I have just got back into scrapping. It is refreshing to know there are people like you and Moose out there that share all. About ten years ago I tried my hand at e-scraping and got burnt. I did make some gold but it was at a premium. I listen to everyone I can now. I am retired and need something to stay busy. Thanks so much for the info. I like your candor and it is the type of down-to-earth style I appreciate. I try to be as honest as possible and loathe those who aren't. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to future videos.

You are correct in saying the "Gold plated" items are 10k.. Yet Gold recovery from E Waste is NOT base on the Gold plated items.. Gold recovery in E waste is based on the "24k GOLD BOND WIRES IN THE CHIPS".. AND the Gold bond wires are 24k.. That is confirmed.. Good video..

Thanks for the videos. I bought two Lucent telecom boxes today the guy at the scrap yard said he had sold two tractor trailer loads of these boxes for $25 each. I know the guy personally so i trusted him. Not sure how much gold is there but your videos help. They have more boxes but not biying anymore till i know what i got. Probably a bust.

Just 1 mistake bro, the second ceramic procesor is an Amd k6, has no gold inside except the pins, Amd k5 worth much more like 5 dolars, for 0.25 points of gold each. Thanks for videos and explanațions. 😁😁😁. Second mistake, it is gold inside cooper procesor radiator.

Finally a video telling the truth about the value of scrap. To many people make videos implying that the average person can make decent money scrapping average items around the house. Like pointing out there's copper on pcb and transformers but nobody points out the value of copper is around 2-4pence and the same with gold.... it's no get rich quick scheme. Even for scrapers collecting enough gold plating items to reclaim or recover takes time to make it worth while

Very informative video. A lot of info not found in other e-scrap videos. I also enjoyed the passion you obviously have for this hobby of yours, however you may want to wrangle in some of that anger. You sounded like you had "Angry Dad Syndrome" working every once in a while. 😲 (A.D.S. example: the son will politely ask dad if he had toast with breakfast and dad will reply, "Toast!No I didn't have toast this morning! I had a muffin! Why would I have toast! Who said I had toast?! No one in his right mind ...etc." The dad then walks away still angrily talking.) Anyway, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Greatly appreciated. ☺

The bonding wires inside most ic's are actually 18/20/22 karat gold. The contacts are indeed less pure as they need to be a little harder.

lol at 46:-01 you do the acid test on the processor and go into a rand about not getting 24 k gold. You're so right! if they see gold they think it's 40 dollar a gram 24k and we just pull it out without any troubles. I do have to agree that there is a lot less gold in things (and mostly 10 - 12k not 24) than people even realize.

Greetings from northern Sweden and fellow Scrapper and new subscriber. I do microscrapping and take off what gold I can find, I do not refine it as I'm not familiar with the chemistry. Saving up pins, connectors, IC chips, tantalum and MLCC to sell it once I get enough. I just got a huge load of older electronics from mid 80's I think. Really good plating on those 😀
@chosen1one930
@chosen1one930 2 года назад
The guy that made the video has no clue about refining or how anything works, just like you can't test gold on that's on a board because it's so thin and the copper underneath will screw any results, you can only test to see if gold is present because computer manufacturers only use 22 to 24 karat gold. Don't waste your time with newer mlcc and tantalum, tantalum doesn't sell for shit and only a very few people buy it. Newer mlccs have little to no precious metals BUT old school mlccs are the ones you want. yielding 30 grams of palladium per kilo and silver. Check out owltech

He is a moron and nothing he saidnwas true. Gold isn't used so the pins won't corrode this is common sense because they Plate the pins fully in nickel ie no Corrosion. Gold is used for better connector, transmit data and charging. Power charges for phones are a great example, they have only a certain number of times you can plug the charger in, this is because of the gold. Everything you plug it in the gold strips down a little until the charger will no longer work. I forget how many times it is but linustechtips made a video

Hi, appreciate the info, just started watching your videos but will surely try and watch them all. I have a question about the hard drive platters.. All I've heard is they are not worth saving because it takes a ton to get a significant amount of platinum. I heard u say about 50 average size makes a gram and was wondering if that's true? Because in that case they are definitely worth saving them. I know you have a lot of processing under your belt so was wondering if u personally recovered that much yourself?? Please let me know and again, thanks for the info.

Than why do they use nickel on all of these pins? It isn't bare copper or brass the nickel stops any pins from corroding but I guess you missed that since you have no common sense, why would they only plate part of the pin and leave everything else exposed? You have no clue about refining or why you can't even test gold on boards due to it being such a thin layer with copper underneath screwing any test.

Have you thought of putting the legacy gaming rigs online, assuming they are functional? The value is much higher than the value of the metal. Some of the systems like NES are going for HUNDREDS of dollars, and it's only going to go up. If I were you, I'd be archiving and speculating on all functional gaming consoles.

Better late than never removing pins from ceramics MAAP/MAPP/MAP gas. And a high quality carbon vice. 3 minutes with a map tourch will start to disable the bonds in the ceramic. Though this itself is very expensive and I only use it on 4004/4040 class chips and earlier (which were, in many cases, very high content gold alloys, not plate) on the underside of caps: The brass/gold looking layer on the underside is actually gold, though in such a minute plating most tests will miss it. A scan with an XRF gun will show sub whole percents (.002-.009) depending on the processor. Which is the reason you're seeing a delay in the melt through. It's not plating by any common standerds. It's actuall mist applied. As in air misting. I've seen the construction of these in the factory and it blew my mind how LITTLE gold makes such a nice gold looking layer. Unless your Finally if you are really interested in aerospace scrap; email me

Just break the ceramic, a lot easier and you have the same results. If you think they use gold bond wires inside the ceramic to connect pin to contact isn't true. They use copper or aluminum and that's how they have been doing it for a long time, than gold bond wire from that contact to the silicon die

Here are some numbers for everyone this is whats honest and what you ahould expect out of a pound of certainn things im not going to list cpus cause people usually dont do them right like this guy here as example, pound of closely cut fingers from pci, isa cards 2 - 6 grams of gold....100 memory sticks just the fingers not including the ic chips on them, .8 - 2 grams of gold flatpacks 3 - 6 grams of gold ic chips can vary due to the different sizes and some only having pins on 2 sides and others 4 sides, but average 1 - 4 grams of gold monolithic caps do not bother refining them unless you know some chemistry good chemistry, but silver is the main thing you get out of them unless you know they are prior to 1992, no gold jus silver and palladium
@perryseay480
@perryseay480 9 лет назад
Dude!!!!!! Havee you ever noticed people selling unfinished ceramic cpus on ebay? Your on there enough you should notice them!!!!! But there are gold wires all through the ceramic part, the ones you have already done your recovery on. Pentium pro's and K5's have about .5 of a gram of gold in them. +/- a .1 of a gram cause every processing plant is going to be different, thats just the way it works...and K6's have .1 to .15 of gold. Seriously read learn than do it all over again before spreading false information. Download a app called scribed it has books on there giving you the amount of items you need to make a ounce of things, plus how much each cpu has in gold, than other things like the caps fingers off of isa, pci cards.

Perry Seay Those sites are run by recovery Co's(buying your scrap)giving you extravagant #'s, then send you a check for far less(than you're expecting) telling you you didn't have what you thought ask for your scrap back(rolls eyes). Research who's giving you your info first. There is EXACTLY .337G of gold in a pentium pro. I've done enough of them independently and NEVER come up w/ .5 grams.
@dadrules714

@perryseay480
@perryseay480 9 лет назад
+dadrules714 with you saying there is exactly blah blah number in pentium pros you dont know what you are talking about, every processing plant varies with the amount of gold but all are very close and each year there process may of gotten a little better. read on other gold recovery forums other people leave there ceramic chips once they process pins than ball mill down and recover the ret of the gold wire. they are just like ic chips...cpus are the most important part of a computer for it to work, so you need better connectivity without lossing data or transmission. they wouldnt skimp out on them and just use copper. they started using copper once they learned how to better the process and that is with the fiber cpus....also military grade equipment uses higher grade gold ie 18k and up

@EnnoiaBlog
@EnnoiaBlog 8 лет назад
+‫احمد يونس‬‎ There is also a loss of productivity when you use something that is THAT outdated. I don't know how much you know about computers, but you can't very well go running Windows 7 on 15-20 year old CPUs. Furthermore, there's the overuse of electricity that comes from using such old higher-micron equipment -- causing you to spend more for electricity for using such outdated electronics. All in all, I would agree with you up to a point. I'd draw a line in the sand, so to speak, for all CPUs and gear up to a specific date (which keeps getting pushed ahead, as time progresses). Even if something works, I'd destroy it for the gold content if it fell behind that line in the sand. I'd keep some old motherboards to test things like RAM and CPUs up to that same line in the sand -- recovering the gold from any that don't work, no matter how new they are. Sell the working RAM/CPUs on eBay for as long as they have a demand, and then destroy those too once they pass that line in the sand.

You need to stop giving false information, 45 hard drive platters does not yield 1 gram of platinum. 2nd Most if not all monolithic caps after 1992 are not made with palladium, and even the ones before 92 were not all palladium based. Your information on cpus is right but other things you need to study a little. It is about at most 2mg per hard drive platter. If you do the math it. Takes a lot to get a gram. Older platters do have more platinum but not amounts you are lying about.

+dadrules714 No i am pretty spot on, palladium was used at a much higher rate 92 and before, you can expect 1 % to 3 % back on monolithic ceramics...its so little its not worth the time nor the danger because it is much harder to recover than gold. That is why I state what I did because epople should not be messing with them cause it is not worth the time nor the risk your taking

+dadrules714 So where are your receipts from where you've sold your precious metals to someone after recovery and refining? anyone can have some money sitting around in a video or a thumbnail preview for a video. I ask this cause where in the world did you get your number for a ounce of platinum in platters. i know for damn sure no1 bout that from you cause it wasnt platinum you refined down.....

+Perry Seay I DON't sell Troll. I keep it. It's untraceable TAX FREE GOLD. It's always been REAL money since the beginning of time and when Wall Street says Paper is now worthless(it's happened before) How much I have is my Biz Not Yo tubes. What the Gov't doesn't know you have...they can'y take away. In 1932 an elderly couple from Hungary with 2 grams of gold got out of hungary on a ship and to the U.S. Paper $ was SO worthless they burned it as firewood. A wheelbarrow full bought a loaf of bread. I highly recommend you save it too. the market is being set up for another 2008 but worse.
