A week in with nine and absolutely love this phone. Zero regrets. I'm a spec monster also but in all honesty, that actually is the part that got boring to me. Looking for the best specs but then the phone always looks the same and feels the same as the last one after a while. Z flip 5 though is a breath of fresh air. Made me actually like cell phones again.

The new cover screen makes a big difference. This is the biggest change from the flip 4 which I sold to get an s22 ultra and now s23 ultra. The new cover screen mitigates this devices weakness which is battery. The honeymoon phase ended real fast on the flip 4 which always had to be opened to use. However, the 5 I can really go the entire day without opening when adding the full app support through goodlock + multistar. I'm replacing the heavy s23 ultra (best phone to date) with the flip 5 and have 0 regrets.

I just traded in my Flip4 for the Flip5 and I love them both. I just wanted that bigger cover screen and now, really no need to open my phone most of the day. I can fit it in my pants pocket, dress pocket, jacket pocket, jogger pocket and in little and medium size purses. I'm not the one to carry my phone in my hand when it doesn't fit in my purse. It takes great pics and now, I can take great selfies without a selfie stick or tripod. As far as I'm concerned, this phone is 🔥! Thanks for the review though. 😄

I personally love the z flip 5 so far but I can say it would be even better with more ram, better cameras and a bigger battery. also faster charging

Personally, I absolutely LOVE the form factor of the phone, and specs. I do NOT like carrying a bigass phone myself, I have a tablet if i need a bigass screen.....Only issue imo is the price for the specs you pay for. If it sold for $150-200 less, i think more ppl would be willing to get it over something like the Motorola one. Thats really about it for me really.

Everything you said about it being basic is true that’s why I didn’t switch my iPhone 14 promax for it. I just got this phone for fun and I’ll switch back-and-forth when I need an actual big girl phone. But I did want to try the flip format. It just looks convenient and fun 😊

I see guy's talking about trading. This is more for having it as a second phone along with your s22 or 23 ultra.

Hey CJ, Apple here. I love the Z Flip 5 but I AM WITH YOU 💯%. I honesty want more under the $1,000 hood. Now, I do love the dex display, & the hinge is a great improvement but after all this time, we still have to worry about dust. The battery needs improvement, camera's yes (thanks for your tips) & definitely wider. If this phone would give me the mechanics of the s23 ultra, it would be a BEAST for sure. There are 2 things i dont like about this phone, how high up the volume buttons are and how noticable the crease is when you swipe over it

Hi, CJ, Thank you for another great video! You are definitely one of my go-to's for tech. As a girl techie, I watch and literally study a LOT of RU-vid content to get as much information about whatever device I plan to buy so I have a deep working knowledge before I even get my hands on the new device. I just upgraded from the Flip 4 and Watch 4 Classic to the Flip 5 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic a few days ago, and am pretty much set up. Of course, I will make a few tweeks and more customizations over the next couple of weeks, especially since the customization capabilities for the Flip 5 are virtually endless! I do have a question for you that I have tried to figure out, and have even asked other content creators, but haven't gottent any response with an answer. At approximately point 00:48 in your video, you showed how to record from the flex screen in 16:9 aspec ratio. Is that what I would use to record so that the video presents in landscape mode and fills up the screen in RU-vid videos? I'm not by any means a professional content creator. I have a full-time careerr, but am also a self-published author. As an author, I post content directly related to my book and book events. I record most of my videos using the Flip 4 and now the Flip 5, but they are always in vertical (portrait) mode. I've never been able to figure out how to record them for the best view for RU-vid. I hope I'm making sense, and I appreciate any suggestions you would be willing to share. I appreciate the quality content you produce and your in-depth reviews. Please don't stop because you provide a wealth of knowledge and information to people like me who love tech and want to get the most out of it!

The fact that the phone is water resistant, has wireless charging and can charge other devices definitely separates it from being a "basic" smartphone. Besides it not having the ultra cameras or dex there's not much to complain about with this device. The processor can still keep up with any of the heavy weights. Definitely a bias opinion on that one but it's ok 🤣

If Samsung would upgrade the cameras on the flip & have wireless dex & bigger battery I would get it that's why I got the galaxy s23+ cuz it's more stuff on the flagship phone

So about a week in with mine, coming from an S20 FE. So, with that in mind, the things I 'lost' were the zoom camera, DEX (I never used) and MST (but that was going to go away no matter what phone i moved to), but I gained a much better display (the S20 was terrible outside) and the faster processor. I really only got this because of the large discount for the trade-in, but overall it's been a good experience. I do find myself throwing it in my pocket unfolded a bunch, so I haven't gotten used to the flip mode yet. I think this phone is pretty handy for content creators on the go or folks who do a lot of selfies, which neither are me. Am I in love with this phone? Not really. Would I trade it in for a newer regular phone? Not really. I think this phone does everything most people need it to do, so unless you're chasing specs, it's just a slightly different form factor for a typical phone. I do agree about the screen ratio, but that's been an issue since samsung went away from 16:9 years ago (and everyone followed). Maybe they can find some use for the black bars, or i guess can just do some kind of split screen mode there to make use of it?

As a Z Fold 4 user, I got a Z Flip 5. in my opinion, Samsung made enough changes to draw new users, but not enough for people who are hard-core users. If Samsung continues this trend I will be upgrading every two or three years.

I am enjoying my Z Flip 5 so far. I think it just needs to be a little bit wider and they need to upgrade the cameras. I dont have anymore gripes besides that.

Great video...I swear that reverse engineered alien technology keeps on pumping out great devices...lol! Not really into the foldable devices just yet simply because of the durability factor as well as price. It'll be a few years before I decide to take the plunge

I heard people say in videos the hinge on the flip 5 is looser than the flip 4 the flip 4 hinge was much stronger

it's the person behind, or in this case in front of the lens, that really matters on making videos or photos happen. I've had mines for about a week coming from an Google Pixel 6 pro, and I thought I would miss a few features like the telephoto lens but you know what? I don't. Being able to use the rear camera on the daily is great and the flip also helped manage my on screen time alot more psychology. The biggest perk is it being compact, I was over giant ass phones.

Just bought the flip 5, then I just realised my right thumb finger print is so messed up, the sensor can't pick it up, so now I have to use index finger bruh.

I love mine! But I also agree with you. If trade in didn't put it at a great price point, I would've passed until they did a bit more improvement. I will say I utilize the cover so much that battery life is fine for me. I have small hands, so form factor is also fine. And I'm not detail picky about photos as long as they look good. And they do. But Z flip ultra should be a thing. Lol. If there was this and a z flip ultra... the ultra definitely would've got me. Love your reviews... you keep it real.

9:58 - 10:32 This is my feeling towards flip phones. Definitely appreciate that they exist and still think they're sick but for the long-term that just about sums it up.

The flip should of been 21/9 and s series after s21 just look ugly with the 19/5.6 I phone ratio I just like the 20/9 the s21 had at 6.2 inch now their more bigger black bars on 21/9 movies even xiaomi 13 and pro put the base and plus to shame with xiaomi 13 having equal bezels and pro having a qhd display that the plus is lacking
