Who makes the ultimate ribs? Is it a nationwide UK fast food restaurant chain Frankie & Benny's or is it a UK nationwide restaurant chain TGI Fridays. In this video I compare versions from both places to see who's best.

I don't think i'd go for either of them my friend... Ribs have to be the biggest rip off when buying any meat product... Strip away all the waste from the ribs... Like bone cartilage and sinew... And the amount of meat you're actually left with... Is probably less than the weight of the waste that was left over from the ribs... For less than the cost of those ribs... I could've bought a large Gammon Steak where the entire thing was edible... And with no waste whatsoever... Just pure meat.👌

The problem with chain restaurants is that there's no passion for food. Every decision is made in a boardroom rather than by a chef in the kitchen. Look at the independent chippy's you go to, they're always nearly perfect. I know where I'd rather spend my hard earned cash. Thanks for another cracking vid.

Most people in chain restaurant kitchens don't want to be there, just see it as a way to earn money. The food is usually microwaved and pre prepared....there definitely isn't the enthusiasm of a chef in an independent restaurant

Both restaurants lost, they just poured BBQ sauce on top after cooking the ribs.

the half rack were not cooking in the sauce but had it just squeezed on at the end. the 600g of ribs from Aldi £4.69. 2 large Corn cob £1.39 1kg of skin on chips £1.49. BBQ sauce 85p (460g). Total £8.42 (for full amounts listed). For the added Coleslaw 50p in Asda. £21 for Frankie and £26.55 TGI. So I do not see any of them being value for money they are not really worth half the amount. May as well just get a steak. more meat and less bones. and pay less money... I got a 400g steak from Asda for £3.50 so my dinner will be far better for a huge cost saving these places are just far too expensive and no wonder there was not a rush at dinner time to get in.

There's a BBQ Chain called 'Hickory's Smokehouse'. Maybe worth checking out, if this is a BBQ style theme. One in Wakefield if that's nearby.

Happy Sunday from rainy Los Angeles! 🙋‍♀️ Oh dear 🤦‍♀️. As an American, both meals looked dreadful! F&B's ribs looked especially bad. Sauce should be either a thin brushing at the end of cooking with more on the side or "naked" with all sauce on the side. Real American bbq is cooked with a dry rub and sauce on the side. You want to see both the bark and the smoke ring. Been awhile since I was up in your area. But from what I recall, you had 1 decent bbq place and 1 semi-decent place to sooth my American cravings: Red's True BBQ over on Cloth Hall is first choice with True Brisket on Dib Lane being 2nd choice. Today, neither meal gets my vote. If served in a little foil tray, both could pass as "airline bbq meals".🤣

The portions at both those branches are too small. I went that TGI before Christmas and I thought they had given me a starter portion. TGI used to be good but now its overpriced and portions too small. I experienced similar to you at the TGI on Wellington Street, went in, ordered food and those that came after got their food before me.

Usually end up starving after watching your videos but neither of those appealed. F&B looked like it had just been thrown on the plate while the unseasoned corn and the dressing-free coleslaw at TGIF ruined my weekend. Great video though!!

£21 for F&B looked expensive to me at first. Not corn on the cob but half a cob. Then onto TGI. The price feck. Plus lukewarm ribs and crap slaw. No seasoning on the half corn on the cob. Corn on the cob isn’t expensive so what’s the deal with this? I’m going with you on this. F&B for me. Great comparison. 👍

At 1st I was a little underwhelmed with the look of the Frankie & Benny's Ribs, but the Pork looked perfectly cooked with just the right amount of BBQ sauce. I'm with you on corn on the cob & this is my favourite way of having sweetcorn. The presentation looked nice on TGI Friday's meal, the ribs were cooked nicely. Although not the main part of the meal the coleslaw should have had mayo added when you said the meal could have been hotter, let this down for me so Frankie & Benny's win this!! Our Frankie n Benny’s in Ely and Cambridge didn’t survive, and closed Down. I did notice, the Food was Basic looking, with lots of space between the food. Xx

Both meals are overpriced and the F & B presentation was very poor, looked really cheap. The TGI presentation looked better with the fries separate but the plain corn and the pathetic chopped vegetables was not good. But my main gripe with both of them is that the ribs looked bland because the sauce was obviously added afterwards, just looks so amateurish ! I’ve tried many ribs from different places but, believe it or not, my favourite( and one of the cheapest) is actually from Harvester at many different locations !!

On any scale, restaurant ribs are con job. More bone than meat, even if they're real [six hours in a smoker], not parboiled junk like you're eating.

I could have made both those meals at home in 40 minutes, for less than £6 pounds with a few extras, not £48. Full rack of ribs at Aldi less than £5. plus a few spuds and veg.

The only thing that stops me going to TGIF. In my experience it has some of the worst service I have encountered in a chain restaurant right across any branch to the extent I will not step in one again.

The first one looks pretty poor. A rack of ribs (not marinated or any preparation) with sauce chucked on it .... U could do this yourself......

Fridays!...better presentation. oh sauce..just really nice :( Both corns neck and neck at delicious. Ribs fantastic...i need some sort of taste scale at this point. Both meals were massively over priced imo. Nice review but i wonder if you taste buds are facked 😁

Based on presentation neither meal looked appetising to me. Meager portions to for the prices. They aren't bbq ribs either. Just cooked ribs and they slap on bbq on top. I've not been to either restaurant and after seeing your review I wouldn't try either. Awful chain restaurant food.
