I think it would be really really interesting to see a “mystery box” style battle, so you give the boys ingredients and see what they come up with (without a recipe...)

With a burger, less can be more. The best bread you can get, the best meat you can get, and simple toppings. These are all very creative, but a bit over the top. They might be great sandwiches, but not necessarily great burgers.

I was just thinking of how you could make Jamie’s work better from a practicality standpoint. It seems really difficult to eat, and that’s a lot of bread. I also think that there is an opportunity to actually be a real burger in terms of a lack of patties. I was thinking that you could do two quite thin beef patties and one equally thin Italian sausage patty. Then thin slices of mozzarella on each. Between each piece of meat, you put a bit of ragu without any meat in it, a bit of béchamel, and some grated or shaved Parmesan. Then some basil on top if you like. You still would do garlic bread buns. Anybody have any thoughts?

Wait, Barry is the only one that made a proper burger for a burger battle! I'm sure that the others tasted lovely, but they were not proper burgers! One was hand held lasagna, and the other was a chicken sandwich!

So Mike made a chicken sandwich instead of a burger. Jamie made something between a lasagna sandwich and a sloppy joe. So the only guy who followed the brief was Barry. What bizzare times we live in.
