KEEPING IT COOL!!! Anyone that has been to a race track and raced a vehicle will know that heat dissipation is the number one priority. Your brakes, engine, transmission, and countless other systems will be stressed and you will be able to figure out what is the weak point of your car. From there, you would improve it and then go back to the track and repeat this process. The cooling system on any car will be abused and to keep the engine running in good working condition, it is necessary to shed of any excess heat. In this video, Luca and I completely overhaul Luca’s cooling system with a bunch of PROVEN components.

One thing that might also help is putting some foam tape in between the shroud and the rad, helps to seal things off and make sure the fans are pulling the most air through the fins when idling

I recommend the oem style oil cooler like sti has. It keeps the oil temps in check and brings them down nicely after ripping it in TX summer heat.

I never had a problem with the water cooling on this car. It was the Damn oil I had a problem with, especially with the turbo. The avo oil cooler helped a lot!

even my stock Jetta will run at 172 F on highway with stock cooling system.. the reason it was doing this, was my thermostat was opening at a cooler temperature than spec... so the main thing keeping it running cooler is the different spec thermostat. of course the cooling upgrades should have a greater capacity to shed heat when racing or driving really hard. the cooling system and components you installed are quite nice, i like them especially because there are no plastic components, all aluminum, silicone hoses, etc.. good stuff that will actually last. two issues that might be encountered with the cooling system change, especially with that particular thermostat.. you will likely get an OBD code triggered, due to cruising at highway speed and the engine coolant temperature remaining below the spec operating temp. secondly, using that setup as a daily driver, running that cool.. is more likely to cause the engine to carbon up sooner.

I asked a similar question on an older video, this stuff is crazy expensive. Car is worth like 30k with all those mods and he is only 23 or something. Guess we have to keep grinding, time will come.

Brake ducts. They're not blingie, but they'll drop your lap times and keep the car safe all the way through your track session.

To keep the temps even lower you should add water wetter to your coolant.

I definitely need to do some cooling upgrades on my car. Texas heat I'm seeing 200-215... definitely a loss in power at that temp. But while moving its around 180-190.

That would have been an actual upgrade compared to mishimoto. Verus did a comparison with their radiator and it was found to be complete shit.

What is the fuel starvation problem? Let me guess? When you turn hard a certain way it starves the fuel pump of fuel? I know the Z has that same problem

Coilovers were a great purchase, but 3/4ths the other suspension pieces are useless other than for weight because he isnt trying to get a super specific alignment setting and the car isnt super low. Now all this cooling stuff? What are the plans for the car? This is so much money in suspension and cooling alone and most of it isnt needed on a mostly stock car unless hes planning on tracking this thing very often

That is the game plan. If Luca ever decides to boost his car, the cooling system will be upgraded enough to manage it and not have problems. The upgrades on here should allow Luca to drive the car hard and it should stay under composure. I'm hoping to bring Luca to his first track day soon

agreed - spend time at the track first and then makes modifications as your driver skill improves. All of this cash and modifications done on a car and he still hasn't even popped his track cherry. Mind you the car will fit in with the local TMP crowd of Track Day Bros, a bunch of bolt on WRX's that can't put down a sub 30 lap. I get he's excited for the car and that is great but if he actually starts to do consistent track days he will quickly realize how useless much of this is and how quickly other things become much more important

@@trevormontague803 Like what? What are some more important mods? We have a bunch more things like brakes and tires which are more important I find than stuff like coilovers and cooling, but every little bit helps, especially for sprints of 3+ laps.

For example, a lower temp thermostat is completely useless, it's one of the aftermarket parts that exist solely because of peoples want to just spend money on parts, not out of actual need. I agree that some of the mods you guys did were good and much further down the road will likely be needed, just not there yet. Testing coolant temps after a very brief wot pull on the street tells you nothing about how the car will cool during a 30min lapping session with heat soak. You won't truly know what you actually needs until your bro starts doing lapping days. This will be based in time spent lapping and driving style and skill. Case in point: I track a semi stripped out Toyota Yaris chassis, many people say that autox brake pad compounds are adequate for that light of a car. I found out that is not the case with my braking style and 45 min sessions at TMP. Every driver puts different demands on the car and this sometimes will correlate with lap times but not always. Coil overs, a 100tw tire and proper track brake pad compound will do wonders for your brother while he learns the cars and more importantly his limits on track. That said, you run a YT channel so I understand the need to put out content and therefore parts on the car. From a track perspective it is just a lot of cart before the horse
