Thank you again for all the information...if you don't mind I'm just going to share some additional tips. 1. At the junkyard, if the mustang is an automatic and not in neutral...the gear selector is on the driver side of the transmission. If you remove the cable and click it twice towards the back of the car, it will shift into neutral (this is so you're able to remove the slider pin in the axle housing to get to the C Clips.) 2. TAKE ALL THE BOLTS FOR THE CALIPER AND BRACKET lol 3. I used the front soft brake lines from the mustang for this conversion (if you do this, you will need a $5 3/16 to 1/4 brake adapter from Auto Zone for the driver side) 4. If you don't remove your axles on your ranger, I used a combination of a step bit, hacksaw, and 3in cutoff disk to remove the drum backing plate. I used the cutoff disk to create a relief cut, then created a series of holes with the step bit underneath the initial cut from the cutoff disc. I then used the hacksaw to finish everything off (this way was much safer than using the cutoff for the entire thing lol). 5. I used the cutoff wheel to remove 1.5in of spring from the emergency brake cable. 2.75in of .5in copper pipe provided factory-like tightness, but 2.25 does stop the vehicle tho. 6. Bevel the inside of the axle bracket is super important and was a good call. This conversion does not improves braking much, but it does much braking much smoother than the jerky feel of the drums. Plus I like that it only takes less the 30mins to change out the pads and rotors.

It was worth the cool factor, even if performance is a push vs the drum brakes. And thanks for the burnout! Haven’t seen you around CF lately, hope all is well.

Yup. no regrets on the swap. It works very well but just have to be realistic in the reasons for doing the swap. Ahh yes the saga of the CF lol. Managed to get myself banned again. I've been a member of around 30 different forums in the last 25 years and CF is the first and ONLY place I've ever been banned from. This ban is listed as permanent. No idea if they are going to stick to that or no. I'll wait and see if they have a change of heart after a month or so. I've already created another account under my VPN but have not used it. If I do make a comeback it will be from scratch and on the down low. There are a handful of moderators there that I and others have had problems with and they just insta ban you under the guise of mod/site bashing instead of actually having a conversation. Very frustrating. Thanks for the reachout good sir!

@@PNW_Car_Mods That really sucks. I hope you can make a comeback. -vette4fl.

@@bat5917 Yup, No worries. Just have to be patient. I am curious if you could when you get a chance try sending me a PM on the CF. I'm curious to know what it will say or do for you. I've had a couple others say that the forum doesn't show me as banned and that it actually has me as green lit active on the board. Weird stuff. Hope the heads and cam install are going well. I can still see the forum by the way. I just can't post or like button.

@@PNW_Car_Mods It does not show you as banned. Tried to send a pm, but would not go through. They might have sent it to Mr. Black, but without the period. I’ve done that and then was curious when you didn’t reply, oops. As a matter of fact I was sending you a pm with a question about my build, when I got the “can’t receive email…” flag. Well I hope you can get this resolved soon enough. In the meantime, keep the videos coming! I’ll be installing the heads in the next few days, and your engine building for dummies is a tutorial I use. I should include a link for that in my post as my reference for any other guys new to that. 👍

Awesome and thank you. We've got almost 2k miles on this setup already and so far it's working great!

I go through periods of glove vs non-glove use. I think it depends on temperature. I feel like I tend to not wear them when it's hot out because "reasons" but I wear them in the cold? Or maybe it has to do with how greasy I plan on getting? Or maybe I only started wearing them when I got old? The world may never know.

Glad I'm not the only one. I've been a wrench all my life and it is just so random for me. Obviously if I'm running fabrication equipment I wear my gloves and they've saved my ass often. I'll run cutoff discs and wheels way closer to my hands than most people will. Doing technical stuff in gloves sucks!

I'm guessing this currie brake line kit fits perfectly into the pre-existing brake line on the ranger? Doing the same thing on my 94 ranger, the brake line on the ranger is 3/16, I believe
@PNW_Car_Mods
@PNW_Car_Mods 4 месяца назад
That is correct. The only thing I didn't use out of the currie kit was the banjo bolts as apparently explorer brakes use a different bolt so just reuse the mustang banjo bolts.

Thanks for the quick response. I found a kit that was a bit cheaper than the currie kit, but is basically the same thing, I'm still holding on to the banjo bolts on the mustang calipers. I always forget just how much of a pain in the butt it is to install calipers with brand new fresh shoes with that super tight fit LOL hopefully my package will be in soon, and I'll be driving in a week. Until then back to the little 05 Camry.

Hey...did you have to remove the mustang axles at the junkyard to remove those flat caliper brackets? Thanks

Another option is to just get the brackets off of ebay. they are often on there for cheap!

@@PNW_Car_Mods Thanks a ton...it feels like I'm following your steps. I built a 07 Grand Marquis with an used adtr supercharger kit. Your suspension was a huge help, the whole crown Vic series is great. I sold it and treated myself to a '21 Durango 392 and procharged it (cheaper than buying the hellcat lol). Now I'm building up my old ranger that has been sitting with a slow 5.0. We have similar taste. Thank you for all your videos and help; I'm subscribed to your channel on my other account.

Is it possible to send a kit like this here to Brazil? I have a 2000 Ranger and would like to install a kit like this.
@PNW_Car_Mods
@PNW_Car_Mods 20 дней назад
If you can find an ebay seller that will ship to Brazil it should be easy. There are lots of wrecking yards and other mustang parts shops that sell these parts as a package on ebay. Calipers, rotors, brackets, dust shields. All you would have to do is find suitable tubing to make the spacers for the emergency brake cables.

This is a drum Ranger 8.8, not an expo, correct?
@PNW_Car_Mods
@PNW_Car_Mods 8 месяцев назад
That is correct. I stayed away from the exploder axle on purpose. Those are super strong but too much of a pain in the ass to make the shocks and e brakes work properly.
