Been going to Carowinds since it was a Paramount park. The Afterburn (Top Gun) and the Nighthawk (Star Trek Borg) were my favorites. Nighthawk is a true sentimental favorite.
As a thrill seeker, Vortex isn't my favorite, BUT if you have someone who is scared but open to riding coasters, it's great to help build them up to the best rides. (I also hate nighthawk i feel like im going to fall off my seat, no thank you, but my husband LOVES it) Also, thank you! I got a family trip coming soon. It's been years since I've been, and it's nice to get a catch-up on the what to knows. I love this plan of attack, but i gotta do a build-up for one of my nephews cause hes a little nervous & diabetic so we are being a little cautious on build up.
Stayed at Camp Wilderness twice. Great option for a group of six. 7 to 8 bring an air mattress because the futon isn’t comfortable. A benefit I love is CW has shuttles so you don’t have to drive into the park.
Prepare get their 45 minutes before they open get fast lane expect the worst it’s Memorial Day weekend and their is the firework show last year we could not even get off the highway just prepare…….
I’ve been to Hershey park many six flags parks and most united parks. Never been to a cedar fair park. Hoping to check that off my list soon. Being in New England cedar fair not really here. Carolwinds looks like an awesome park
I've been to Carowinds 3 times in my life so far and so far every visit has been worth the drive from Canada! Great coasters, NIce atmosphere, decent waterpark (although I will admit I have been to better waterparks), etc! Next time I visit Carowinds I intend to check out the Scarowinds event!
We were just there a couple weeks ago. Fury 325 is incredible and my favorite😮 B&M. It took us 3 hrs to get there from Greenville due to traffic. Getting there late impacted our trip for sure. Nighthawk was closed. We were very upset about that since we live in Upstate NY. We won’t get back there anytime soon. Cedar Fair policy for kids with disabilities is disappointing. Six Flags does it right. Hershey park is a close second. I travel a lot with my daughter to go on coasters and it was not a great day. Kings dominion and Kings island were better experiences. Great video!
Thanks for the guide. So useful! I visited the park today for the first time. Fury 325 is now my 2nd favorite coaster - Steel Vengeance is better. lol There were many coasters with maybe a 1 train wait. Staying at a hotel you mentioned right now. I'm going to hit the park tomorrow for an encore before heading back to Ohio. Side note: I could have sworn I saw you on Copperhead Strike. I did a triple take. lol
I went for the first time during Halloweekends last year, and I was pretty disappointed in their operations. I actually decided to completely avoid Fury after encountering the rudest employee I have ever met at a theme park. This is coming from someone who travels all kinds of places and wants to treat others with kindness and respect. I did however immensely love Afterburn and Copperhead Strike. This night was beyond super busy though, and hearing that they removed a racing wooden coaster a few years back has to be one of the worst decisions I have ever seen in the industry. My home parks are KI and Cedar Point and as far as hills I will die on goes, nothing beats being able to marathon Gemini and Racer when the park is super packed and everyone else is waiting over an hour for the flagships.
If you have to just choose 1 this summer, I would choose Dollywood. The coaster lineup, shows, events, food, theming, you name it, is just top tier. Note, if you do not get fast pass, this park becomes a 2-day park real fast. Especially if you want to see some of the shows.
