It has been an eventful past few months, but we are back with the question of the year… which carbon of 2022 is the best? We do a head to head comparison of the PSE carbon Levitate and the Hoyt RX 7 ultra both at 80 pounds! Watch and let us know what you think! What do you want to know about our opinions of the two?

As someone who places key value on speed (seeing it is half the equation for momentum, p = mv) I have found much respect for 80lb bows the ability to shoot heavier arrows at greater velocities with consistency. The Levitate is just an exceptional bow, that for weighing so little, holds extremely well on target, with little hand shock or noise at the shot. Good content and a great bow in the Levitate!

Thanks for watching! We are both super impressed with the Levitate, it is an amazing bow!

No nonsense review. It seemed like the draw cycle was a little more aggressive with the PSE Levitate.. one of these two bows will be the replacement for my RX4 Turbo. I went from a PSE Full Throttle to the Hoyt and might go back to PSE.

Thank you for watching! Both bows are great we have found that over time the draw characteristics after a while don’t make much difference. At 80 lbs the Hoyt is easier to handle.

@@brosbeforebowshunting That's why I'm considering an 80# RX7 to replace my 70# RX4Turbo. Should be a bit faster with a better draw cycle than the Z1S at 70#, but like you said I'm sure you get acclimated to it.

The levitate keeps any hunting arrow at slightly higher than maximum preferred velocity for fixed blades. AWESOME!!! The archery equivalent of watching carbon fiber exotic supercars.... drag racing.

Thanks for watching Bill! The levitate has definitely introduced us to a different type of problems to deal with… stay tuned!

I like your videos but I’d like more feedback on your opinion of the bows. Which holds better for you? Which shoots better for you? Which is your go to? How did they tune etc etc. keep it up and thanks for posting.

We had some of the things that you mentioned in some of the original footage, we had to shorten it quite a bit. In terms of tuning, the RX7 is easier to tune for a couple of reasons. 1 simplicity, the shim system is easier to work with due to the position of the axel and the size of the actual shim. You might not have as much adjustment with less variations of shims, but you have what you need. 2 with the performance of the levitate, it was a bit more difficult to find a “forgiving” arrow spine to tune. We both found that we needed to either drastically reduce point weight or move to a 200 spine arrow for it to work. In all honesty we haven’t decided which is a better bow yet and which will be the go to for this September. Time will tell, Stay tuned thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for watching! I actually used both of the bows last year! I took the levitate on my Utah hunt and the RX7 Ultra on my Colorado hunt. It was awesome to pack a light bow in elk woods. We are undecided for this year. We have some bows to check out still so stay tuned in!

I'm thinking about the rx7 80 pounder not the ultra but the rx7 I think running 475-525 arrows 28" draw

Hey Stephen, thanks for watching! That sounds like it would definitely be a killer setup! Should be able to take just about any type of game with that combo. Good luck in the woods this season!

Can you do a review on the new Bowtech SX80? I'm in love with it, and not a single youtube video on it so far lol

@brosbeforebowshunting Год назад
Hey Danny thanks for watching! We have been trying to get our hands on one since we heard Bowtech was making it. By the specs this bow is exactly what we both look for in a bow! We might have to do a bit of dealing and searching to get our hands on one but you can bet when we do we will definitely share our thoughts! Stay tuned!

Just get a apa I'm 100+ lbs and stop messing around. I shot them all, and my apa @ 106lbs is just as smooth at my 80lbers its nuts

How do they both cycle? 80lbs is not a stretch anymore considering how smooth the new bows draw. I shoot a 505 grain arrow or a 480 in a 300 spine and its over spined for my 70lb bows but it could still work with 80lb bow limbs. Just curious if they cycle better than the ventum build you had with 80lb limbs? Similar etc? Look forward to more content!
@brosbeforebowshunting
@brosbeforebowshunting Год назад
Hey Travis, thanks for watching! You are definitely correct! Today’s compounds are definitely much smoother. When it comes to arrow spine at 80# there are some differences. Depending on the cams and the power stroke of the bow you could probably get away with a 300 spine with some of them. The ventum 33 at 80# is by far the smoothest we have ever had. It seems to have been engendered specifically for that weight. The RX7 ultra is very similar but seems to be a bit stiffer on the draw. Great question/comment! Stay tuned we have more to come!

It depends on your arrow length and point weight. I shoot an 80 pound rx7 and I have a 235 spine Victory in a 28.5 inch arrow but I have a 150 grain heads and the stock 50 grain Victory insert

80 lbs bows you realize a 60 lbs bow will kill anything in North American with todays bows 80 lbs is not needed and people watch this and try shooting 80 and blow there shoulder I am a bow technician and I don’t recommend anybody to shoot 80 my opinion
@richstafford1245

I can sit in a ground blind in sun zero temperature and draw any bow made. I have come to the conclusion that just because I can doesn’t make it a good idea.
@brosbeforebowshunting
@brosbeforebowshunting Год назад
Thanks for watching, we have said it before, 80# is not for everyone. Shoot what you feel is best for you and how you hunt. Good luck in the woods!
@timbow50
@timbow50 2 года назад
Of coarse not being young and strong so much anymore I realized after shooting compounds for years and years there are two aspects that I particularly look for- how smooth the draw and it’s hold on target- stability. Speed isn’t a big factor but the ability to have ABSOLUTE control of the bow. A smooth draw WITHOUT A BIG DUMP that throws everything out the window is no good. Pulling 80 lbs isn’t important really with ability to make great arrows for killing. You should NOT feel like your pulling your guts out during ANY part of the draw cycle. IMO
@brosbeforebowshunting
@brosbeforebowshunting 2 года назад
Thank you for watching and the comment! We totally agree with you on both aspects! I have a feeling on which bow fits that bill, we will see what Josh decides to carry into the woods this season. Stay tuned!
