Such an amazing building system for an early acces. I spent about the 5-6 first hours to do barely nothing rather than awake the smith and then building and rebuilding my first base. With those tips of yours i might be spending the next couple hours just building again lol

I did that as well. I build an entire village - each of the NPCs as well as my character have their own house. I also built a warehouse and a town hall. Adds a nice touch to the base when it is not just one huge structure but gives that settlement village feeling.

They really did a phenomenal job with the build system and the overall atmosphere. They can obviously improve some aspects during EA but it is a very good start!

Started up Enshrouded yesterday, just had time to make a simple house and meet up with a friendly companion. Seeing this I really want to go home from work and start building! Seems like there is loads of possibilites when it comes to building and I love it. Thanks for the tips!

If you want flowerbed ground you can get it from the farm west of the first spire. go up to the chirch yard. it is the grassy ground with flowers. not all ground is dirt :) mix that with the cool buildings :)

depends on what you are going for, if you want a more historical accurate build that any European commoner would have lived, the simpler structure is the way to go, as a laymen wouldn't afford the time or funds to be decorative in more than a small trinkets. Ultimately it is up to you what kind style you want to go for, and what materials you want to use to achieve that style.

You can get Flintstone also at the destroyed brigde. There are tents on the right side and behind them is a hill with flintstone. Honey you shouldn´t eat early on, since its used in the big Healing potions recipe. Gather honey as soon as possible and stash it away. Another tip: its not building releated but if you later need salt. You can find that on the right side of the Starter Miasma. Easy to glide to right from base spot.

Thanks for sharing all the tips with everyone! Yeah there is the flint mine across the bridge and also an area a bit west up the hill. Honey is pretty easy to get out in the world. I've actually located my next home around 6 honey that I can easily get and just generally pick it up every time I wander around the world.

I placed a mycelium block and I instantly hated it. I placed a bone block next to it and then it felt like it fit. So I made a gazebo for the alchemist out of those. Thanks to your tips I can now refine my buildings, I really had no idea that you could "shave off" bits like you did. Much appreciated.

@@pseudoposse I began using it for a basement/crypt. I plan on growing shrooms in there, its below the gazebo for the farmer. I did a bit of a gradient in the wall by using that single block trick you showed in the video. Time consuming but I am happy the way its starting to look.

The 1m section has a sloped shape which will let you add/remove roof parts much in the same was as the cube for regular walls and floors. Y key will undo the last few build actions, really useful when fiddling with details or trying to get a roof sitting right

Yeah I use "Y" a lot but it only holds the most recent 5 actions. I used the 1 block sloped roof in our most recent video. It definitely is quite useful.

My favorite part about this building system is how easy it is to replace stuff, if you decide later to go with a different shape or a different material. Great video, thanks for sharing

This game has a lot to offer right off the bat. I know certain players like to "achieve" a home base before venturing out into this vast world. The build you offer is a great example for a starter build that leaves a player open for their creativity. When I started I only used two types of material blocks but I see here within probably the first hour you had SIX. Keep up the awesome work.

Man this game looks so good, has so many great ideas to make building better and then they only let you build boxes. Not even a 45° angle to snap or triangles to make up for it. If they manage to get it done like in Ark or Valheim I wouldn't have a life anymore

another good tip is that you can reduce the quality of the game to see the specific blocks you're building into etc, helps a lot imo

That visual connection at the peak of the roof is called a Ridge Cap, in case that's a helpful term for future videos. Also nice tips, I definitely learned some stuff

Enshrouded: Where to find metal scraps Enshrouded metal scraps are typically found: Inside the Cinder Vault where you started. As drops from humanoid scavenger enemies. In scavenger camps on tables or near crafting benches.

I don't understand how to did the alter thing. How do you raise and lower foundations? Where did the massive 4x4 pit go that the alter creates?

If you take snap off (press x) you can aim up to make the foundation higher. Then connect your new altar to that foundation. The pit is created when the 4x4 foundation is removed but filled in with new foundation pieces :) Of course you can always fill it in with dirt as well!

when placing the stepped walls does it not annoy you that they pertrude the roof? ive been trying to place them so that it doesnt happen but i cant get it right ...

Yeah, either there is a small gap between the wall and the roof, or you have that protrusion. I usually choose the former option as the gap isn't so bad. Basically shift the stepped wall over 1 block away from the sloped roof.

Since you can fast travel, you can always return back to it :) Though I do plan to build in multiple locations to mix it up

Why not use the preassembled roof ridge pieces the game provides you with? They are right there in your hotbar.. They are much easier to use than trying to fumble two sides into meeting at the correct hight.

Roofs are a bit finnicky but if you get on top and place the roofs from up above or on the outside, it is much easier :)

It gets a lot easier with some practice. And I've found it can be easier by elevating yourself and placing the roof pieces downward.

Nothing immediately. If you log off after removing the altar, everything will be gone. Also if enough game days pass, I believe it will also reset.

I wish I could play this but the but with the building scroll wheel still isn't fixed after the hotfix. Skips from 2x2 to roof and back.

that was fixed in todays patch, had something to do with running the game over 60fps causing it to skip

You should start a series like Grian from Minecraft did where he does several builds based on the different byomes to use as templates so that us players can try them as reference and alter to our leisure!

HOW do you delete an altar? Got two altars too close together.. any advice.. please.. thanks.

Go to the altar, and click on "Extinguish Flame". A red "Extinguish Flame" button will appear, click that and a 30 second timer will start. During the 30 seconds, you have the choice to cancel the action. Once the timer is up, the altar is removed.

Unfortunately you don't get it back. Luckily, shroud cores are craftable so losing a single one isn't so bad. A higher level altar would definitely be more painful to replace. Which is why I'd get it into the exact position right at the start.

One axe swing at a time! Once you get a scrap axe, it definitely speeds up the process. From the start of the game, you can replace the stone one pretty quick.

I appreciate everything you said but must disagree on the scaffolding. It's easier to use it rather than temporary shapes as you can just pick it up and put it down where needed. I understand this is debatable.

Subsequently in our most recent video, I did discover some value with the scaffolds. I still make liberal use of temporary platforms but I've found a use case for scaffolds I like.

there should be 2 types of slope available, at least I spotted it last time I was in game, never did use tho.

I don't think there currently is different slopes. Still progressing through the game so not sure if more is added later on. Would be a great future addition though.

@@pseudoposse you are correct, it was me who looked at it wrong, I assumed the 2M roof piece meant that the piece was 4x4 with height of 2m
