I have recently visited a Kona coffee farm in Hawaii. The master roaster suggests putting whole beans in the freezer (not the fridge) to keep them fresh longer. However, do not let the beans defrost before using. He says the frozen beans will grinder even finer powder for espresso.
I have been recouping from surgery and found you. I subscribed. Excellent info Thank so much. I am 75 and buying food is confusing these days. Your vids are gonna help cut through and get the good stuff. Thank you for all you do.
At 41 you should still be looking good. I don't know how long he's been on this eating plan but a good eating plan will take years off of your looks and so will facial exercises.
The best reason to avoir k-cups and other coffee capsules is the environment. I have a reusable pod that I fill with Starbucks coffee or local NYC ground coffee and use in the Keurig.
Is it quality? My cousin bought one for his wife and had to go to local place to get a rubber gasget (ring) to put in it because coffee grounds were getting in it. When he had gone to store where he had purchased it they all were rubber gasget free so it wasn't a one off.
For whoever owns a nutribullet, you can grind coffee beans there. The two blades leaves it coarse and the 4 blades leaves it finer and does it faster, about 30 seconds. Also, it's better to use the small cup so the the grind is even and that lasts me for 1 wk/1 person
Can we get an ultimate tea guide as well? I looked at the ingredients on my TAZO tea bags yesterday thinking that I wouldnt see any other ingredients other than the loose leaf teas but nope, NATURAL FLAVORING. So disappointing.
I found you three days ago. I've been bingeing like Netflix. Love the content. You two are killing it. Something that wasn't brought up was mold. Mold is common in some popular coffee choices.
I follow the international coffee markets pretty closely, and if you get high-end expensive single origin coffee, it's almost never moldy. Usually, they put the moldy stuff in the pre-ground coffee so you can't tell it's bad coffee. Don't buy the pre-ground stuff or the instant coffee because it usually has moldy beans.
@@BobbyParrish awww, man! I didn't know that! What about mold in the coffee I would ground at the grocer? What's the probability in that? I appreciate it but this comment makes my heart sad😔
If it has had mold, you can see it if you know what to look for. The kind of whole beans you grind at the store almost never has mold in it. I have seen it, but it's really rare.
Flour video!!!! It's so hard to know what is best when shopping for flour. Thank you so much for all you guys do!! You have completely changed my grocery shopping.
I’m surprised you did not cover coffee beans from the bulk section! I usually buy freshly roasted beans in my local Whole Foods! Roasted on the same day, sometimes right before I buy them! Best coffee I’ve ever had.
Colombian is my favorite. I only by whole bean and when I open the bag I put it in an air tight plastic bag and pop it in the freezer. If you want to flavor your coffee just add a dash of your favorite spice and it works great.
@@sheena3913 They sell Fair Trade, Member's Mark Colombian whole bean that I swear by......Nice nutty flavor. I bought this product for years. The price is great for the size of the bag. Enjoy.
One thing about Sprayed coffee you got to remember It gets into the soil then it grows into the coffee beans js😊 So it’s not just on the outside it’s on the inside
Depends what chemicals Depends how it is farmed Some are worst some are less severe but you are right about using this chemical injecting in our bodies little amounts over time as they build up inside us all cant say that is good....
Loved this video!!! I heard somewhere that putting coffee grounds in the fridge was better 😱 taking them out now! Thank you for all the information you share ☕️❤️
Invader coffee has some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! I love how the original invader blend is air roasted, preventing the beans from being too acidic or burnt, but my favorite coffee that they offer is the mexican chocolate. It is the smoothest best flavored coffee blend that I have ever had!! Another good blend that I’ve tried is the Whiskey blend which is my third favorite. No bitterness yet deep flavor, it is to die for!! Finally I love how the company is run by a vertern and how the website is super user friendly and delivery is fast and on time. I highly, highly, highly suggest you get yourself some invader coffee.
I never knew how they made decaf coffee. I always learn something in your videos ❤. I admit I love my Keurig, and there are few good companies that make recyclable pods (Mauds) or compostable pods (Cameron's Coffee made by my MN peeps). I like how that lady left the cooler door open. I wonder if she does that at home with her fridge 😒? Great video as usual.
Please do a video on maca, spirulina and other not-so-common elements that we should be adding to our diets. I use macha and collagen and MCT oil on the daily, but want to include other good food habits to my health routine. Gracias amigo. Me encanta que te gusta hablar español. Mi familia es de España y soy maestra de español). ;-)
Thanks for doing this video. Can you do a video on protein shakes? Ready made protein shakes Can you review Promier protein shakes Also flavorless protein protein Collagen powder❤️❤️❤️❤️🤦🏼♀️
Nice job, as per usual Bobby! Just FYI folks, the stainless steel reusable k-cup does NOT work well in the Keurig machines. It sprays and makes a little bit of a mess. The purple plastic ones on amazon do work well, though - but plastic, meh :-\ Always weary of that when heat is applied. That said, Bobby - in drip machines hot water is passing through all plastic parts...so not sure if your criticism on the k-cup for health reasons is any better than how a drip machine uses mainly plastic parts.
Makes me think twice about my Keurig machine. But it's so convenient living by myself. I'm the kind of person who wants coffee first thing when I wake up.
With the grocery store grinders, make sure you bang and clean the nozzle chute. There may be left over 'flavourings' in previously ground coffee you don't want going into yours.
Please do cat and dog food comparisons. So many animals are getting cancer these days. What exactly should we be looking for and avoiding? The healthier we keep our pets is like an investment... And no, I'm not trying to put veterinarians out of business. Thanks
The dramatic pause kills me every time😂. Coffee drinker here!🙋🏻♀️ I stopped drinking the cold coffees, reading the ingredients I see Carrageenan in it 😵💔 thnx guys! Shout out to #uncleFarturo 🎥👱🏻♂️
Great knowledge as usual. I would definitely say spraying is a big deal. Only organic always. Trader Joe’s has cheap organic. Also, @flavcity what do you think of Acrylamide? It seems non escapable. Instant Coffee was found to have 300 times more Acrylamide.
i love this guy!!! i just found him yesterday when i was looking for healthy meal ideas iiam so glad i did knowledge is power, love watching all these videos and will make smarter choices like not using my coffee creamer anymore!!thanks! for all your knowledge and the truth!
I honestly don't understand.... he's ok with Gellan gum (a bacterially produced gelling agent), Quillaja extract (a foaming agent), ashwagandha extract (some herb that we have no idea if its carcinogenic or not or what the chemical extraction process is), highly refined coconut oil in the cold brew coffees. And yet he's going to obsess over hot water going through a keurig cup?
I follow the international coffee markets pretty closely, and if you get high-end expensive single origin coffee, it's almost never moldy. Usually, they put the moldy stuff in the pre-ground coffee so you can't tell it's bad coffee. Don't ever buy the pre-ground stuff or the instant coffee. That's where they put the moldy beans.
@@shoptexas4406 Yeah, I usually roast my own from Sweet Maria's. Overall Ethiopian coffee is good because it is usually heirloom. Generally, the Geisha cultivar is the best tasting or SL-28 from Kenya is good as well. But everyone has their own preference.
Thanks for all the coffee info. Gonna start grinding a bag per week. Get some real flavor from my coffee. Any chance you can also do a deep dive into keto/ healthy protein powders.
My parents buy so much stuff from Costco and guess what I go to take an ibuprofen and it’s years expired, same with the coffee, the oatmeal and the flour. One time I went to use red pepper flakes and there was NO flavor! So please, never buy bulk coffee unless you’re making it for your church or something.
Thanks Bobby. My family and I appreciate your recommendations. I’ve been trying most of the products you approved, and definitely recommend them as well. Keep doing it!. I’m so grateful for your time and dedication. God keep blessing you!!!.
I you are near a Fairway Market get Costa Rica Dark or Brazilian -- they roast their own. Peet's Major Dickison Blend is a good bagged blend you can find at Target or the grocery store. Costco has Peets sometime and their Cuban Mayorga is good. We drink it fast enough where going stale is not a problem. All Whole bean. Grind your own beans. Never found anything good at Whole Foods.
I love my herbal coffee. Kaffree Roma is the brand I usually get. Have to order it online though. It’s caffeine free, non GMO, dairy free, and vegan. Made from roasted malt barley with a touch of chicory and rye. Add a splash of coconut creamer and it’s delish!
You are correct Bobby the non-organic farmers spray the heck out of coffee (one of the most heavily sprayed corps there is) those pesticides are washed down into the soil and sucked up through the roots of the plant - which loads up the beans with that crap. Even after harvested and roasted, most all regular beans show up with pesticide residue in the bean.
6:01 “Poor in third world countries…” ok. I guess you calling farmers poor is really unprofessional and you should watch your words. Have some respect for coffee farmers.
Wait Bobby you got it wrong with cold brew, you said it has less caffeine than regular coffee and that is furthest thing from the truth. It could have 2x more caffeine
Thanks for the video Bobby! Great coffee education this morning. I have a Keurig machine that I hate myself for using and had vowed to get rid of it for all the things you mentioned in the video. I had NO idea that the stainless steel cups existed. I purchased through Amazon before your video even ended. Thank you so much. Anything for the environment. Also, great tip on the Laird line of coffee. I currently use his creamer with tumeric. So good and healthy. Keep up the good work, sir.
Also do you have a recommendation for a coffee maker that’s safer? We have a keurig and I never thought about the plastic k cups and the coffee maker being plastic too until watching this.
Ana 02 I use Cameron's brand and a couple others that use the same packaging. You can always do a pour over or French press. Here's a link to the type I use. I have tried all the types and enjoy them all. www.amazon.com/dp/B01N79EL9R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Oh7LDb8TCB34E
We shop at the same stores , just never catch you when you're there. I work for a coffee company if i catch you while im on my route. I'll hook you up with some of our coffee.
from a coffee purist's point of view, another argument against flavored coffee is that it takes practically the entire tree 's worth of beans to make one pot of coffee, so changing the flavor is quite disrespectful!
I have to agree with you, K cups are HORRIBLE! My husband loves the convenience of making coffee instantly, but I say, nothing worth having is worth jeopardizing your health. I make my coffee the old fashion way like my Abuela use to make every morning and evening. Cafe con leche was made by brewing the espresso on the stovetop and while the family waited for the coffee to percolate, there was a small pot of milk simmering along the side of her what I use to call la senorita. (aluminum pot in shape of a young lady.)
Bobby, some grocery stores have taken out their coffee grinders. Also, why not use grass fed (full fat, heavy cream) cream as a creamer. It's super delicious and what butter is made from. I don't understand why people use butter instead of cream.
I don't usually put any thing in until lately but the collegen powder but Never even thought of that; thanks I will try it I'm sure it will be delicious.
The absolute best thing you can do is find a roaster local to you. Then you know exactly how freshly roasted your beans really are. Grind only what you need with a burr grinder, not blade grinder. Use a french press.
Arlande Julien I just bought a cuisinart grinder (has lots of good reviews) from qvc! So excited... My husband and I are new to coffee... We normally do tea... Japanese tea.
I was wondering if we needed to buy organic too, at grocery outlet they have some whole beans that are literally in a brown bag with a name on it and it’s either from Nicaragua or El Salvador, etc
So I can grab a bag of whole bean coffee at the store and have them grind it for me right then and there? What if I don't want the entire bag ground up at once? :P
I was surprised when you said the grocery stores didn't carry the two instant coffees you recommended because I know the local Natural Grocers health food store carries both and I have seen the Laird coffee in regular grocery stores as well.
Your comment is interesting to me. I used to use this for someone around their house to keep ants away, I never would have thought to drink it. What brand and where do you buy it? Plus, how much do you take? It seems like something that would be toxic if taken too much. Thanks
Greg Taylor Hello Greg. Well if your going to use it internally purchase the Food Grade ONLY!!! It MUST be food grade. You can take it daily.. but I would start out VERY slow in a low dose maybe a half tsp and work my way up over time. ( Because you may be very toxic and just like with any detox you’ll have cleansing reactions because it’s trying to get the bad stuff out) We take it with anything liquid but keep in mind if you take it with only water it’s going to be a little chalky/gritty. We order off Amazon by Harris for about $13 for 2 lb bag or Root Naturally Omri is really good. But if you go to diatomaceousearth.com you can order from there too and the bonus with them is it teaches you how to use DE, how to take it orally how to give to pets, as well as it’s household uses. It even kills bedbugs! We literally had huge ant hills in our yard and we went around and put it on each one and the next day they were all gone!! Its just amazing we don’t live without know because it’s multi functional. Hopefully it’ll do the same for you too. Let us know, God Bless!!
@@lemons2lemonade884 Thank you so much for one, a speedy reply, and so much good information. I'm going to try it, and I will def. go by your guidelines for dosage and where to buy it. I buy off of Amazon all the time, so I'll take that recommendation. I'll let you know over time what becomes of it. Thanks so much, and have a great week. 😃👍
I hate coffee but I'm still watching because I love how imformative your videos are and I could learn alot from this and pass it along to my friends and family that drink coffee I'll also share this video so they can subscribe. ❤❤❤❤
10.14 beans are very porous for the caffeine to go out. But earlier, you said pesticides might not enter the coffee bean cos of the hard coat. So, caffeine can go out but no pesticides can enter the bean?
For ground coffee, I have a few favorite veteran, first responder brands 🎗🚔🚒🚑☕ Alpha Coffee, Black Rifle Coffee Co, Fire Dept Coffee/donut shop. I also like Publix deluxe brand, Krispy Kreme, Folgers 1850/Pioneer blend.
I was watching this video at 1.5 x and didn't realize the irony of it all until you started talking about caffeine! Bobby is there a coffee maker you recommend that doesn't have plastic or aluminum in the water path?
Check the roasted date on the bag, some of the coffees at Costco or SAMs club can be super old and poor quality. If it's roasted 3 months or less you're good.
Bobby thanks for all the great content u provide us ona daily basis. Thank Art for holding and hiding that camera 😊 On another note though, I was wondering what kind of Collegen do u take? I just started taking it 3 months ago, I have bought three different brands and I don't like the taste. Can u recommend one that has no taste? Thanks.
I’m so glad you didn’t endorse flavored coffees. I bought a can a year or so ago & felt like I was drinking a scented candle. I despise synthetic flavors. I only bought it because I used to drink DD hazelnut back when I had a much less sophisticated palette.
