There's a whole other dimension to the young girl and older sister sidequest that I'm sad was left out, since it's arguably the most interesting part, though it's a bit contentious. Big (and I mean BIG) analysis incoming, so be warned. If you kill the giant pig that eats the young girl (which is the only way to find out it did that), you get her (now bloody) ribbon from its body as a drop. If you return to the girl's window during the final stage of the game in which everyone goes crazy (don't worry about it), you'll hear another girl from inside claiming to be her sister, who asks if you've seen her younger sibling, noting that she wears a big white ribbon as a way to identify her. At this point, if you've obtained the bloodied ribbon, you can give it to the older sister in order to communicate that the girl died. The sister is unsurprisingly devastated but says that at least this way she'll have a way to remember her by. The thing is, once you walk away, just enough to be out of view, the older sister will start talking to herself, but not regarding anything to do with her family; instead, she's simply musing about just how great the ribbon is, and how it belongs to _her_ now. All the sadness in her voice seems to disappear, and by the end she even sounds giddy, almost euphoric as she's thinking of putting it on. Afterwards, she ignores your presence entirely and continues to admire the ribbon out loud even if you're staring directly at the window. Finally, once you come back later, she'll have fallen to her death on a drop near the window, where you can pilfer the now cleaned white ribbon... Oh, and what do the ribbons actually *do?* Why, you give them to your little messengers, of course! So they can look pretty when you leave funny messages for other players. :3 ...Okay, so comically macabre game mechanics aside, now that I've pointed out the sister's weird behavior, with how she seemingly forgets her sibling died altogether, a number of inconsistencies become apparent with the young girl's story. You see, the girl explains that her mother left in a hurry, attempting to find the father who had been absent for quite some time, and we can assume that this was to help keep him lucid while he's afflicted by the beast plague. Now, what's odd about all of this is the context for why she tells us that, which is for us to find her mom and give her the music box that keeps the dad sane... But I mean, that _does_ makes sense, right? After all, she explicitly states how she's scared and completely alone, and... Wait, that definitely can't be right. Later, if you do find her mom, and reveal that she's dead, the girl will once again claim that she's alone, and as a result, will eventually wander off and find her way to the pig by herself, but... why? According to the older sister, she left the girl in charge of the house after leaving for unexplained reasons, but what sense does that make? If the girl was supposed to look after the house by herself, then her parents must have already been absent at that point, so how does her sister leaving fit into all of this? The little girl never mentions her sister in any of her dialogue, but if the older sister already left to look for her parents, then isn't that vital information? From the way the girl speaks, she's been alone for a while, so she should be similarly worried about her sister returning as well, and, furthermore, if you DID find the mom, the sister would be completely unaware of that fact, and would therefore keep searching fruitlessly throughout Yharnam, meaning you would have to find the both of them anyway, yet that never comes up. That's not where it ends though, and I posit that the older sister could NOT have been looking for the parents at any point. The reason being that when you initially find the girl, she immediately entrusts their family's precious music box for us to deliver, which she does simply because you're another hunter. Now so far, that checks out, she seems pretty innocent and has become fairly desperate from waiting, so if someone's willing and capable, that motivation makes sense; except, why would she give us the music box and not her sister? It couldn't be because the two of them forgot about it, since she calls her mom silly for ever forgetting something so important, which would be very strange if both her sister _and herself_ did the same. Moreover, the sister that she lives with would presumably be more trustworthy than a stranger, and she couldn't possibly have just expected that someone would randomly show up and deliver the music box for her, so there would be no reason _not_ to hand it to the sister when she left. Oh, and as for the hunter's greater expertise in combat? It actually might not make as much of a difference as you may think, as in another piece of the girl's dialogue, after a while of not having found her mom, she considers the possibility, and seriously asks the player, if maybe her parents are stuck out there waiting for her, and that it's on *her* to find her way to them, which is really sad, but also tells us that if she's willing to shift the responsibility onto herself despite being a small child (and over her veteran hunter of a dad), then there's no reason she wouldn't entrust the music box to her sister who literally _left anyway._ Oh, and of course, the sister never acknowledges the parents a single time. Never seems to consider that the girl and the parents might be together or anything. Pretty sus if you ask me. Alright, so the sister being out there searching doesn't make sense, which is particularly weird, as she specifically tells us she left the girl on her own, but, even so, doesn't the possibility still remain that she simply left for some other, unrelated reason? If she's not involved, then maybe the girl wouldn't feel the need to mention her, as she would come back on her own, regardless of whatever we do. However... There are issues with that as well. Firstly, why would the girl insist that she's all alone if she knew her sister would come back independently of her parents? And why would she leave the house so quickly after learning of her mother's death? Her older sister apparently told her to stay, and so would obviously expect her to still be there once she returned, so wouldn't the girl at least wait so that she could share the bad news? Actually, that isn't the only time she seems to completely ignore the presence of her sister in her life, as there's another path through this sidequest. As I said before, she leaves on her own if you reveal that her mother died, and ends up eaten by the pig that way, but it isn't the only way. If you _don't_ let her know about her mom's death, she'll wonder if there isn't something she can do instead of waiting, and at this point you can tell her about a certain safe place you find after brutally killing her dad, and in response, she decides to head there and says she loves you almost as much as mom and dad, before amending her statement by adding "granddad" to the list. Of course, the pig kills her on the way regardless... Now, as you can probably expect at this point, this brings even more problems. Or, if you didn't expect that, then yes, I'm still not done. To start with, there's the old issue of "why didn't she fucking wait for her sister to get home" but remixed into being even more egregious; if she's going to leave to stay somewhere else safer, why would she go on her own? Not only would it be safer to travel together, but she would presumably want her sister to come with, right? Meaning her sister would later have to travel anyway, so why not just go together? In fact, unless the girl left a note explaining her departure, her older sister would be completely clueless as to what's going on, as she obviously wouldn't be able to give an explanation in person. Okay, so maybe she did leave a note? WRONG! We know she didn't because later her sister has literally no idea where she could've gone and decides to defer to a total stranger for information, implying this little girl decided to randomly ditch her older sister and _not_ share that there's this safe haven where they're more likely to find their parents, and she does this as opposed to... literally just waiting longer. Why????? And now... The final piece of evidence: the granddad line. After mentioning her parents, she remembers to add her supposed grandfather to the list of people she loves. Quite conspicuously, she forgets to name her sister as one of them, in favor of this mysterious granddad character. Now, the thing with this guy, is that it's unclear if he's just someone who's completely unknown to us yet is _still_ more relevant than the sister, or if he's her dad's old hunter friend, Henryk, who isn't actually related to them but may still be an important family friend. Regardless, the point is that FromSoftware either decided to have the girl remember someone who has no presence in the story whatsoever, or someone who isn't actually a relative, in favor of her sister who apparently still lives with her. There's no way she would _forget_ about someone like that, meaning she deliberately chose _not_ to include her sister as someone she loves... or, alternatively, her "sister" is lying. (Part 2 in reply. Yes, I'm serious.)
Hold on, I think RU-vid is deleting the continuation... Let's try this again. Both options are possible to different extents, however, they are surely not living together at present. Maybe you could make the argument that the two simply resent each other, but if you'll recall, the young girl states that she's (all) alone two separate times, so that can't be all there is to it. Perhaps the older sister is an estranged family member, and there could definitely be some interesting interpretations drawn from that conclusion, but, seeing as this "sister" person faked caring about the girl, and seemingly lied about telling her to stay home, then anything she told us could theoretically be a lie, it's just a matter of why... And that's where her creepy hidden dialogue comes in. During the final act, most people become mad at the advent of the blood moon, so it can be difficult to discern the precise motivation of various characters, and indeed, it can quite easily be said that the only reason the older sister is so dismissive of her sibling's death is due to her deteriorating state of mind, which could happen in a number of ways, like, say, maybe a personality flaw of hers such as vanity took hold of her in the face of her circumstances. That she was affected is absolutely the case, but the specifics are unclear. However, seeing as this sister is seemingly non existent in the eyes of the girl, I will say that they are not, in fact, sisters, despite what the credits show. Clearly, the "older sister" was only concerned about the ribbon, and by the way she kept mentioning it as a defining characteristic of the girl, I do think this was also the case at the very beginning of the interaction, and that that's why she lied about telling the girl to look after the house. Since she's inside the house when we talk to her, this implies she forcibly broke into it JUST to steal this little girl's ribbon, and I imagine the ribbon is the only way she even knows her. Afterwards, she feigns sadness at learning we took the ribbon off the girl's dead body and her first instinct is to wash it and wear it herself. Honestly, I'm not sure what the exact implications of that are supposed to be, other than showing how petty, cruel and or "beastly" humans can be when their innermost nature is forcibly brought out by the blood moon's arrival, that something like a presumed simple jealously could turn into something this awful (after all, what would she have done if the girl was still home...?). Frankly, I think that hits harder if they really are sisters, but I'm just not convinced of it. In the end, I'm unsure about the circumstances of her death, though I see a few alternatives. The simplest one is that showing her down the stairs is a way to tell us she lives elsewhere, and that she died on the way back home. After all, if she actually lived with the girl, it would make far more sense for her to stay inside, right? And indeed, there is a door across from her body, where an older women (who also goes crazy) lives, and someone pointed out that there's what looks to be a bow on the door? So that could be a hint. In this case, she either fell accidentally, or, you know, the big ass enemy directly at the bottom of the ladder uh, acknowledged her. As for other options though? Maybe in the end, she succumbs to guilt after all, especially if she IS a sister. Perhaps her fixation on the ribbon was a way to deny the reality in front of her, and maybe after wearing it, she couldn't help but see what she'd become, and so, she dove off on purpose. Alternatively, with how uncaring she was of the girl, yet how ecstatic she was at the ribbon's presence, that could indicate she was in some sort of excited daze when she left the house, and just... fell by accident. Not only dismissive of the girl's feelings and well being, but also her surroundings. I mean, if she really did try to steal a ribbon in the middle of the apocalypse, then she can't be very concerned with the world around her. Okay! So that's er, "it". Hopefully, if anyone took the time to read the whole thing, then I was able to make a good case for the so-called older sister most likely not being related to the girl at all. And, alright, the credits do very literally label herself as "older sister", so I know this is something of an uphill battle, but I'd say they likely just didn't want to give away the twist like that, unlike with the Iosefkas who are even more apparent, what with them having completely different voices, you being able to find True!Iosefka's experimented-on body, as well as the entrance through which the impostor broke into the clinic (which even gives insight). tl;dr: these girls are NOT related aint no way in hellllll
small correction the its implied the older sister lies to you instead is a thief who is tring to steal something here from the wiki The Older Sister addresses herself as older sister of Young Girl and daughter of Gascoigne and Viola, and that she went outside and told her younger sister to look after the house. However, upon interacting with her, she does not mention their father and mother, nor why would she go outside on a night of the hunt. She keeps focusing on the white ribbon that her supposed younger sister wears. When given the ribbon, she starts to laugh maniacally, as if it was the ribbon that she cares about rather than her "little sister" and "parents" well being, as soon as the player leaves the vicinity of the house she is in. The Young Girl never mentioned her before. When she asked the Hunter to look for her mother, she did not ever mention having a sister. And when the Young Girl was told to seek shelter either in Oedon Chapel or Iosefka's Clinic, she told the Hunter that she loved him/her as much as her father, mother, and grand dad. Again, she did not mention having another family member. The Older Sister, in fact, might just be a neighbor who lives nearby. After the Blood Moon rose, she crept into Father Gascoigne's house when there was no one else around to look for the white ribbon. When the Hunter interacts with her, she pretends she is the Young Girl’s older sister to trick the Hunter into giving her the ribbon.

Old Gregg is from a really bizarre but really funny British comedy series from the early 2000’s called The Mighty Boosh. You should check that series out (stoned, if you partake), it’s funny as fuck and criminally underrated. I’d compare it to those weird Adult Swim series, but like, the better ones. Old Gregg only shows up in one episode, so you won’t have to put up with him much. Great music throughout the series, too. I watched it while it was still on the air, so seeing Old Gregg become a meme much later was a trip because the show wasn’t popular AT ALL outside of the UK and maybe New Zealand/Australia.
It's not quite pronounced "ee-oh-sef-ka," though it is somewhat close. It's closer to "Yho-sef-ka," think of like how J is pronounced in Spanish. Iosefka is a variation on the name Joseph, btw.
