Is this the best and the ultimate acoustic pedal??? Do you need anything else ??? Hope you like it... For more info click here - goo.gl/nLSVde Thank you for watching and please subscribe.
Super demonstration of this great pedal, Pete. I agree with bear, an album will be welcome, you have a lot of talent. Your intro is huge. Your name sounds the honors, in French : Mr Honoré. Again !!!!!
Peter is such an amazing player amazingly putting an obviously amazing unit through its paces! Wow! Love it! Thanks for walking us through all the various settings and twiddling with the effects. One thing the unit would benefit from, in my humble opinion, would be a tone control for the shimmer. Compared with the shimmer, for example, on a Neunaber reverb pedal you only get a one-trick pony (too high-frequency for more taste) on the T-Rex. But otherwise the unit blows me away, also in terms of obvious ease of use. Love the sunken knobs on the back! (Too many manufacturers forget this, inviting disaster to strike when a false twist of a gain knob happens, as it invariably does between practice room and stage, or even while fiddling around on stage.) Love the built-in looper, which - although lacking in a dedicated volume control - seems to do a good job of easing backing tracks into the background as new ones come in. It didn't end up sounding excessively crowded or soupy even with tons of overdubs. Or perhaps that effect is only due to sound degradation. ;-) But either way, I can live with a non-volume-controllable looper for the convenience of having it right there, even if only for thumping in a basic beat before taking off. Compared to the also-new Trace Elliot Transit-A, the T-Rex leaves it lying in the dust tonally - both in terms of the dry signal and (especially) the effects. And having an adjustable compressor is a huge plus! (The Transit-A has a small amount of built-in, automatic compression dependent on the gain knob.) Too bad the T-Rex is so huge. But your stellar video convinced me to give it a spin.
Hey, Pete! Thanks for keeping this channel active. Any chance you could do a lesson on some jazzy tips/licks? Would be helpful for a rock/blues player such as myself survive in a university jazz setting.
I was just about to purchase a Boss AD 10 and this popped up. Thanks DP! This thing sounds awesome. (Of course the guitar work isn't that shabby either lol)always a treat to watch and listen. Lots of passion. Great job!!!
Same for me, although I like the AD10 dual input capability. And the looper buttons on the Soulmate are in a questionable location. I'd be concerned with hitting the boost switch.
Someone 'disliked' this video, LOL! Maybe they thought they were going to see a 'real' T-Rex or perhaps searching for a real 'soulmate'? Anyways, very 'professional' and fun review and demo. I play 12 string exclusively and can't wait to use this on my gigs. Thank you for sharing this.
Just picked this up, I have used it in a few shows and got to say it delivers great effects in one simple package. I started using DI's and other effects and with wires and adapters and it was a mess and I got about maybe half of what this offfers. I got close to building a board, but this is even so much better and cleaner than that route. The Looper and Tuner work great and then the Comp, Mod, Delay, Reverb, Boost and EQ take this over the top. The construction is top notch and solid with hand wiring. Perfect for the Touring or weekend Acoustic Performer. Nice Job Danish Pete!
Does it still hold up? I was just looking at getting an lr baggs session di and a few pedals with some parametric eq into a katana head with a toneX on the side for electric option flexibility. 😅 a bit spendy 😬.
I would do this all over, but it has worked well since owning and just presents a clean one unit design with everything you need without the weight and bulkiness of a board I added colored buttons on my looper to gain some height but no other changes
Danish Pete! I just bought one of these for my son and I'm so excited. "For him" (Yeah, right!) Please make more videos like this. The world needs more Danish Pete to set things right.
@@dezscott46 he loves it. It's a really versatile rig and allows a lot of adjustment to his sound. Requires a bit of fiddling, but it's the fun kind of fiddling. The EQ, compression, and gain adjustments are always on, and he adds the other effects as needed. Since he's 16, he doesn't play by the "rules" and he ends up with interesting results. It's worth a try, even if it's a bit more expensive than other options. T-Rex gear is well built and seems to hold value better than some other options.
I bought one of these and in most respects, very pleased with it. I use a K&K pure mini pickup and it's a good match for that system. Two things I found 1) the tuner doesn't pick up my guitar very well, particularly not recognising the B string 2) the EQ is very subtle, great for tuning a good sound but doesn't make massive changes and it would be good to be able to bring out a bit more top end brightness on my guitar.
Clifton Painter how charming. The impedance is matched to the pickup and it works well in all other respects. I was just trying to be helpful to anyone else considering this set up. Have a nice day.
since these are "clean tone" effects I am wondering how good they sound with an electric plugged in? I use a quilter amp for acoustic and electric. could this one effect unit cover both?
Hey Pete, Great review - Great sounding pedal - on the modulation section of your demo - when you adjust the 'rate' on the modulation - I am convinced I am hearing a 'clic' at 23:35 / 36 where you show the 'detune' - or is it my imagination??
Hey Pete, what would be the best way to add a couple Strymon pedals into the signal chain? I have a Bigsky and Dig that I would like to have integrated. There isn’t an FX loop. Thanks for a great demo of this!
Hey Pete. Love your video's. Just ordered this today from Andertons - exactly what I need. Hoping to use it with an Acoustasonic Strat before too long!
Awesome demo, hoping you can provide your thoughts on the Hotone Ampero Multi-Effects pedal specifically with acoustic and for electric guitars if you have time..lol. Also, how it compares with this T-Rex for acoustic guitar. Much appreciated!!
Hi Peter, What´s your exact set up after the T-Rex. Your xlr, did they go directly to your amp? You are talking about your ipad. What are you doing with? Thanks.. Nice video!!
Hello! I really like this pedal and I'm considering buying it actually.. I am an acoustic player but I wanted to ask you! Do you know if there is a chance to use this with an electric guitar as well? I mean if I want to connect an overdrive and a phaser pedal to this, can I use all of these effects simultaneously for my electric rig without receiving any unpleasant noise or something? Thank you very much!
This is a really fantastic pedal. Just wondering if you could get the same tones with a chain of more affordable pedals, like the TC Electronic Flourescence, Vibra Clone, etc? There’s your challenge!
Just bought it and cant wait to have it delivered. Nice review, it helped me. Just dont like the shimmer too much i think you have to go reaaaaly slow on that or everything will sound extremely artificial.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Attention all reviewers of gear! THIS is a review! Minimal yapping, excellent guitar work and spending a few seconds with each feature so we can actually hear what's going on. Watch and learn. I bought this unit BECAUSE of this review, and couldn't be happier. I spent the money because I knew what I was getting, thanks to Peter's effort here. Hey Peter, jsyk, the two-knob EQ controls are parametric EQs, lol! Basically a USEFUL EQ so you can dial out offending frequencies... Another reason I bypassed things like the Trace Elliot Transit A. ANYHOO, thanks for this great review and inspiring playing!
Absolutely completely totally. I wrote a LONG review which is mostly everything I tried prior and what I didn't like and why the AS is so great: www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1NJLGHEBWQE67/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B074PTYND2
@@JPDC624 I just read your review! Its amazing how you explain to the details. Thank you for that. I will consider to buy T-Rex. I own Fishman ToneDEQ, and I wanted to buy LR Baggs Align Session. Also, I own BodyRez. But now, it seems its better to sell ToneDEQ, not to buy Session, than buy T-Rex. How you satisfied after couple years, do you still use it?
This pedal was anounced some years ago, but never produced because t-rex needed a russian chip; which could not be delivered as wanted. Nice to see that it finally is availible in my country. Tomorrow my soulmate will arrive xD
Peter Honoré Hi Pete, love what you do so well buddy. I also love this unit it’s the nearest Acoustic pedal board to perfect almost but I do think your mates at T-Rex have missed a trick. The only other thing they should have done is added 9v phantom power to eliminate the need for the battery in the guitar. It can be done Yamaha did this years ago with the Yamaha AG stomp. And in live performance you aren’t trusting a battery that could let you down on stage. Have a word with your buddies at T-Rex and perhaps who knows it may be on the Soulmate Acoustic mk2 And it makes this this almost perfect board absolutely PERFECT for me and I’m positive many others too. What’s your view on it?
Hey Pete. I bought this a few months ago after your recommendation and I love it! What volume / expression pedal would you recommend to go with it? (You mention an MXR one but I can't find this online.) Thanks!
Wow Pete, this looks like a great answer to all those assorted acoustic gigs. Also great for practising at home I would imagine. Lovely guitar too!! Nice work chum.
Pete, long time watcher here. I just got an acoustic again after years of not having one. I have always been hesitant to plug acoustics into an amp because piezo pickups, in my opinion, sound too lackluster. Is this units EQ section good at sparking up a piezo pickups sound?
Great pedal!Wouldn't have it on the floor, though, with the amount of tweaking during a live gig.I'm thinking I'd have it on music stand near my strumming hand. Now i hope i can get it in Australia.
"Double knob turning thing" now THAT'S the kind of geeky techno jargon I can understand plus a Pete-style demo. What's not to love ... and why is my wallet quivering in the corner??? (no idea of the most affordable price although a common suggestion is £520+) What I really like about this box is that most of the demonstrated effects don't go into wildly useless regions and modulation is often very tricky to control anyway once you move beyond the subtle ranges.
Looks like there is no firmware to upgrade on this. Also, no USB out to a DAW, so an interface would be needed. Very nice demo, and I love to listen to your playing Pete!
Pete establishes himself beautifully as an all round musician on the guitar. It is a breath of fresh air as too many presentations focus on blues and rock ( sadly, Andertons included ) which is killing the diversity of music. Pete forges a wide path away from that.
I searched for an awesome effects processor. After my research, and watching this video, as well as others, over and over, I decided this was the acoustic pedal for me. I have NOT been disappointed.
Im selling my tuner polytune2, delay dd500 and looper ditto x4 to get this one perfect unit. I am still thinking of going to BOSS ad10 or T elliot..but so far towards trex. btw I play Dowina guitar too
great pedal, too bad there is no tremolo. So I would think from guitar, go to tremolo pedal, then to this pedal, then to an amp, so I can add it to looper track
But it doesn’t add resonance stolen by the Piezo pickup, so, it still sounds brutal because of this little ( huge) flaw! There are better systems on the market!!! Ex. Boss!
About "Handbuilt in Denmark" I'm really dissapointed. I just receive The Soulmate Acoustic and there is a nice sticker on the unit, that says "Made in China". And on the package also "Designed and developed by T-Rex Engineering, Denmark. Assembled in China". I'm a bit pissed off about this and feel cheated by T-Rex... 599,-€ for the marketing "Handbuilt in Denmark" and it was built in China.... Good idea, to make more profit. :(
Hi Michael, thanks for the answer. But what does this means? The sticker was done on the unit, but it was built in Denmark? If all units were handbuilt in Denmark, why didn't you put another sticker on the unit? That would be an easy change and would help prevent misunderstandings.
Hand built in Denmark 🙄 ahemmm... and I should pay more for the privilege of that... even with the "made in China" sticker ... come on guys - who ya kidding. I've made my mind I'm gonna save 250 and wait a few weeks for the Boss Ad 10 - I'll have a few extra features like the ability to plug 2 instruments in and to play them at same time if desired...
"Double knob turning knob thingy." (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RtAT6FuD_K0.html) That's called a concentric potentiometer (pot) or concentric knob.
