It's not that bad...as long as you don't drive, don't turn on your heating, only bathe once a week, don't use social media, stay out of the town centres when it's busy in case you get arrested for walking by a protest, never make a joke about anything even remotely sensitive, spend the vast majority of your life working just to survive. I believe in human rights, democracy, liberty, rights to protests, but all of these protests are coming from people purely fighting on the emotional wave of online propaganda, and most times the "information" comes from the authoritarian governments these people claim to be fighting against. You completely glossed over public transport. If you think you can just get a train instead of driving everywhere, think again. A 2 hour train ride will coast you at least £100 and has a 50% chance of making it to your destination without getting cancelled. It’s genuinely cheaper to fly abroad than it is to travel within the country
And also a car will actually get you there WHEN you need to be there and not cause you to waste hours every day waiting around because they don't line up to your own schedule.

Every budget you hear they're giving hundreds of millions more to the health service, yet nurses can barely survive, junior doctors go on strike. Where's the money going? Large contracts were sold off to off shore companies with share holders so the money is not being used how it's supposed to. Left in 2017 and never looked back. There is no future for Brits in Britain without a serious revolution to not only oust the current establishment in it's entirety, but to also reverse all the damage it's done to our homeland over the last century. And I just don't see the average Brit having the capacity to do that. For extra context, there's literally nothing for me to even go back to. I grew up in a beautiful rural village in Devon, shire vibes even into the 2010's. As I grew up, I watched that village slowly whither and die, the couple cafe's close, the green grocer and butcher unable to compete with the Safeways megastore opening a couple miles outside the village. And when I last checked google maps, it's been half bulldozed to build 'cheap' apartment blocks on for invaders seeking to live near Paignton. The Shire has been scoured, and nothing will bring it back. It is a unique kind of hate I harbor for these successive governments in the UK during my life time. But most of all I hate them for that. Never was that close to my direct parents, but until they died, I had my grandparents. And when they passed I had those green and tranquil hills to look back to as the one remaining consistent anchor point to that gilded past. The traitors even desecrated the land itself to make a few more pieces of silver off of.
the UK has been functionally a one party state, with your preferred party in charge, for a 100 years. You did stand up for yourself, this is what you built. Yes it is bad, that is because you are stupid.
Mate of mine asked local council to fill a pothole on his road. 6 months later it was filled with gravel and the annual road tax went up by £40. On behalf of my mate, I apologise.
That's not how road tax is supposed to work, actually. The more fixing it needs, the higher the road tax cost should be, then once the road is fixed, the tax should go down to minimum as there won't be any need for that much money once they fully fix the roads... the increase makes absolutely no fking sense. It's obvious extortion.
Well your local council does not benefit from the road tax, in most cases it is the national government that collects it and keeps it… local roads are maintained through council tax… which is also the tax that is supposed to pay for everything that your local council does… 😅

Just my 2 cents on the car insurance scam situation, as a Canadian living in ex-commonwealth (same insurance situation: govt enforced, rising 8% in cost this year alone). The insurance situation is slightly worse than you're letting on. The insurance companies also use rising crime and car theft as justification for raising rates. Who can stop theft and rising crime? The govt and nobody else (from a legal perspective). And what are the police doing? We had a police commissioner order the public to leave their car keys by the door to ease theft and reduce potential harm when robbers take their car. In some cases, they recommended leaving the door unlocked at night. In another instance, a private citizen tracked down the stolen car and called the cops - they refused to come to help them remove it from a port shipping container. Pictures included in the article too! The police also failed to stop thieves from re-vinning the car after it was stolen, even though this requires updates to a system where the old VIN would have been logged as stolen. I could go on and on. We must not defend ourselves or else we will face jailtime. We must allow the criminals to take from us. We must pay our taxes while everything keeps getting worse. Its official. Our leaders have entirely lost their minds! This is a delusional period in time unlike anything ever seen in the west before. Half the people realize it and are trying to leave, but its really the other half that concern me: the mass of people in total denial about any problem whatsoever (lost friends that are like this) or alternatively who ENJOY this.

Theres a way around income tax lol. Just get ur employer to pay it into ur own company. Do the typical corporate expenses gunk and boom u now dodge all taxes above 20%
@@MegaGamer-w1uthat’s not how it works, not a lot of people will do that so nothing lost. Plus, how do you explain countries with very low tax rates doing better than us?
@MegaGamer-w1u the news LOL, theres your problem 🤦 if the huge corporations can do it why cant the working class, we live in a tax farm working infinite hours for sub par living now you go hand over most of your earnings like a good little slave
Exactly. We should stop taxing high earners and tax low earners more. That would motivate them to work harder and become high earners, while all the low earners would run away to France or Germany or somewhere like that. Leaving the UK a succesful nation filled with high earners. Common sense.
With regards to the car insurance: my friend is learning to drive and her mum recently got a new car. The car insurace for her mum went up by £4000 per year when trying to add her as a named driver so that she could learn in her mums car. Needless to say she now cannot use her mums car to learn.
Lol your city Plymouth is used an example of disgustingly ugly architecture. Realistically most UK cities have quite nice architecture which is why he pretty much just used pics of Plymouth
@@KtT-sn8cy It's probably because Plymouth is the only true coastal city here, the aesthetic is more based on barbican/hoe. You're invariably not going to be chilling outside Beckley Point for views, so its fine that closer to the sea is more built to be observed.
@@ihoundsmite it’s mainly because Plymouth got bombed to shit and they couldn’t be bothered to rebuild most of it to its former glory. And there’s plenty of coastal cities across the UK mate Though I will admit that the outer parts of Plymouth actually look nice, in most cities it is the opposite but the architecture of the inner city is worse in Plymouth
same here mate, sick oif the car insurance shit they all try to fuck u over anyways if itsn ot u fault its so piss poor man. I cant wait to move outa here lol, every party that gets in just total broken promises the country is a fucking shithole at this point.
You remember it? You were there? Also, just to point out, the USA gaining independence did absolutely nothing for the common American, it literally only benefited the rich. Stop listening to American propaganda and use your brain. You're so easy to manipulate as long as it involves patriotism.
@@woollard9260 Oh no they were not. King George the 3rd was very aggressive on taxes on the colonies to pay off debts from the Seven Year War prior. There was a controversial stamp act in which every single stamp on any kind of document had a 3 pence tax on it. Then there was the sugar act in which the colonies were forced to only buy overpriced sugar and molasses from the British. Then the Townshead Act in which glass, lead, tea, paper, and oil were all heavily taxed. The colonists were specially unhappy because we did not have any representatives in Parliament as all the taxes were being levied on us. Taxation without representation. (Sound familiar?) And this isn’t even factoring in colonists being forced to give quarter to British troops in their homes. All the taxes caused the colonists to boycott British goods, tar and feathering anyone loyal to the British, and other acts of protest like the Boston tea party in which gallons of tea was dumped off British ships into Boston Harbor by men dressed as Native Americans. As anti-British sentiment rose the protests started to get violent with rocks and oysters being thrown at British troops, and it got to the point that British troops opened fire on the protesters. The Boston Massacre was the tipping point that caused the colonies to go from protesting the taxes, to open rebellion. But I’m not gonna give a full history lesson in the comments on the American Revolution. You could just go watch Oversimplified video on that.
I'm from the US and didn't really know how bad the police state in the UK had gotten until I saw a video of a guy's house being broken into by some municipal worker cause he didn't pay his TV license..... and it was legal..... literally blew my mind. Like straight up how is this happening in a Western country. I understand this is cliche coming from an American but THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET THEM TAKE YOUR GUNS
Housing in the UK is so expensive that it just imprisons renters in a poverty trap they can never escape. As for Canada, I have relatives in Toronto.... which is even worse, largely due to insane woke governments inviting the whole world to live there.
I take my family to Florida every oct-nov for three weeks to do the theme park runs... Disney, Universal, Busch, Seaworld etc. We stay in a villa which has 4 bedrooms, swimming pool, 2 car driveway and garage. We toyed with the idea of buying one back in 2012 and our detached one was up for $180,000. The conversion rate was $1.60 to the pound, so the villa was around £112,500. That was roughly the same price as our terraced home in the UK with 3 bedrooms, no pool, no garage, no driveway and a footprint of around half the size... We didn't commit.. And now, I curse myself every day for my terrible decision.
You fucked up however: As a American I will say the housing costs in FL state have rose dramatically as more old fools go to Florida alongside the IT nerds from California and New York. Housing insurance + car insurance is the HIGHEST in the country. Good luck even getting insurance in the first place haha! No state income tax but all the other expenses will make up for that. Education and heal are workers are the lowest paid in the country so quality of those services also isn’t great.
@@tony_5156 I wouldn't say I 'fucked up' anything, I simply missed an opportunity. It was 14 years ago, no one could have predicted everything that's happened. Since then we bought a new house that is a much larger, semi detached property with off street parking. I'm happy and so is my family.
The house was bigger because there's 50k m^3 more land in florida than england with 1/3 of the people. Surprisingly, you can build bigger houses where there's more land.
@@Sarahpurple12 they call it Hegelian dialectics, create a problem, curate the response using their control over ALL major media publishers and social media platforms and then offer an entirely contrived "solution" which does not in fact make anything better
Because the guy who made this video complains when they ruin the countryside by building new houses, but also that house prices are too high. It's beggars belief the stupidity of the guy who made this video and many like him.
My dad visited the UK back in the 60s-70s and said that at that time it was, at least in his experience, an amazing country. Safe roads even at midnight, people watching TVs with volumes that were quiet enough to be barely heard by neighbours, efficient public transportation system where if a bus is full no one else is allowed onboard, people that would randomly engage in conversations or just say hi and be nice. Now it's the exact opposite, it's not the UK that my dad visited and knew, it's not a country he feels, and I feel, it's safe to visit.
Eh I wouldn't say it's the exact opposite. It depends where you go. If you visit somewhere like the Lake District the Peak District, Brighton, Cheshire, Kent, any number of places really you'll have a nice chill time. If you go to parts that are economically in a bad place you're gonna have a shit time (I grew up on one of the most deprived estates in the country so I can tell you from experience). Just like any other country. That's not to say everything is roses but it sure wasn't all sunshine and rainbows in the 70's either. Oh and just avoid London unless you want to do tourist shit. Go to somewhere like Manchester if you want to visit a city that has loads of cool shit to do without being packed into a sardine can (also has great free public transport).
@@Winter-CIG London is pretty bad compared to before, my dad specified he was there for 5 years from '65. As I also guessed elsewhere that isn't London it's probably better, any city that is lesser known will probably live in peaceful days. My dad was in Richmond and didn't stay in London so today I feel like I should do a similar thing to avoid what is the current situation. There's lots of trains so moving long distances shouldn't be an issue. Didn't know Manchester has great free PT, now it's going to be on the list. London will be just a fly-by for me.
@@riccardopetrina4212 London is like any capital city in the world... you're literally complaining about the most popular city in the country, of course it will have the highest crime rate, highest cost of living etc. It is no different to Paris, Sydney, LA, Tokyo, Madrid, Berlin.
I can aford cool cars but insurance companies wont insure me. I then see 18 year olds in the US driving M4's and shit and its like god damnn bro, I am going to have to wait like 10 years for that in the uk.
Every country in the west is atleast a little cooked. The UK is particularly cooked regarding immigration, probably the worst system in the entire west. It literally encourages criminals to come and exploit the system as well as unskilled immigration to take up low wage jobs creating a whole new poverty class which is both a burden for them and the general citizens of the uk
It's interesting as an American to hear him talk about how British culture treats personal exceptionalism with contempt. I always thought Americas problems where with how insanely narcissistic and self-absorbed we are even towards other Americans, how everyone else is a side character in MY story. But then when you break everything down it looks very similar, makes you wonder what's going on.
The UK just like the US has one huge underlying problem that makes all of this possible, namely the 2 party system. Due to how much the voting system in both countries benefits the 2 biggest parties, they basically have a duopol on governence. In countries where apart from the 2 or sometimes 3 big parties taking above 20% of the vote you have some other parties between 5 and 20%, those smaller parties could use any of that problems to push their agenda, meaning that the bigger parties have a huge incentive to not do unpopular things, since due to the smaller parties being only slightly smaller than they are, the bigger partiy's possition can be easilly and succesfully challenged, which is something that the 2 party system makes basically impossible.
