That specific aircraft was the venerable su34 which I think has an air to ground and air to air radar in it's nose and is also wide because it is a two seater. The su34 is a multirole fighter so it can carry all the missiles of other flanker models, but it is primarily used as a ground attack aircraft. One of my favorites for sure!

@@deanboy2416 Hmmm... I would say it's true but on 50% The 37M did hit the targed at 325km away twice (2 Ukrainan aircrafts, but it was SU 57). But the max range of 37M - 380km in theory (not 400+). Plus R-37 was desined for slow targets (tankers, AWACS), not shure that the 37M could hit F15 or F16 that far. Dual stage R-77M way more dangerous for F15/16s. I do not want to see that fights in real, but soon we will see it... 100%.

@@alexeyguskov8153 If it can hit a large slow moving target at 380-400km then it can probably hit a maneuvering fighter at around 250-300km no problem. As for its design I'll say this: it is roughly in the same weight class as the AIM-54 Phoenix, and that missile had no trouble hitting fighter-sized maneuvering targets, so I dont think that the R-37M will have any trouble at all.

SU-30SM2 is it, with the front tail, new radar and SU-35 engine.

Its good for domestic consumption. Exciting airshow performances create a feeling of competency. But don't underestimate its WVR and BVR capabilities. Its presence will make sure the west will never enjoy air supremacy.

Could give a pretty significant advantage in dogfights(however its unlikely they'd get into a dogfight in the first place). Depending on the type of pylons used to launch missiles they could get some high offbore sight shots off on target.

To be fair, Russian - or Chinese - military equipment would have locked Australia into Sino-Russian doctrine, culture and politics. With Hugh White, I'd say the only chance of Australia to remain neutral would have been to receive nuclear submarines and nuclear arms - and in consequence to cut all political ties to the US and the Commonwealth - in other words, a coup. From there, a domestic defense industry would have to be set up - which is not exactly trivial (e.g. Australia has no nuclear industry, no aviation industry, no armor industry - solely some experience in submarine production). At this point, all is too late as it would take two generations to get that kind of readiness... Even if Australia would have openly joined China as a guarantor of it's territory, the US would have laid waste to Australian ports like the British did with neutral Denmark during the Napoleonic Wars...

@@rajaydon1893 ~ well, I'm not sure that's something I'd be bragging about. The F-16 was designed in 1972 and stealth was never a consideration in the first 20+ years of it's life. '70s planes from America, had twin tails at 90 deg to the airframe. They started to go away from that with the F/A 18. Russian air frames, they're still making them that way. Twin vertical tails is like a deliberately made radar reflector. There are very good reasons for them, in aerodynamics and handling and high alpha and agility, but from a stealth stand-point, that's a nightmare. Now consider the Su-35 again ~ it has a smaller radar cross section than an F16. Ok, good. But that's still like an old metal bookshelf from the local library. Let's make another comparison. Turkey is starting to make a stealth fighter, I can't quite remember the name, but it looks like an F-22 except it has round exhausts, not the rectangular thrust vectoring ones. If you told me it had pretty good stealth as long as it was faced mostly toward you, I'd accept that. Now how does your Su-35 compare to the latest from Turkey? Don't compare it to something that was designed before the fall of Saigon, compare it to something that's in the prototype stage now.

In a visual range fight, I would back the Su-35 as being the equal of almost anything, but at 20 ~ 40 miles out, that's a different story. You can't fight what you can't see, and you can't beat somebody who can lock you up and launch beyond your detection range. A pilot of an F-22 or an F-35 is never going to get inside 40 miles, because why give up your advantage? It's not meant to be an 'even fight' ~ that's what they're designed for.

The Su-30mki uses a weaker radar and engines that aren't as good as the Su-35. The J-16 though, does have better avionics but worse engines.

@@imepriimek398 2 fighters were shot down. This information was from the news of NATO countries as well. Ukraine confirmed the loss of two aircraft. But we cannot know for sure what exactly shot them down; perhaps it was the S400 or S350 air defense. Su-35 fighter missiles are used against AWACS; it is unlikely that they can shoot down a fighter because it is too maneuverable a target. For fighters, medium-range missiles are used.

No. The Chinese engines are not up to snuff. They also really only bought the su35 for the engines to try to reverse engineer. The j16 is more a stepping stone. Everyone laughed at Chinese cars 20 years ago. Now they are better built than German cars. I’m sure the platform after the j16 will be a contender.

Su-35 has better kinematics, but that's about it when compared to the J-16. Supposedly in internal drills, Su-35's avionics are easily overwhelmed using electronics warfare, supposedly they even lose against J-10s and J-11Bs due to EW and combat integration in exercises. The unit that received them was kinda pissed about it, since they used to be a fairly elite unit before hand and they believed the plane held them back during exercise and in case of real conflict, the poor electronics and interoperability would relegate them to secondary roles.

@@WangGanChang VKS Flanker EW wingtip pods ‘Sorbstya’ are said to be extremely disruptive to not only other aircraft in the flight but to the flanker carrying them as well. Which sounds fairly detrimental. With that said, you never see VKS flankers over Ukraine fly without them. Which says something considering it’s just extra weight/drag. Either way, I’d rather fight a su35 or j16 in a modern typhoon or Rafale, yet alone an f35 or f22. The east still has some way to go to catch up to the west. Although the Chinese have improved a lot, thanks to stealing western tech
