I remember Guy Cooper wearing UFO gear. Guy always had great style. I like the brand Xtreme as well. They were very colorful. My first jersey was an early 90s purple and white O'Neal. I wore it to school all the time.
I wore some of the crazy stuff back in the 90's, and I loved it. Pink with polka dots, lots of zebra stripe, everything neon. I still love to see crazy gear, but not on myself. I like the styling of companies like Fasthouse and FLY now. Been thinking of getting some vintage styled gear. You can still find stuff that looks like it was in the 70's. Yellow camel jerseys, Coors, Winston, etc. Might be rocking some of that soon. I think that Feroce gear was designed right near where I grew up, which is why Mike Jones was rocking some of it, he was a local guy to me.
I remember ordering Ocelot gear from Chaparral over the phone with my mom's credit card in 1994 I thought it was so cool I would wear it to school occasionally 🤣
I didn’t mind Wülf Sport. A couple of the Hüsaberg riders around here wore it. I preferred MSR Rage. It was cheaper than System 6, and actually came in my size.😂
I just saw that feroce gear for the first time in my life in your video. I loved some of it , searched eBay and actually found some of those spider pants in my size. Really enjoyed the video
was wondering if you plan on doing a video on the 85 rm's, still till this day never understood how the rm's went from great bikes to the worst i ever bought in 85, i mean a brand new rm250 in 1985 would not up shift at full throttle over half the time and it overheated non stop no matter the fix, the frame cracked the swingarm actually bent, footpegs snapped off etc. etc. etc.
I laughed many times throughout this episode but nearly peed myself with the kitten gear and it's absurdity! Agreed with every single choice. Fantastic job, Tony!
I’m curious to see how you feel about the 2018 Thor Pulse GeoTec gear, I personally have the black/white/teal version but I thought the red and blue was horrible
Tony Man! You missed a historical pivotal point in ugly gear with the mentality of sheep. Around 1990, as you know, Broc Glover won the "Millers Masters, (banned, to make room for CBD oil I guess), SX race in pink JT gear, and the pink craze was started, (including me as a victim of fads). The pink movement took off like wild fire, even bike parts. Trash your CR radiator shrouds, replace them with pink, (I am guilty). But there was a set of gear that stuck out too, (and would have been a lot cooler if it was not pink). Do you remember "Gear Racewear's" Pink and Black tiger striped pants? Yea, I got suckered into those too,---but because of the stretchy material, well thought out construction and good quality, they were the most comfortable pant I ever rode in. The pink phase lasted long enough for me to sell them after 2 seasons,---just in time. :) About then, Yamaha added a pink twist called Magenta. The Pink craze was a historical phase,-----------------------------------worth feeling embarrassed about. We should "Never Forget". :)
I never wore stuff as loud as these. But it never really mattered to me when I was actually riding if I was a bit loud. It really did not matter much at the track or in the trails, but if you walked into a private business/public place, (Like a gas station, restaurant/bar.) with your gear on, (no matter how tame), you had to know how cool you are to ride in the first place,---so you did not look like a clown. :)
Kitten gear, (last one). Hmmmm, somebody at Thor let their new art graduate girl friend, (or what ever), design some gear. There was no market research there. Just "Special Interests" I guess. :) I was wondering why France has not picked Marvin for the MXofN.
Tony I can't believe you forgot ocelot..... haha I'm not too sure if it was possibly the ugliest but it was certainly mundane and you didn't wanna show up to the track in it. Haha anyways great video you nailed all the usual suspects. 👍
I had yoko gear in the late 80's. I miss my YZ 250. Also had a bieffe helmet, for the same reason. I was cheap. The money was more important to go in my bike. Ya it was the 80's.
I absolutely love dressing up like a drag queen clown in my mx gear. I have always gotten the brightest and most colorful gear I could find. At least till I got old and then adjustable belts became necessary over color choice. LOL
Yes you nailed it, that looks all plain horrible and impossible to wear. The 93-96 era was colourfull, even the bikes had pink and purple colours, but some designs were over the top. Lately that desire for fluo stuff or hi vis as it is called now is comming back. Some times I get the feeling they make it with the tast of a 19 year old in mind. Not realizing that the mainstream dirtbikers age is 30-50. They should try to keep it more neutral. I allways look for not too flashey stuff.
Gear in the 70s was plain?! I thought that all of the factory riders gear looked cool. Team Honda looked the best in my opinion . I do however agree with your list. Hurl
@@TheMotocrossVault I know that it didnt make your list, i believed you said the 70's gear was plain. Not plain at all. That is my point, not your list.
i allmost have enough money saved up to buy one of your shirts LOL,,,,, im going to get that trx250r shirt its badass... all your shirts are kickass... i think you can make a killing selling your shirts if more people knew about them....more addvertising some how.
