Excellent video with great content. We bought an early S10CV Cordless at Goodwill for $75 with battery and charger. Someone put the wrong belt on that was so tight, it actually moved the armature of the motor out a bit and made a terrible grinding noise. I repaired the motor and it works like new. The battery lasts a long while. Our battery is screwed on so doesn't dismount like your later generation machine. We like this Vacuum so much, we bought a second R10CV, sadly from a Vacuum store that was closing. With shipping, it was $325 which is a steal. We have a collection of Simplicity/Riccar Vacuums. The R10P corded Vacuum is awesome. Wish they could make the corded machine quieter. Thanks for the video.

I bought this to replace our aging Oreck magnesium. My wife loves it. It's much quiter, seems to clean carpet better, and doesn't fling debris on hard surface as much as our Oreck did. It's nice not dragging a cord around either.

@@HouseOfVacuums I just bought this vacuum and immediately snapped something in the neck as it got caught under a cabinet. Thanks to this teardown, I was able to safely find the broken plastic and apply some epoxy without breaking it even more, which saved me a LOT of money (and saved the best vacuum I've ever purchased for my business.) This is my first time watching one of your videos, and looking around at the others, there's a lot more helpful information. Subbed!

As a side note, they should reinforce the neck where the base connects to the pivot joint. A little metal would go a long way to make this vacuum more sturdy for commercial use. The plastic isn't even reinforced with glass fiber. Other than that, this vacuum cleans better than most of my corded units.

Wish you’d tell us which is the best cordless for bare floors handheld..I was buying the shark vertex duo pro with the big canister but you hammered the liter model so I figured it was junk too, even though another channel picked it over all other cordless modules..

Honestly, the Riccar R10CV is surprisingly good on bare floors given the rubber sealing strip to the rear of the brushroll. Bare floor in general is not particularly challenging for stick vacs as it does not require a lot of air movement to clean. Riccar R10CV, Simplicity S65, Miele HX1, Dyson V8 Absolute... they are all fine on bare floors. Where sticks start to struggle is carpeting, which is where the R10CV is king.

My battery for some reason is not charging. Now the guy at the store showed me how to do it. Very simple so I know i”m not misunderstand what he had shown me but upon taking my brand new vac home I found my new batter/charger will not charge. Plugged in the charger to the wall & the cord to he battery pack. Waited 5 hours or so like they told me to & I pressed that “display” button & imagine my surprise when NO lights lit up. Not even the red one. Even though the light on the charger adapter is green itself so I don’t know what the deal is but this is not a good feeling with my spanking brand new vac. I’m not happy. If you could advise as to why this is happening & what could be the matter I appreciate it. Don’t see any RU-vid videos related to the battery not charging.

Sorry for the delayed response! If your battery isn't working, I would take the vacuum back to the point of purchase. This isn't a common issue with Riccars by any means, but anything with a battery is more susceptible to issues like these. The vac is still under warranty and you should get a replacement machine no problem. If the retailer gives you any trouble, try calling Tacony direct using the information on your owner's manual.

Can you upgrade the wooden brush roll to the newer chrome one?

You sure can! The metal brushroll drops right in to where the wood one was with no needed modification. The part number for the metal brushroll is D220-0200. Cheers!

I keep a newer model of this Riccar on a boat that is not heated nor occupied during the winter on the Great Lakes. The boat is hauled out and stored up on the shoreline because, as we all know, the lakes freeze. Temperatures will get below freezing. Should I retrieve the Riccar or is it safe to leave it aboard knowing the battery and components will be subjected to below freezing temperatures?

Good question! I don't think the freezing temps will hurt the cells. Lithium doesn't work well in cold temps, but the cold also won't hurt them. I think my only concern would be if the temps get into the single digits or sub-zero... that could be hard on the PCB and also the plastics on the vac. If it gets that cold out there, I would probably take it off the boat. Hope that helps!

It is a direct air motor like the Orecks, etc. It's really the only way to make these things so light weight.

Yeah, it's part of it's lightweight construction. Long story, but the motor design won't allow for it. But it is excellent on bare floors and carpeting.
