I like Origo shoes but why should these type of shoes always look casual and sporty? Please designers, create shoes that are healthy, comfortable but also look smart and elegant and even chic! I grew up in Italy in the 70s and shoes had a larger toebox than those in the UK where I now live. It's always a struggle to find beautiful, elegant, smart shoes that don't restrict my toes, yet this shouldn't be the case, it's just a gap that I hope more designers will fill as personally I don't like to wear trainer-type shoes, I am not keen on the sporty look.
I did an experiment where I put spaces on both feet but only massaged one foot. I could wear my spacers for longer on the massaged foot. The non-massaged foot was in pain due to wearing the spacers.
it is amazing and very usefull video for our health. Very sad that the fashion industry does not respect the human body nature and design cloths and shoes that only damage our health. i recently purchased my first barefoot pair of shoes and the feeling is really extraordinary.
Maybe you should show this video to the ones in fashion industry and they might care? Just because someone has no clue and is totally dis-attached from nature, doesn't mean they disrespect...? They don't have to know everything. Same goes for all people.
Based on what I’ve observed, shoes with a wide toe box will help with that. I’d also look at the feet as a system that can get out of alignment. The exercises he suggested for one side of the foot are likely good for the whole foot.
Origo? Ok. But why do these healthy shoes companies only make sneakers? And ugly ones at that? What about shoes to wear to the office? With a suit? What does it help to have healthy shoes to wear during after hours/sporting, and then be forced to wear unhealthy shoes at all other times? Work, parties, etc? One spends the most part of the day at work. Most people do, so I cannot understand that these companies only make healthy shoes for after hours and your free time at home or doing sport. That makes no sense at all. Especially for women. No woman is going to go to her office job/having to deal with clients, in those ugly shoes. Flat, ok, and great for feet health and bunions, but so ugly? And not stylish/elegant at all? Nope, not getting those
there is the problem... shoes have "evolved" into a fashion accessory. The real purpose of shoes was to protect our feet. Until find a way to merge "functional" shoes with what people will feel are "stylish" it will be hard to move people towards "functional" shoes. You said it yourself "Nope, I'm not getting those" There are other brands of shoes out there other than Origo. But, in the mind set of what we see as stylish, most will find all of these shoes ugly. I suggest you AT LEAST counter the many hours you are wearing narrow box shoes with barefoot time some of it with toe spacers and also do toe/ foot exercises. Remember that every time you take a step 1 foot holds you full bodyweight... keeping them strong and mobile has been a neglected part of many exercise regimes.
Been using this advice for not quite 3 months. It has reduced my bunions significantly, & improved my foot and ankle mobility. The shoe company that works best for me in the US is Lems. Highly suggest trying them on as they can run short in length for a given shoe size.
1:00 dammm bro that baby feet soooo cute 🥰😍🤩😘 soo much cutipie baby kuchi kuchi baby, small that the cameraman or woman's hand fits both the kuchi kuchi baby's feet.
At any time, any age. The body is very intelligent and regenerates itself and heals itself, it only needs clear direction and precise task at hand. Thats your job 👌💯💯 good luck 🙏✨️
This is so helpful! Thank you. I was going to order size 8 Origo shoes but, because of my bunions, the feet are too wide. This has been a problem for me for years and all my shoes stretch out at the bunions. I could use sandals for the summer, but closed shoes and runners are a major problem.
The main problem is not the bunions but the person's foot or feet are abducted - walking like a duck with either or both feet walking to the outside instead of walking forward or standing pointed forward. Correcting the abduction eliminates the bunion(s).
Love the content! I’d love to see a similar video for exercises for a Tailor’s bunion (pinky toe). Big toe always gets all the attention! #pinkytoesmatter
Barefoot Strength I'm liking your videos a LOT, and I just ordered a couple of pairs of shoes from companies you recommended. I already have one pair of barefoot shoes, and I'm using them more and more for daily wear and my daily walk. In this video, you recommend toe socks and you close by saying you'll include a link to a recommendation. I have a couple of pair of toe socks, but my pinky toe doesn't really fit well - too much extra material bunching up. But I only see links for toe spacers. Am I missing something? Thanks!
I’m an Altra girl no doubt. But feel I should take the SLOW GRADUAL shift to vivos. I tried vibrams 2 years ago and went too hard too fast the got hurt and was turned off to barefoot shoes. Gotta transition slow and steady this time 😊
I think one of the only reasons I'm able to fully bend my toes back is because of an Aikido class I took in college (10 yrs ago). It hurt like heck the first 8 times I did it, but i stretch my toes like that a couple times a day now and it helps sooo much !!
Excellent explanation of the importance of foot strength. Delivered with so much examples and great strategies to improve our foot strength. Excellent job as always.
❤I agree 200% have been watching various videos on foot strengthening exercises as well as posture correction, scoliosis exercise but his videos are yet the best possible with visual and verbal explanations looking to fallowing him to help me with the excruciating suffering resulting from largely year of non functional - destructive conventional medical care 😢😢
I watched a great video that showed that if your foot does not fit on the insole of your shoe if your toes spray over it then you're wearing too narrow shoes.
My problem with most barefoot shoes is that my feet are not shaped like his. My 2nd and 3rd toes are longer than or as long as my big toe. I love my Birkenstock sandals but have to breakdown the front lip slightly to accommodate those toes. I have the same problem with toe socks. The toe sleeves aren't long enough for those toes.
I am thankful for your content. Almost everyone has a bunion in my family and I was made to believe it was a genetic issue. I am 33 and I always wore tight shoes as I have narrow feet. I really thought the narrower, the better even if it made my feet hurt. But I recognize my feet in a lot of issues mentioned in the video : not a lot of toe flexion, tight muscles, fallen arch... No doctor ever mentioned anything else than wearing personalised insoles that never solved anything. So I just ordered my first pair of barefoot shoes and toe spacers and will create a routine of exercises. THANK YOU!
Narrow shoes are not the cause of bunions, or everyone that wore them would have them. I have 1 bunion (I already fixed the other) and never wear narrow shoes, hate them.
Well delivered, super comprehensible! Thanks a million!! It means a lot to have hope again when pain wears you down all day long. Keep up the good work and the mission.
So in the part at 2:03 with releasing that tight muscle, you're massaging the top of the foot. Is that diagram showing the muscles a top view or bottom?
Firstly, Wonderful video as always! You consistently share such invaluable information that goes a long way in helping us regain quality of life and health. I’ve been suffering from plantar fasciitis for roughly three years now (in both feet), terribly fallen arches, severe top of the foot pain in my right foot, a developing bunion in my right great toe and have recently developed what research is suggesting to be bunionettes on my pinky toes. I’ve noticed I have completely lost the ability to spread them to the side and when I try to do my toe spreading exercises daily, they seem to be adhered to my fourth toe and I can’t isolate movement in them anymore. Already this is having a huge negative impact on my feet pain and balance to name a few things. I already go fully barefoot around my home and am trying to save up for barefoot shoes as due to my weight issues, I haven’t been able to use the current Altras I have (my weight shifts my feet out to the side and my feet slide around in the shoes which makes it literally impossible to walk properly). My past Doctor told me my feet are very wide due to having been heavy my entire life and that I can’t expect them to ever function properly and to expect things to get worse and worse as the years go on. I refuse to accept this quality of life death sentence if you will and am working on losing unhealthy weight and trying to work on healing my feet as I know this will go a long way in improving my overall health. All this to ask (please forgive the comment length) is it possible for you to make a video on bunionettes (or sometimes incorrectly referred to as tailor’s bunions)? It’s an area I am still very ignorant in and would so appreciate your expertise! Thanks so much! Keep up the excellent work and spreading of truth!
Alle Ärzte sagen, dass es nicht alleine heilt. Aber die youtube wissen es besser. Wenn es nach den youtubern geht, wächst man allein durch Willenskraft hahaha😂
Thank you for the video! What about tailor's bunion (digitus quintus varus) where it is the little toe that's the issue, is it the exactly the same approaches and exercises or are there any differences?
understand from many videos that all your suggestion are correct... wearing heavy duty socks in the house started my bunion issue . . . wear only thin ones now and gonna order toe socks. can also practice the spreading of toes exercise + ordering toe spacers. TU most sincerely . . .
I see no actual bunions on any feet in this video. Any shoe wide enough to give toe space is still not wide enough to accommodate the bunion on my right foot. All shoes, even roomy slippers, are chafing it.
This is great content. Thank you so much. I have a question though. Until five years ago I had a tendancy towards a bunion but never had any pain or gave it any thought. I then dropped a plate on the toe joint and it turned into a full-on bunion. I then started using barefoot shoes and toe separaters and for five years it didn't get worse. It was fine. And then last week, opening the boot of my car, a heavy plastic box fell onto my bunion. And now it is painful and has got bigger. I absolutely loved this video and will start doing some of the exercises you mention. But does it make sense to you that my bunion should get worse after dropping something on it. Is this a form of arthritis? Which I don't have anywhere else in my body, though I might have if I didn't eat a clean diet. Thank you again for the video. I will be buying some of your packages.
I am so grateful for you & your information on bunions! You are so spot on!! I have viewed some of your previous videos...purchased toe spacers (definitely helping especially in shoes), ordering toe socks (which I wore yrs. ago) Long story short, I am now working w/a trainer. No surprise here as my issues are: weak Glutes, tight ankles, weak feet muscles! And yes, running made it worse. I can now hike and walk w/the spacers. I will postpone running a little longer. Taichi is no longer painful in stocking feet (w/spacers) which I feel are getting stronger. I didn't realize how weak my feet were until I had to come up on the ball of one foot transfer weight with a turn to the other foot. Very challenging, if not impossible sometimes. It has been 3 months and I am just now able to to do these movements, a lot better. My next step is to buy these types of shoes and get rid of my orthotics (even though I now have less aggressive ones). I will also be adding those exercises that you suggested as well! Thanks for all you do continue to do for people like me! 🤗
