In fact,he DID got tiered in the franchise, both games & books,in which in both games & books,a while after the MCI,he designed the funtime animatronics to do the work for him under their kid-friendly faces. He himself lost interest as well in luring kids to their death by setting traps & gaining their trust,in the books he literally kidnapped his last victim (of the MCI) to his death,as well as in the game's where he kidnapped Cassidy to her death,& murdered Charlie at the moment without luring. Yup he in fact did get tired of acting kid-firendly lol.

These videos made me realize two things. 1. This guy is an awesome RU-vidr and modeler 2. I would unironically watch a 40 minute documentary describing the design of the FNAF animatronics like they were real.
The way they "move" - that twitching, jerking, limp attempt at locomotion and articulation... it perfectly evokes what it must be like for a ghost in a machine. They _want_ to move. But it's hard. It's so hard. A weak listing spasm that accomplishes nothing. Not enough force. A sudden, mechanical jerk. Too much force. And the slow, grinding movements... the focus. For brief moments, they can hold enough attention and focus to what they're doing to make very small movements smooth and controlled. But none of it looks alive, no matter how much they want to be such.
Only thing is that I think these are some of the few that aren't possessed. In the book, the visit to the first game's location does it right - each has their own personality, but also is uniquely unnatural and at times doesn't do anything in a natural way. Foxy particularly is described to move each part and joint individually, but can be 'lithe and agile' when he wants, and even goes and powers down sometimes.
I feel like this is what William would say if he just watched them like there were playthings or lab rats. plus this is just creepy just watch the video and read this at the same time... it's freaky. good job!!
The creepiest thing to me is how you captured their movement. Really brings the power into the "possessed robot" concept, the way their movement is halted and weak, like the soul is hindered by the husk they're possessing, which is all but hollow of mechanisms
I'm pretty sure these are some of the few that don't have souls, but they are also Afton's own work. Though, they do have the attribute that in the first book Foxy had - it almost sometimes seems like each piece moves independently, rather than in one smooth movement - with Foxy having later in that book been described as lithe and agile, it seems that might be how the systems actually worked.
They’re honestly terrifying, and what made it worse was when I noticed the Freddy-looking one is the only one that will follow the camera throughout this entire video. He’s almost always looking towards the camera.
You know what detail unsettles me the most? The lack of eyelids. Many animatronics in FNaF do have them, but them lacking here really adds to the unsettling factor of them, as they are always looking
I couldn't put my finger on why their stares were so unnerving, but that's exactly it. The lack of eyelids also make them look more crude and unfinished, a cobbled-together mess.
And, as mentioned in the book, they can look down inside of their bodies to see the person they have trapped inside, which you can see Freddy do before he dispenses the “person” at the end of the vid. I know this is really annoying to some people but holy crap that's a lot of likes.
It’s funny how whenever people try to draw the twisted ones they look like the nightmare animatronics, yet looking at these alongside their descriptions it just is obvious that this is as close as we’re gonna get to seeing what they actually looked like.
Well that's because most depictions of the twisted ones are in their illusion form right? The illusions make the animatronics look like horrid grotesque monsters while the ones in the video are more akin to their true forms.
@@noking1672 yeah same! But when i saw that “scene” where Foxy’s “chest plate” opened up i thought that was way more alike what stood in the book about it.
I literally watch this monthly, and still can’t get over the part at 1:35 where it shows a human hoping out of the chest cavity. This is just so amazing and truly a work of art
(Spoilers for one of the books) Isn't there a part where one of the charecters is inside of twisted freddy? I haven't read them in a while so I might be mistaken
@Maxter084 It’s been a while for me too, but yeah, because in the second book the twisted animatronics are trying to hunt down Charlie and capture her. They do end up doing so and taking her somewhere, I forget where, I think it’s her old house and they start like going into the ground with her inside? I forget. But yeah I think one of the lines he uses in the video is from when Charlie was inside Twisted Freddy (I think the figure that jumps out at 1:35 is supposed to be Charlie)
Honestly this makes more sense than the “actual” designs. If the robots are going to be obscured by the illusion discs 99% of the time, there’s no reason to really polish them, add joint covers, etc.
@@cozzy7804 Exactly what I’m saying. When the disc is active, you can’t see the actual robot, and the only reason it would be turned off would be for maintenance, which Afton would be doing, and he knows about the discs. But because no one else would see the “actual” robot, there’s no reason to add paint or anything.
Granted, the Twisted robots you see in promotional art I assume are suppose to be their illusion forms. Basically the real robots look plain like in the video but the illusion forms has the crew imagine the animatronics as monsters rather than seeing them as cartoon characters/furries.
I think what makes these versions so terrifying is their sorta.. Color pallete being a very much paler, almost Skin-like color. Another reason why they're much more terrifying is how hollow they look, with the original animatronics they looked like they were filled with machinery. With this? They feel.. empty, cold, waiting to grab you and put you inside. They don't feel like they're ment to entertain, just attack, collect, and Dispense.
Also the empty eye sockets, especially Freddy's. Not empty as in no eyes, but just... Emotionless. I get they're robots but something about these ones is different. Maybe it's the fact that we can't see their eyelids, or their eyes are just a little too small for their sockets. Whatever the reason, it's just creepy
The worst part is that it looks and sounds real. I think the scariest is Freddy due to how human-skull-like and droopy the eyes look. He looks like he's almost scared, but his eye sockets are too big for his eyeballs so he just has this constant skull-look to him. Amazing work, Nick
I haven't read the books but the way you brought these characters alive, while keeping them as this menacing thing, makes me want to read all of the twisted ones books
I recommend it! I read both comics and all three of the paperbacks! GIves Dave Miller (Aka VER IMPORTANT ANTAGONIST) and Henry Emily a whole new meaning !!
The little clicks of gears, the clacks of plastic and metal, and the whirring of motors. Entirely unneeded, but you took the time to add them anyways. Impressive!
In a way the sound discs basically adding the much needed detail to these animatronics is Brilliant. Nothing is going to look as good or compare to your own imagination and the concept of making a robot look life like, while ideal is also pretty impossible. So these twisted ones requiring your own brain to give them life is a deep metaphor for how fantasies cannot stack up against the bleakness of the reality. Freddy's Pizza even uses the catch phrase "A place where fun and fantasy comes to life." No kidding, lol.
This is honestly more terrifying than the actual 'twisted' look they're illusioned to be Because this version is very real in that world, and this version looks like something out of a nightmare
They might look scary, but they look weak and fightable with some type of weapon, the illusion makes it look way more strong and also fighting it would be a mistake.
@@defensivekobra3873 Perfectly possible. Think people have never faced nightmares before? Not possibel for "you" maybe. Just never let your guard down around them. Let fear cloud your sense and you're screwed. It's the strength of every enemy you face. Fear. Confront it (with a plan) and you can overcome it. This applies regardless of situation or threat. If your own fear leads to harming them when they might have been peaceful though... That's where it gets tricky. Imagine playing a FNAF game and it turns out YOU'RE the bad guy at the end. When emotions cloud your senses, use logic. To grounds to cover are "Situation. Threat. Counter. Action. Reaction. Result." Situation: Foxy is running at me. Threat: He'll hook me to death if he gets inside this room. Counter: Stop him getting into room. Action: Close door. Result: THUNK! Someone add a foxy imprint on the door when he hits it in the games. Loony toons style. Then add a ship, a plank and having the player walk along it when he's behind you. Ok, I was joking at first but this sounds awesome and I want to actually see the ship part in a game now. Aaaarg!
@Kien Ngo how was TSE out of place?? And don't tell me"Oh It didn't focus on fnaf enough" They needed to set up characters, I loved it I think TSE is the best one for sure
I think the Twisted Ones are the base prototype models for the Funtime animatronics’ feature to hold people inside of them, as these ones are less refined than the Funtime’s way of getting their capture secure in the designated area.
I adore this video so much As someone who loved the Twisted ones that in itself makes me want to like this video The style of the models is very threatening, this video in itself gave me the creeps. The small ticking and metallic noise gave an alluring feeling of something just waiting to happen. Like a ticking clock if you will The lighting is beautiful, now overly complex but very pleasant to the eye. Overall amazing models and on spot with the small details!
In the part of the Silver Eyes while Jason is on the stage with Foxy, it has that same thing - every time a flashlight beam passes over Foxy, there's a few mechanical clicks, as he prepares to attack. Despite that, he doesn't look like he moves at all during those sounds, making it even more unsettling of a description.
somehow the twisted ones descriptions make them scarier than their designs in the graphic novel also who else felt like they were staring into your soul?
@Jayden Thompson I thought that too, I remembered the original descriptions in the novel so I expected them to look like how they look and this video and I was kinda disappointed because it didn’t match the original description
@Jayden Thompson yeah I’m not really giving with them tbh but I’m still gonna read TFC cause it’s my favorite, but at least I know before hand it won’t live up to the original
I love the animation work here alongside the modeling. They capture a perfect sense of uncanniness that a lot of the mainline animatronics don't, and part of it is down to the fact that they have a distressing visual redundancy; They look like soulless facsimiles of things that are already soulless facsimiles. They look like and are described as if they're what happens when you take Freddy Fazbear's gang and strip away anything meant to be cute or nice, because they're designed around using an artificially-generated hallucination to make them seem more appealing. And without it, they're just these pale, hollow things that gawk mindlessly at things as they try to discern if it's a target or not.
This really gives the unnerving effect that the first game had. I was terrified throughout the video that there was going to be a jumpscare. Especially with Freddy looking into the camera like he does.
I like how this actually does them. It doesn’t make all the twisted animatronics look like Scott was on Crack when he made them, it doesn’t melt Bonnie and it doesn’t mold Chica’s cupcake against her face. It makes them Genuinely unnerving, which is, in my opinion, exactly how they should look.
The only thing I miss in this models is the springlocks they have inside, descirbed by charlie when she was trapped inside of freddy. But overall, those models ara amazing, and I love the attention to every detail you had, and how you followed the description perfectly
I have to admit I avoided modeling the springlocks, because that’s such a daunting mechanism. If I model that, I want to do it right. I want it to look like it would work. Knowing that it would suck up my time like a black hole, I think I just kind of glossed over it when modeling.
Genuinely, the music sets the mood of the entire video and the text placement is amazing. You nearly told a story itself in only nearly 2 minutes. You are a genius of your craft, and I wish to see you do something great with your passion.
I personally interpreted it just now that the "thick plastic material" is like sparse but large chunks covering the creature, and they would rest on top of the "gelaninous plastic" like a soft layer below patches of the once fully encased hard plastic. I would also guess the bent joints and crushed skull half were meant to be more extreme.
The description of the animatronics really made my skin crawl. Seeing the models is already pretty unsettling, but then being able to imagine all the other sensory details adds so much more These designs are also so much more horrific. Especially in the face. No eyelids and a dislocated jaw creating a crude and painful looking smile. Like they don’t want to smile, but they have no other choice. The human-like teeth on Freddy and Bonnie reflect your own, but somethings so… wrong about. There’s too many. Too far spaced and too equal in size.
It's been a while since I've seen animatronics, or any monstrous creature for that matter, that legitimately gave me chills. The canonical twisted animatronics can't even hold a candle to how uncanny and creepy these are. Something about the several rows of teeth, melting flesh(?), malignant boils, fused parts, and whatnot of the canon designs is just so... stale. It's overdone. This, however, is absolutely incredible in that it can instill so much more fear and dread in a viewer with so many fewer assets, being a breath of fresh air that the franchise needs. And of course, don't get me wrong, I love the way that animatronics are designed canonically is cool and all, it's just not creepy anymore. I noticed it when watching the trailer for the upcoming Security Breach; While yes, the game looks awesome, few things about it thus far have stricken me as 'creepy', and even the things that did pale in comparison to the primal unrest that these models cause in both myself, and as I'm sure many others who have been in the fandom for a long time. In sum, this uncanny feeling is what's missing in many of the game designs, and I genuinely would love to see developers take a leaf out of this creator's book for perhaps scarier-looking bots in the future. Phenomenal job, I can't reiterate that enough.
Thank you! The uncanny look was 100% my priority when making these, because it’s something that’s really hammered home in the book. I didn’t include any of those lines here, because they’re not proper detail descriptions, but there are several points where it talks about that visceral gut feeling of wrongness that one gets from looking at them. I tried my best to replicate that. And while I’m not the biggest fan of the direction Security Breach is taking, I do have to disagree that none of it is creepy. Some of the designs are fantastically uncomfortable. Glitchtrap and Vanny are the two most unsettling designs in FNaF for me, by far. Leagues above anything in the original series. And the Moondrop creature also really gets to me for some reason, I don’t know why. On the other hand though, I can’t stand the redesigns for Freddy and the gang, those just look ridiculous. It’s kind of a mixed bag.
@@TheNickofTime You do make an excellent point, I have to agree that Sun/Moondrop does have quite the uncanny look to it. I personally think that's because it, like both The Puppet and Ennard, and Music Man for that matter, looks more human-esque than the animatronics that were/are based on animals. The same runs for Glitchtrap and Vanny- although that's because they're people in suits. But yes, their motions are all too fluid compared to the usual, more mechanical movements in the 'main line' of animatronics. And that's what makes them quite creepy. it feels so out-of-place, in a perfect, fear-inducing way.
To be honest, FNAF SB is terrible. Most mechanics are janky, you can call Freddy when he's not able to reach you scene wise and the story progression is badly done. Textures aren't that great either, they're awfully low quality on some surfaces. The giant facility was a bad idea as well, you can tell that by the amount of STAFF guards they place, in order to fill up the gaps. It's also never explained why Freddy is friendly towards Gregory and what gregory actually is. Sorry about my bad grammar, but the game overall feels unfinished and stale. A missed opportunity .
Honestly, the animatronic designs like Nightmare, Music Man, the Withered animatronics, and especially Golden Freddy capture the uncanny feeling perfectly. If this series had more designs like those, then I think these games could start being legitimately scary again. I like this series, but nearly a decade of exposure has made things really stale. The only animatronic that still scared me, even when Sister Location was released, was FNAF 1 Golden Freddy, mainly due to how uniquely terrifying it still was to me at the time.
I know this is two years old, but based off the description of the "Gelatinous gel covering the crude metal frames giving it an organic appearance", in my head i always imagined it like the metal was encased in clear ballistic gel
Not going to lie, I think these might be my favourite set of animatronics from the whole series. The complete unsubtlety in being calculated murder machines makes them stand out so much when compared to the others which hide their natures behind the character costumes. Not even designed to look scary per say, just aggressively not designed to be appealing to look at.
Reading the books, I always thought of them as Funtimes with a rubber coating instead of chrome. But these, especially with the vertical stomach teeth, were really interesting. I'd love to see you twist and dig into the snippets of a description we get for animatronics. Maybe Julius' Exoskeleton or Baby Springtrap.
Well I Died In Atleast Two Spring lock Suits, Fred bear Which Was 1970-1973 Then Years Later, Spring Bonnie In 1989-2023 Then I Was Freed From The Two Spring Lock Suits After 1973 And 2023 Respectively
I like this. I like it far more than the current versions doing the rounds. This is... Believable. There isn't a fancy workshop required with advanced computer systems needed to program hyper intelligent AI, no... This, this possessed amalgam of metal and rubber... This is repulsive, fear inducing, and straight to the point. No unnecessary rows of teeth, no flashy bits and additional bobs, just frame, false flesh, and light bulbs.
I desperately wish these had a release, some of the most absolutely stunning FNaF book models I have EVER seen, keep up the absolutely breathtaking work man!
I know right! The fourth closet baby model forever has my heart but these are STUNNING, and if they released i’d be the first one to get them, if they were for SFM
Everything down to the models to the music to the video. So perfect for how you showcased them. The sfx are so on par, it's so simplistic but so amazing how you made it so spooky!
I don't know why but the animation and the design of these just make me come back and watch it over and over again. I want to thoroughly analyze each one to see if there's anything I may have missed XD
honestly stuff like this is why i fell in love with scotts creations. Its not about the characters or the personalities of the animatronics but the fact that the creator of the animatronics in the lore is a mechanical genius who not only had the ability to create a hidden trap within friendly looking machines, but straight up made menacing monsters that had no alternative motives behind the mask. The stark difference between a monster that hides its intentions and a monster that embodies it is crazy.
it would be so scary seeing this in a fnaf game. i honestly wasnt bery scared of security breach (i absolutely loved the game but watching mark play it, maybe only 3 times i was actually scared and the fear didnt last that long, anyways whatever) so seeing these guys in their own separate game (even if its just a fan game) would be incredible.
@@StoppedEmu67 watching someone play and playing yourself are two VERY different things. You HAVE to play a game in order to fully experience it. If you only watch people play you never get the intended experience and most of the time its impossible to scare someone who is just watching. (apart from lazy tension and even lazier jumpscares)
These models must’ve took so long each one looks stunning! I can’t wait to see the designing process!❤️❤️❤️ The way you presented each animatronic is so original and unique!
The design process was mostly just trying to capture the elusive image of these that I already had in my head from reading the book, and translate that into computer models. I modeled Freddy first, then modified the it as necessary for all the others. The last thing I did was all the cracks in the plastic and adding rust to the metal parts.
@@TheNickofTime Thanks for replying! Maybe it wasn't as long as i thought it was, sorry! ;-; Anyways, i love the way you make designs it's very admirable, so thank for all the work you do!
@Matthew Wong He's an imitation springlock - he can function fine when they're in any position, the springlocks are redundant and only exist to kill. Also, it looks like the Nightmare animatronics have very springlock-like endoskeletons - the thighs are tubelike, and it looks like the lower legs should be able to slide upward into them. Similar features are also visible on Springtrap's legs.
@@Famine_ No need to apologize! Make no mistake, it was still multiple months from start to finish, but I don't want to downplay the fact that I did take a few shortcuts. Thank you for showing interest. :) EDIT: looking at your username, I realize I might have just fallen for a shtick. Oops, but better safe than sorry.
These are so freaking creepy and residing deep down in the uncanny valley. I love it, and it’s a very faithful representation of the descriptions in the novel
i binged all your 3d animation videos and i am more than impressed. i am now very inspired to learn more about 3d animation and modeling, and even sound design!
That is so gratifying to learn, thank you for letting me know! Particularly the bit about sound design, that's an art that's very easy to overlook for how important it is. Bringing more sound designers into the world is always a good thing!
I don’t know why, but I feel these are the scariest renditions of the characters I’ve seen, the pale white and emptiness, helps to build an uncomfortable model to look at, I just wish these were in an actual game
I love that you included Freddy rolling his eyes into the back of his head when opening his chest cavity. A detail that really struck me in the books. The models look absolutely stunning Just remembered there is another video showcasing these models that I watched a while back; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TYDeAvvN5ac.html
if you go back a little there's a animation called Freddie's not real inside and out. its like this one but its only the inside of Freddy and it end with him rolling his eyes back to look at the camera. then in this video you see the person we were seeing the video through. really nice detail.
I've never read any of the books. But seeing you bringing these images that the words describe the characters, to life is so amazing. It matched JUST like the lines of the book and you nailed it man. Keep it up.
Definitely an uncanny valley sort of vibe, which I think is the point! They feel cold and robotic, while also being just a little too close to human. Uncomfortably close. They don’t look like they’re made to entertain children in the slightest. Perfect!
I like the soundtrack you made, gives pretty Sister Location vibes, though ironically with maybe a more...organic sound? Guess that fits the context. Very nice animation too.
This is great, is stays remarkably faithful to the books, removing the sharp teeth and claws, while still making wildly unsettling, unnatural and terrifying animatronics, these models perfectly capture the essence of the twisted animatronics, this is great, keep up the good work!
Personally, i think you nailed it amazingly. Freddy, Bonnie, Foxy and Wolf looked sick, and just by imaging what they would look like while having the illusion disk active in them. I already got the creeps sent down my back. I just kinda wished there was a twisted Chica too since she is technically cannon in way, although she doesn't show up in the books, there's merch and art of her by the same person who drew the twisted ones. OVER ALL ! great video
Dude! Oh my god this is so good. These gorgeous designs are so much better then the official ones. The eerie, slow, clunky movements really sold the look! Wonderful work my guy!
As someone with aphanstasia(no visual imagination), I gotta say having a example of their appearance like this makes me appreciate the story even more then I already did. This was so helpful without even being intended to be
I've absolutely loved these models when you first debuted them, and just seeing them move and be showcased like this is just perfection. You rarely ever see them untwisted, and even then those look the way these do. Specially with the embryonic coating. Spectacular work as always.
OH FREAK- thank you so much for this. The twisted animatronics are always represented kind of too much "alive" and i arrived at a point where i thought i couldn't read and understand their descriptions very well ;u;
Remember that they're described in two completely different ways, depending on whether the hallucinations are going on or not. These models are made based on quotes describing their 'real', or 'non-twisted' appearance.
I love the soulessness with these guys, you can tell William Afton himself made these. It gives that, they're not meant kid friendly vibe but aren't suppose to raise suspicion.
This is really awesome. The only thing I would say is that the chest piece might have been a bit different. These are basically supposed to be the Funtime animatronics from sister location. In that same vein though, they never fully described what they look like in the books (horror book tactics) so it's up to one's own interpretation.
I never thought of it as the Funtime set. In my eyes, the complex beneath the Emily household is where FNaF 2 would've taken place, or a replica of it, more accurately, given it's full of all sorts of stuff, and it never went into use beyond being Henry's hideaway for a while and a place to leave the animatronics he didn't want getting back out. The next book in the series, The Fourth Closet, has the Funtime animatronics in it - Circus Baby, possessed by Elizabeth Afton and all; Funtime (officially 'Blacktime', which is a work-of-William-Afton name if I ever heard it, he's quite uncreative there) Freddy, now with two hands and the same penchant for playing with his food; and Funtime Foxy, who proceeds to unfold into a hundred limbed spider because reasons I guess. So it always seemed these would be another set never really _seen_ in the games, but they do share a lot of similar designs to the games' Funtimes, what with the strange appearance, underground bunker storage (though not by their creator's intent this time), and intent to lure, capture, and harvest. A predecessor set, rather than the actual set.
I hope if they continue with free roam in the franchise they lean more towards horror and make the animatronic designs more unsettling kind of like the joy of creation free roam A design like this will be more than enough to reignite the horror aspect in this franchise ever since fnaf 4 the games have become less scary and more lore based.
Everything down to the models to the music to the video. So perfect for how you showcased them. The sfx are so on par, it's so simplistic but so amazing how you made it so spooky! I also really loved the chest opening and a person sliding out touch. Really makes me wanna make something similar to cosplay x3
