and clean smelling :)
I don't mind fragrance but it does have to be really low on the ingrediants list and I don't like Fragrance being in my serums, moisturizers, masks, and Sunscreen. But I don't mind fragrance in cleansers and toners.
Thank you so much for defending fragrance! I am aware and educated on the ways it can be bad for the skin and I would never invalidate someone's negative experience with it. BUT, my skin doesn't mind it! And as someone who actually loves the experience of fragrant body care, I loved your lil' rant. Thanks for a great video 😁
I actually used one of those foot peeling socks the other day by Skinfood lol. I figured since we're all under quarantine, it'd be the best time since I'm not really going anywhere lol.
I wonder how people discover snail mucin is good for skin? did they see those trail and wipe it with their hand then they realize it made the skin healing or something
Maybe one day when looking at a snail they suddenly wonder why we rarely saw cuts on snail's body when snails literally dragging themselves on a rough surface all the time. Maybe....
I guess cultures where snails are a regular part of the diet are likely to discover something like that eventually? Same with oatmeal, you have it around, try it... Then eventually someone makes a saleable product from it.
Thank you for supporting fragrance in skincare! I'm sick of it being demonized! Some brands go overboard but I really enjoy a nice, light fragrance. After all, skincare should be enjoyable, right?
true, unfortunately my skin goes crazy when my skincare have fragrance :( also body products. every one is different, im just One of those sensitive skin people xD
I found you YESTERDAY (4-2-20)!! What a wealth of information!! I shared your video regarding your fight with health with my sister. I also wanted to share with you a mascara product that I use & love. THRIVE has their own line of makeup, and their mascara is awesome. I believe it’s vegan, which is important to some, but what sold me is the fibers that cling to one’s lashes. Really plumps them up, and washes off very easily.
I hate peel masks. I had such a bad experience with one. I know there's probably some good ones out there but I did exactly what it said and it pulled my skin so bad it felt like it slowly waxed my entire face. It was awful. I'll stick to my chemical exfoliants.
Hi Susan!! Please do a reaction video on Zoey Deutch’s skincare 😹 she seemed to be very rough on her acne-prone skin. Love to see ur reactions 🤓please share your opinion about foreo face brush❤️
Omgosh I missed the Parasite reference the first time through! That movie was awesome! And the fact that his friend was warning the one guy about BTS ARMY. He has no idea what he was asking for ! Lol 😂
I dont mean this to be rude but it use to be pretty much impossible to find fragrance free options for skincare which for me meant I couldn’t enjoy skincare cause it often triggered an allergic reaction. People being mad about skincare means I can now have a full routine of products that won’t irritate my skin, even if I have to hunt a lot harder then most to find those products still. Idk. It’s fine if you enjoy fragrance in you skin care, that’s great. But you’ve always had that option. I haven’t always had the option of using skincare because of irritating ingredients.
I get you and it was like that for me too. On the other hand, I think she is talking about the skincare police who bash her videos just cause she says she enjoys it. Its not like she says it wont harm you. She gives the warning, but also says she doesnt personally mind. You know?
the benefits of snail mucin are debatable and considering the typically cruel extraction methods I don't think it's a good ingredient. I wouldn't promote it.
Can’t speak for the benefits but there are brands that use humane extraction methods. For example, COSRX let’s them crawl around for a bit and then puts them back in their habitat. But I’m with you on avoiding brands that aren’t explicitly cruelty free
I used a foot peeling mask and I didn’t remember that Holy Thursday was coming up (Catholics wash each other’s feet on this day). But it all turned out okay because now we can’t go to church at all.
Yeah but Susan.. could we get every type of good skincare product in truly fragrance free versions and then I wouldn't complain. My problem is that being one of those you can barely use real fragrance sprayed conservatively on my clothes and absolutely not in my skincare that will sit on my skin all day or night long... I get itching, hives and all of that.. I know it's a personal problem but it is really hard to find nice and effective skincare, haircare and body care without obvious OR hidden fragrance in the form of essential oils. Honestly... I think fragrance has been marketed to us as an essential. Like, as if we are poorer and less luxurious if we don't drown our faces in things that smell 'nice'. A bit weird..
Susan, I don't know if you'll see this but whats the difference between brightening and lightening creams? I want to buy a vitamin c serum from bioderma but when I researched it, it had a lot of whitening reviews. Almost like it used to be for whitening product then they rebranded and said brightening. I watched your last video and I really want one but I don't want to be lightened. Anybody can answer btw I just need to know 😥😥😥
Melindah Mkhwanazi It basically means the same thing. The use of the name ”whitening” is based in racism- that’s why Korean makeup has a problem with a lack of shade ranges. They use the name ”whitening” to imply that it’ll keep your skin on the lighter side. Brightening is what you want to look for because then it’s marketed as being aimed at helping with dullness and discoloration.
@@xosecox12 You make a good point about the shade range issue because most Asian women look whiter than paper that's what the like. I Googled the vitamin c serum and bioderma used to market it as a whitening product in Asia. It was called "The white one" the packaging looks very very similar to one released here in South Africa. Maybe I should go look at the ingredient list!
Susan, thank you for your comment on fragrance!!! I've recently bought the Cerave hydrating cleanser, which is fragrance free. Honestly, it's just plain *bizarre* not to have some sort of scent in a product. I'll continue using it, but I do love a sensorial experience at the end of the day.
I love this channel so much but I personally disagree about fragrance being in skincare. Fragrance breaks me out really badly but if other people like it then go for it!! :)
Thanks a lot for bringing a beautiful ray of sunshine as usual to our lives Mother Yara. For the newcomers; we don't use the term "coconut oil" in this community, it is banned. Just wanted let you know :)
I quite enjoy a a nice scent in some of my products, Personally I just avoid the makeup/skin care that’s overwhelmingly fragranced because 1) it gives me a really bad headache and 2) I feel like if the fragrance is that intense there must be a lot of it in the product. If I wanted to smell a certain way then I’d have bought a perfume n not makeup/skin care. A nice, appealing light fragrance is quite lovely tho, it’s all part of the experience x
@@MsJeanneMarie not at all! I used one last September. You leave it on for however long the package says, and it takes about 3-7 days for your skin to start peeling. It looks like your feet are a snake, shedding that layer of skin. You should try it!
Kendall Stark lol I might! lol though, I’m kind of a barefoot girl. lol Everytime I get a pedicure, I tell the nail tech to skip foot file. lol I worked hard for that thick layer of skin! lol
