I am 76 and retired twice, military and civilian careers. Like you, I lived in a 2500 square foot home and downsized to a 2019 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van, less than 100 square feet of living g space. I thought it would be difficult but found it rather easy. What more than a comfortable bed, a stove and storage for food and clothes do you need? Planet Fitness is my shower place as well. I love to work out to keep my fitness up which also helps me stay mentally sharp. This is my third year of traveling (almost 30,000 miles) and living in my van. I enjoyed your video.

I retire in 2 1/2 years and we have the Rv we will go FT in and are currently working on the downsize. You spoke of consumerism and it was our big issue. I’ve resolved that. My wife…not so much 😂 but we’re getting there. The Rv we got was very specific. It was barely used but it was expensive (my channel has a video on it). We are definitely going for a minimalist lifestyle and I agree with what you said 👍🏼

I tell people think for yourself don't follow these RU-vid videos. That's why I do a good ideas from them, that's why I do a good ideas, but I don't follow them just like you absolutely right, everybody wants to follow each other with the same sprinter man. That's a bunch of sheeps, these are people who have no mind of their own. I have to I tell people to figure out for yourself, I'm really gonna regular Van with a high top end of story. This way, you can park on the streets you can park in the city or town an RV or a class B. You may not wait to do that. But think for yourself. Don't follow others. Think for yourself.

Wow, you went through a breakup so you went from a 2000 sq/ft house to a van. My breakup motivated me to leave NYC and move to France, and I'm still here after 20 years. Never lived in a van but I moved around a lot my first few years in France, lived in cheap tiny rooms, some which didn't have a shower so I can definitely identify with living minimally. Bonne route!
@redasthecolor
@redasthecolor 8 месяцев назад
Wow your story is crazy! Not moving back to the US in 20 years tells me that you’re really in love with France. I’ve never been there. But heard it’s beautiful Are you coming back to the US at all? Or you’re already completely settled in France?
@palerider2890
@palerider2890 8 месяцев назад
@@redasthecolor I have been back to the US from time to time -- mostly to NY and DC, but only to visit, sometimes for work, but I am firmly settled in France. France is a beautiful country in so many ways, it's the country in Europe which has mild northern climate in Normandy and Brittany, Atlantic Ocean in the west, Mediterranean in the south. I would never move back to the US for the simple reason that it is a country where $$$ reigns supreme. I see how much people have to pay to rent a tiny apt in NYC, and in most big cities. Eating out is so damn expensive. But I am, of course, very fond of the Americana in me which will always remain. Happy travels.

I completely disagree with the type of RV to full time in. A van is far Far FAR to small. It will not always be sunshine and warm, there WILL BE times when you are in your van a week straight due to weather. I had a 25' Class C, now a 28' class A, which I consider just right to live in.
