I downloaded your spreadsheet and converted it to Excel. I added a column for static pitch speed and enabled filtering for all of the columns. Multiplying the motor's KV by 11.1 volts gives a no-load rpm of 24975. I use the nominal pack voltage because I do my calculations for the end of the flight. I like to multiply the no-load rpm by 80% to get the loaded rpm which in this case gives 19980 rpm. My lower limit would be 75% which is 18731 rpm and my upper limit of 85% would be 21229 rpm. I then filtered the spreadsheet down to static rpm's between 18731 and 21229, static amps between 20 and 25 amps, and static pitch speeds between 55 and 65 mph. Only one prop met all of those conditions, the E-flite UMX Draco prop. It turned 20455 rpm (81.9% of no-load) and had a pitch speed of 63.9 mph. It also produces good thrust; however, I use watts/lb to determine performance, not thrust. And, I believe it sounds the best. I'm not fond of the color though.

Nice work Shane! As a result of your testing, I ended up ordering 20 of the MA 6x3.2x3 blade props for the guys in my local RC club. About 11 of them have converted their AeroScouts to the 6x3.2x3 so far, and at least half a dozen more AeroScout owners haven't picked them up yet. So far everyone who has switched over to the 6.3.2x3 prop have preferred it over the stock prop, and nobody is willing to go back to the stock prop after flying the 6x3.2x3 prop. Huge thank you for running these prop tests!

Glad to hear it. Will be good to finish up the flight testing portion of this to tie it all together and complete the data set. Then on the the other planes!

Dave, What is your thoughts on the difference in prop noise of the 6x3.2x3 prop vs the stock prop? For example, is the three blade prop 30% less noise, or 50%, or 60% less? Thanks a bunch for your insight. Larry

@@larryhawkes1347 I'm 70 years old, and don't hear all that well anymore, so my opinion should be taken with that in mind. To me the main difference in the sound of the stock 2 blade prop vs. the MA 6x3.2x3 blade prop is the frequency of the blade noise, and not necessarily the volume.

@larryhawkes1347 6 месяцев назад
@@davemcddd Thanks Dave, so I assume that you feel the frequency of the 3 blade prop is less annoying than the stock 2 blade prop.

@@larryhawkes1347 I don't really consider the 3 blade noise to be any more or less annoying than the 2 blade noise. It's just different.

I just want to say thanks for doing this. I was thinking about changing the prop on my aeroscout and you doing. This is helping me to figure out what I want to do to mine as well

Excellent Video and Data. currently, I'm sticking with the 6x3.2x3 blade... lots of Power compared to the stock one.!

Thanks for the video. I have been looking for one that is the quietest without going over on the amps.

That micro Draco prop is definitely the quietest so far in a static test. I haven't flown with it yet. With this and the previous videos you can compare the sound of each.

Here's the link to the correct prop. bit.ly/495r736 I think you purchased the CW version and it's the CCW version you need. The correct part number is MA.3M06x32NB1 The N is for "Normal" and your R is "Reverse". The markings always face the front of the airplane. Looking at the prop from the front of the airplane the prop turns counter-clockwise, that is why you need to select the CCW version. I'm happy you are enjoying and getting something from the videos, makes it all worth while!

To take out any variables you should affix your test platform( the plane) hanging from the tail. Gravity is your constant, not the horizontal movement on the ground. You may be surprised over the previous results. Good vids though.

I have the original aeroscout. Will that Master Airscrew 6x3.2 still be ok on the older motor/esc ?
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy 6 месяцев назад
Yes. Amperage is nearly the same with the 6x3.2 vs stock prop.
@RCDave64
@RCDave64 6 месяцев назад
@shanesdiy and the ccw one linked is the right one?
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy 6 месяцев назад
Yes. CW vs CCW depends on the prop but in this case the 6x3.2 needs to be the CCW model in my link.
