Turkey will overcome any crisis as it is a great country, with lots of advantages, including location, climate, etc. But its biggest advantage is the Turks themselves, most friendly and hard-working people. Best wishes from Ukraine!

This is so informative Mick, we are all suffering the ravages of rising inflation, unequal wealth distribution and increased gas prices. I first travelled to Turkey 30 years ago and it felt very third world, now I feel as though it’s developed at a fantastic pace whilst retaining its charm and beauty, no amount of inflation will put me off visiting this year.

I love the fact that you have put this across in such a logical way. After visiting Turkey for over ten years, I took a leap of faith and purchased a villa in Calis, in November 2021 with a view to spending more time and my hard earned British pension in Turkey. In my personal opinion, Turkey is on the up and the Uk is quickly going downhill. It took two weeks to purchase a villa in Turkey, 3 months later in the Uk I am still waiting for a property sale to go through - enough said ! Like yourselves and many others, we love Turkey and will be supporting the place we now choose to call our spiritual home.

Hi, Mick and Trudie Hi, Mick and Trudie. I came as a young man to the UK in 1958. I thought I would be dead at 65/75. So, precisely at that juncture, I retired and distributed my assets to 4 male children. That is a mistake I will never repeat if I was born again. However, Two of my wives died and the third one fell in love with another lady so, I married a woman in 2013 who lives in India. She was 38 when I married her and I am now 82 years old but very mobile, young. I subscribed to your show a couple of months ago and I've seen all the videos. I must say that you are a very good RU-vidr and I only wish your lovely wife did more of her videos as she is very good and I think she has a great sense of humour. The reason I watched your videos is your accuracy of the situations and I felt extremely at ease and felt a genuine sincerity in your's and Trudie's communication to your viewers. There is no possibility of my wife getting a spouse visa to the UK, because of; 1. To convince the Home Office of my marriage with her is a genuine marital relationship is an uphill task and 2. she is hopeless, in learning the English language. We have around £150,000 (Sterling) in savings in India. I am a retired professor of Theology from Leeds University. I am a gambler, more precisely a professional one. I chose to settle in and around Fethiye because of all the reasons you are already aware of in general, but more importantly, this place will provide my wife with a residency permit, and for both of us to travel to European casinos where I gamble regularly until the Covid-19 hit the world. We can start a very good restaurant as she is a fine cook of Indian cuisine however, this all depends on your response to my comments here. Generally speaking, I generate £50 to £80 thousand per year from my gambling. I am registered with HMRC as a professional gambler. I leave you with kind regards to both of you and hope to hear from you very soon. With very warm wishes for your success in whatever field you are in and wish you both good health and prosperity. @@YazziesWeirdVids To be frank, I understand what the west is going through. But Turkey suffered much more than western countries because of political islam and islamist cults. For instance, the British Inflation is at 9,1% while the government in Turkey claims that the Turkish inflation value is at 63%. Which is also a lie, the real inflation is closer to 135%. This happened because interest rates were kept low in the face of inflation in accordance to an “Islamic” teaching that says interests are evil. And the government supresses those who speak against this madness. These cults and the politcal islamist government ransacks the rights and money of Turkish people with the mask of religion. And we can’t do anything about it because the goverment owns everything from law to media.Unfortunately at the moment, Turkey is in a very similar shape to pre-collapse Soviet Russia. Hopefully in the next elections we will see a change in the ruling party.

While I can say that Turkey has great prospects, unfortunately with the wrong government and economic policies the country will continue to decline. One thing that has struck me since living in Turkey is the poor quality of the education and schooling system. This is just my opinion, but to me it looks like all the government spending is going to sectors which are perhaps less important or for personal gain. I'd be interested to know if anyone has noticed this too!

Both my children grew up in Türkiye and went to state schools there, at the age of 14 one of my girls started school in the UK she was above her other class mates in mathematics, Science and even English by a considerable amount, the fact is they put a lot more pressure on students to learn in Türkiye but often they have no time to be children 🙈 maybe the system needs revising 🤔

Thanks Mick for that very informative video. I am an American expat currently living in Ukraine but have been looking at the possibility of moving to Turkey. I started my research last fall after a visit to Mamaris (where I was overwhelmed by how beautiful and modern Turkey was)....however all of economic turmoil and the current situation with the "supposed war" here in Ukraine have put my timeline back a bit. I plan to travel to Turkey in a month or so by myself to investigate more in person.

A great video, thanks again Mick amca. But as a local, affected by the inflation rates here in Turkey, I have to inform you that buying an economy car (let alone a mid-class or premium one) has become a distant dream for us skilled workers too. People with 10+ years of experience in white-collar jobs can consider themselves lucky if they get a company car, or if they can make a purchase of a used, economy car. But I do share your hope that this will change sometime in the future... Keep up the great work, we love your videos!

It has increased due to massive inflation, so prices in pounds or dollars etc , is a bit higher than in 2019 ( in pounds ) so no better off with 19.5 T/ Lira to pound ,May 2022 ,than 2019 when it was 7.4 T/L to the pound . Pint local beer 16to 20 T/L in 2019 , Now 45 to 70 depending what bar you use ( may 2022 ) it all really just follows the pound , price wise .

EXCELLENT breakdown. You're a smart man mate, unfortunately some of my fellow Turks can't see that far ahead. Don't forget the govt lost İstanbul because istanbulites refused to pay for plastic bags! The hate is spurned on by all the OPPOSİTİON. Now they're using Gen Z who think everyone in the West/EU become wealthy after school. I'm in Australia, My daughter worked full time doing shift work as a flight attendant AND full time university and only now is closer to getting her job as a paramedic after 2 years, İn the interim she worked other jobs and 000emergency. İ feel sorry for the Turkish youth as the opposition & Islamophobic parents are bringing them up with hatred and entitlement. Watching RU-vid videos of them refusing to work & demanding the govt them cushy jobs without doing anything for themselves and leaning on parents financially saddens me. Meanwhile business can't find workers. Anyway i babbled on but again thanks for this, I've shared on twitter.

I've seen many negative postings on youTube recently, it's nice to see someone speak up for Turkey, but I don't see the need to talk down the UK at the same time. Especially when Turkey are in a really difficult financial position, and are fire fighting to get out of it. The UK are still still seen as credit worthy, not just by me, but by the credit rating agencies, and by most of the business World at large. I had the same thoughts regarding Tourism, I'm sure Turkey are really missing that income. I will be their in about six weeks, and I'll make my small contribution to their economy. And I'm sure that I'll get the nice welcome that I always receive when I'm there.

I've lived and worked in Istanbul for nearly a quarter of a century and find much sense and truth in what you have to say. The concerns here as the spoiler are pretty much completely political. A system has been created placing so much in the hands of one man that his going, which is inevitable one day, threatens dangerous power vacuums. The policy if dividing the people into two major camps if roughly equal size, as in Britain too, rather than striving to unite more and more, means chaos in the mid to longer term future is quite likely in my view. Who is going to succeed the present guy in charge? Can it be effected smoothly and better unite Turkish people behind a stable new governance?
