We are inside the Palace of Westminster where the great and the good of the UK's leaders have spoken and also where the once great and the good have been laid in state, including Queen Elizabeth II over the next week. The ultimate place for a history lesson and it's free! 0:00 Welcome to the video 0:17 Westminster Hall 1:48 St Stephens Chapel 2:53 Cafe & Shop 3:38 Outside from Inside The Gates We hope you enjoyed this video. After all these centuries, these carvings, timbers, structures still look virtually ageless. As if they were built a few decades ago. Thank you for the historical education. I loved this video. You always play such beautiful music and always matches with your videos. Blessings.
What a beautiful building. The ceilings and glass 👓windows look stunning. My mum went on a trip there with the WI and got into the house of commons and was shocked at how few politicians 😳 there were there debating important issues. She said one of them was asleep and she was not impressed. Like you said there is so much history there including some pretty bad stuff like being sentenced to death. When I worked in Sr Thomas's sometimes the lights would be on part way through the night and you could see 👀 people moving around.
Great video! When you mean queue outside...where exactly does the queue begin..is it outside Westminster hall as there's security stopping entry to New palace yard where your video starts from.. Was this free entry through the free 'Inside UK Parliament' guided tour which you need to book by contacting an MP or can you just rock up for a visit on the day?
Hi there, to go in it is at the Cromwell Green entrance, which is towards Westminster Abbey and yes it is right by Old Palace Yard. Yes entry is free and is completely independent from the guided tour. It is a case of turning up and visiting on the day - but do check out that the House is sitting - holidays, often not on a Friday and later on a Monday! If you go enjoy :)
@@LondonVisited Thanks for the response. I tried to visit today..went in the afternoon at 3pm but the entrance at Cromwell green was closed off with no one present. It was quite thick cornering off in terms of lots of closed gates. When is the best time to visit and did u mean avoid when parliament is sitting..in which case I'm guessing holidays like today would be fine for entry? Also who do we speak to when entering..is it police officers or actual parliamentary staff..good to know if I'm in the right queue!
@@chaitanyachakradeo2278 you were at the right place but Parliament has to be sitting. It is closed for Easter over these two weeks and I think, you need to look it up, it reopens on weds 19th April. So best days to go are Tues-Thurs and there are by the police some parliamentary security staff to help and direct you.
