On a budget: -Buy a used police issue Glock or M&P in 9mm, keep it stock. A lot will have night sights. -3 mags -2 boxes of Speer gold dot/Hornady critical defences. -Streamlite Tlr1 -Save for a Rds (Holosun/RMR) and enjoy the night sights you got with the Po Po trade in! Point Aiming works in 15-30ft with a flashlight for positive ID..
Those night sites are great because in the pitch black you have a guide to tell you exactly where your gun is on the nightstand or where it is if you drop it.
Agreed I'm a huge fan of the PL mini on my G17. It's been out long enough and enough have been sold by non paid RU-vid commercial makers to have proven it's worth by now. Same goes for the PL 2 Valkyrie.
Their frequent sales is what puts me off of Olight. They advertise WAY too aggressively and if there's shit *always* on sale like it is then they could just charge less normally heh
I agree, get some good ammo, sights, a light, and mags. The extended controls are nice, especially for a price, but I guess if you're going for a minimalist approach then it's not a necessity
Personally I think I light should be upgraded number one. I would much rather have to put 10 rounds of FMJ through a home invader, then put two rounds of Nice ammo through a loved one.
I’m looking for my second handgun and am trying to decide between the 30sf or 21. I currently own an fn509 9mm for every day carry that is on the shop getting customized. I like the size of the compact, however for hone defense I’m thinking more of the 21 just because of the amount of rounds in the mag being more
Really? How does that work? You see someone down the hall with the lights off you pull out your gun and aim at whatever it is and shoot? But wait a second you didn’t even see who or what you shot at. doesn’t sound safe whatever. a light on your gun will show who or whatever it is and blind them not just blindly shooting at a shadow
Truth told any gun coupled with a flashlight is adequate. I used to pull out a Glock 30 with the 13 rounder before bed but that became a chore. What ever I carried that day lays on my nightstand, be it a Glock 19 or .38 LCR. I probably crack open the safe when I have the .38 tho. A criminal wont ask what he's just been shot with.
Would a well put together homemade 80% be as reliable and accurate as your factory made glock being displayed?, I love polymer 80 builds but dont want to risk stupid break in periods and putting my family in jeopardy in home defense situations
A truly budget Glock build would use the PSA PS9 Dagger with the PL-Mini 2 Valkyrie. The Dagger is more ergonomic than a standard Glock with night sights from the factory, so you might not gave to buy an extended mag release, and it's only 300 bucks.
@@FunWithGuns They're hitting the market next month, however it's by PSA, who has an excellent reputation for reliability, and it's basically a Glock 19 Gen 3, which is a time tested design. Out side of using a Glock, though, you can use a Taurus G3, which has been proven reliable, or the Smith & Wesson SD9VE, which are toted as a Glock substitute.
@@Megames2012 yeah I think s&w got sued by glock bc the SD9VE was so similar. I heard they have to give glock like $8 or $9 per one sold. Dont get me wrong, I'm sure it will be fine but PSA has been known to put out lemons and fix those issues with later generations. All I'm saying is I would never recommend a gun that hasn't hit market yet. Only because there hasn't been any field testing done yet. Kind of like what recently happened with the glock 44.
@@FunWithGuns I'm more than comfortable recommending a firearm that hasn't been released, yet. And if the SD9VE is being sued, then PSA will most certainly be sued, too because it can accept numerous Glock 19 Gen 3 parts.
@@Megames2012 as long as you're comfortable with being a test dummy by all means. Its PSA's first pistol ever but it is pretty much a P80. It's a hard design to mess up. The fact that you're willing to recommend any gun that hasn't been introduced to market is hilarious to me. With that being said I would never do so but hey, roll that dice! I'm not a betting man myself. I'm sure it will be fine but my point is how can we recommend pistols that arent out yet? What's the point of reviews and testing if we do that? There has been many flops that I'm glad people reviewed as I would have bought them but found out they are dumpster fires. Good luck!
The Glock conversations are chambered in .22 TCM 9R and from all my personal testing they can be unreliable. Ammo choices are extremely limited as well ands it's not easy to reload for most. Great option for fun, shitty option for SD. If those calibers are your thing then get a Ruger or FN five seven.
The Green Man....I knew that was just trying to keep it a short reply. You are totally right though about the limited access to ammo not a reloader but I could see that point as well. I plan on working the Ruger 57 and an RIA .22TCM/9mm combo into the budget for my next firearms!
Handgun(s) for Home Defense?? *_Why, why, why..._* You could have saved yourself money & time by just buying a $300 to $400 USD Rem. 870 or Moss 500 pump shotgun load with whatever you feel is right and putting it in a corner of the house. The most powerful, reliable, effective, and the ultimate fear striker in the hearts of home invaders. Done. Question: If the home invader is armed he/she/they will almost always have a handgun and/or knives/clubs so _Why_ have the same firepower that the "bad" guy/gal has?? Odd. You want overwhelming firepower to make sure you are the one who wins that self-defense battle.
@@AK-47ISTHEWAY Explain why you think the AK pattern rifle is "for the win 🏆" a better home defense gun🏡 . Please keep it _logical_ with no feelings, emotions, and passion - just facts brother. Have an outstanding day.
@sweetcostarica More fire power. Quicker follow-up shots. Less recoil than a shotgun, and unlike an 870 or 500, an AK is semi-automatic, so you don't have to worry about manually cycling the action, which could be difficult under stress. 10 round, 20 round, 30 round and 40 magazines, and even up to 75 round drums. Plus, my AK only cost me 325 bucks 💵 because I bought it back in the early 2000's.
@@AK-47ISTHEWAY Excellent response for war, field use, or outside the home 🪵. In the home, for home defense, the trench gun or boom sweeper seems best. No need for drums, extra clips, or more than 2 or 3 shell/rounds as in all self-defense shootings 2 to 3 shots are all that is needed (FBI statistic). In confined spaces and short distances like in a house 🏠 the shotgun is king. The power of the shotgun in one shell is awesome 👌. Great discussion 👍!
