That double eye face on the Venusian really screws up my vision. 😳👍

What would make this even better is if the coffee machine came to life and revealed that a race of sentient robots is _also_ trying to take over the Earth.

I wish this had kept going and become a huge comedy! "Oh really, Venusian? So clever you are...well, I'm afraid you and the Martian are both about to go extinct, for we the Jupitarians have already come for this planet." "HA HA HA! Please, Jupitarian, all three of you are fools! We the Neptunians have conquered this mud ball ages ago!" "Oh, I am sorry, but all of you are quite wrong...for my people have already conquered all of yours! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nobody ever expects Uranus!!"

I'm sure even Rod would appreciate what advances in special effects were available 60 years after that show aired.

Very nice edit of the scene. Hell, even Frankie Avalon's Venus was made shortly before this episode, but you can tell the song was edited into this alternate version.

Funny thing about this scene. Of course, you can easily figure out how they did the three hands for John Hoyt, but they did a great job with it. If you look closely at 2:58, the third hand is starting to pick up the coffee cup, then they switch to Barney Phillips, and when they return to Hoyt, his own hand is lifting the coffee cup and the third hand was holding the cigarette pack. Kinda hard for someone reaching from behind to lift a coffee cup to another guy's mouth.... 😆

That was fun! I was 11 at the time when I stumbled into the Twilight Zone. This ( the original version) was the first episode of the Twilight Zone I ever saw. Got me hooked. They had started showing them in syndication in the early evening around 1966 in Los Angeles, CA.

I remember back in the early 80's when I was a little boy, various local TV channels would sometimes show these old TZ episodes in the early morning hours. Obviously at that age it was seriously scary and nightmarish for me. But as I got older I clearly saw just how intelligently these creepy, dark stories were put together and strongly acted!

I recently discovered that John Hoyt (the guy who played the three armed Martian in this episode) also played Grampa Kanisky, Chief Kanisky's father, on the early '80s sitcom, "Gimme A Break".

I'm flattered that these two alien species find our planet so beautiful, they're both fighting over it!

Being a Martian with advanced intelligence you should have known cigarette smoking was dangerous and that Venice was inhabited long before Mars and had suitable temperatures billions of years ago.

In the original story, titled, "Nobody Here But Us Martians," the original space visitor took the form of a stray dog in the diner. Serling opted to "play fair" with the TV audience.

I've never seen that particular episode --- and that ending was BRILLIANT.

Alternate ending #2: A man walks in and says "sorry dudes, we folks are coming to colonize and we intercepted you Venusians." We are from Uranus. ;-p

Great effect. The original one was not even close. Ah, progress! It reminds me of how much better "The Next Generation" looks compared to the original Star Trek series.

I actually like it better than the original. The make up looks more realistic. And the music is a nice touch.

For the longest time the wife and I just assumed that the counter man was Claude Akins. But it was actually Barney Philips. They had the same smile. And could easily have passed for brothers.

This is my favorite episode and I just loved this alternative ending! WOW! The funny thing is that the martian had all this technology but didn't know what being wet was? LMAO! And liked Cigarettes? Made me think that they probably just were only decades ahead of use lol!

They tried to do a similar thing with double exposure back during the original production (but still with only one extra eye) but they couldn’t get it quite right.

The music felt a bit too loud at the end, I felt it shouldn't have been louder than his laugh, more of a subtle counterpunch rather than a wild haymaker.

I saw it on Italian TV, on the night of the moon, when the first astronauts landed on our satellite, in 1969

Apparently, they were gonna use a special effect for his third eye in the original, but they had to go practical because you could literally see through the eye.

Interesting that he had 4 eyes instead of 3.
