The Electra One MK II MIDI controller builds on the strengths of its predecessor, adding a faster processor that lets the most versatile MID controller available do even more.
Front and center the Electra One MK 2 is its large, full-color touchscreen, which offers an intuitive interface for controlling a wide array of parameters. This touchscreen is highly responsive, allowing users to navigate through menus and adjust settings. The interface can display a multitude of control elements, including faders, custom controllers and buttons, all of which can be tailored to the specific needs of the user. This flexibility makes the Electra One MK 2 suitable for controlling software synthesizers, digital audio workstations (DAWs), hardware instruments, and more. All of this is extendable using Lua scripting, as well as by using the web editor and it's SysEx functions.
It includes USB and two MIDI DIN i/o connections as well as a MIDI host port, ensuring compatibility with virtually any piece of MIDI-enabled equipment. This range of connectivity options makes it a central hub for any studio or live setup, capable of interfacing with both vintage gear, software and modern instruments too.
The Electra One MK 2 also boasts an impressive build quality. The aluminium enclosure is both lightweight and durable, making it ideal for both studio and on-the-road use. The controls themselves are crafted with a focus on longevity and tactile feedback, featuring high-quality encoders that are designed to withstand extensive use without degrading in performance, and feel great and solid.
Customization is a key aspect of the Electra One MK 2 experience. The controller allows users to create and store multiple presets, which can be easily switched during live performances or recording sessions. These presets can be as simple or as complex as needed, providing everything from basic parameter adjustments to intricate control setups that integrate multiple devices and software applications. The ability to quickly switch between these presets adds a layer of versatility that is particularly beneficial in dynamic performance environments. It can also host patches inside the device, using the Snapshot feature, which is great for older instruments for which backup cards can be expensive.
The Electra One MK II is highly regarded for its community-driven development approach. The company behind the controller actively engages with its user base to gather feedback and implement new features, and community members are ready to help make new patches. This collaborative approach has resulted in a product that continually evolves as the userbase grows.
In summary, the Electra One MK 2 MIDI controller is a powerful and versatile tool that offers a high degree of customization and integration with both hardware and software. Its robust build, intuitive touchscreen interface, and extensive connectivity options make it a valuable asset for any musician or producer looking to enhance their control over their music production or live performance setup. With its user-centric design and ongoing development, the Electra One MK 2 stands out as a premier choice in the world of MIDI controllers.

An option to freely configure hardware buttons is already included in the upcoming v3.7 firmware.

I was so happy when I saw your review of the Electra One. I've had it for about 1 year now and it's really great. I have big requirements and the Electra One fulfills almost everything I want. What it doesn't do, it will certainly be able to do with updates. I must also say that the support from Martin is the best I have experienced. He is really good. Takes time to listen and improve. Thanks for the good review.

You're welcome! Yes it's rare to get such amazing support. I think it takes some work to understand but is very rewarding once you get it all done, and from then on you're free to do whatever you like! It also just keeps growing at a high pace.

If your an electronic drummer playing melodic stuff, this should allow you to express yourself freely.

That's an interesting idea, do you mean use it as an easy way to change what pads are doing and so on?

Worth mentioning the MIDI learn function that supports sysex so if you have an old synth you can use a software editor like the free ctrl-r to send the code directly to the one's usb interface.

Many thanks! TBH I 'm such a Lua noob I'm probably not the best to teach it, but the forum has been great for learning so far.

well done video in terms of the gear and the thought process one should take. We often look at the price tag, shrugging it off without thinking.

lua tables index counting from one is something i sometimes see in my nightmares.

LOL yes it's a bit of change for me too, as all I've really done in earnest before this is Unreal Blueprint which is C++ based and is thus index 0. It's just such a fundamental thing that it's burned into your brain after a while and is very hard to snap out of.

LOL I have an idea to make the zoomer mic holding sections more and more silly. Like holding a shotgun on a huge boom pole or something. I'd probably have to shave a mullet for authenticity.

It's a slog... and unless you have countless hours and no other distractions it's a bit of a dog to get your head around. Beautifully made and lots of great folks in the forum.

It's firmly in the "you get out what you put in" camp, if you're programming it yourself. The forum is a big plus, I've never found one so positive.

Hmmm, the nuclear option, I like it. Well, at least for me (a guy that wants to control his pedalboard for guitar) and maybe other stuff later.
9 дней назад
I'd think the best thing would be that you can make a page controlling multiple pedals, so instead of opening the H9 app and using that, then opening another app or bending down, you can just get it all on a single page.

This unit hasn’t been hyped so much, witch I like. Thinking to get one to serve my Synthstrom Deluge, witch is basically a DAW in a box. Anyone else using this in conjunction for the deluge?

what's that battery thing in the electra pad in the outdoor shot?
11 дней назад
For the outdoor shot there’s just a generic USB battery hidden out of sight. The things sticking out of it are WIDI dongles, wireless MIDI

Could I use this to drag my MPC Renaissance into the current touchable gen?

I'd guess that's only limited by what the MPC allows you to access via CC and SysEx

Looks beautiful but a bit of a time-suck science project that might/not be around/supported in a couple of years. Elgato's Stream Deck Plus is surprisingly powerful and would be great if that made a double-featured, double touch panel version.
7 дней назад
I guess the bonus here is it’s quite open, and has been around about five years now, so is pretty mature. MIDI isn’t going to change at this point either, so for most devices it should always work from now on. I’ve yet to fool with stream decks, but some people use them with the Electra One for even more power!

This is really good!. I've been really hoping someone would come up with something like the MPC X OLED per knob type controller. :( Even something like the screen of the latest Kontrol Series, with the lcd labels above each knob. Row of knobs on top, row on bottom and maybe two or four on the sides. Someone had done this, but think they went under about as fast as they started.

There’s a device called the MP MIDI that sounds similar to your description, if I’m getting it right. It does have a bit more of a reliance on specific software on the DAW side, as plugins have to run in their wrapper, and then you can control them effectively on the device’s screen. It may be worth you having a look at that. I chose the Electra One 2 because it was very “standalone” and I’m always a bit nervous of things like having to run everything through a wrapper that may or may not continue to be updated in the future, while the Electra One will always work as it does now for most things. The exception being things like DAW control, which is heavily reliant on those patches being kept up to date and the DAWs not breaking it, which is easily done, needing everything to be updated. I don’t think there’s ever going to be a perfect universal, unbreakable solution TBH.
@Curious_Skeptic
@Curious_Skeptic 4 дня назад
Yes, think that is it. The reality though is everyone is thinking complex! Simple cc knobs. Led oled has nothing to do with knobs! What is needed would be easily assigned text under each knob. That's it. No updates needed. A custom template per plugin or synth.
4 дня назад
@@Curious_Skeptic I wonder what the cost of lots of little OLEDs is vs one big LCD screen? I'd guess it's about the same, so would be a different way of doing it, you could have something in the format of Electra one, with 36 knobs, each with a small screen below? That sounds quite cool!
@Curious_Skeptic
@Curious_Skeptic 3 дня назад
Yes! It would be the perfect, easy to use, midi controller. I have been tinkering around w options. Wide, narrow lcd screens are cheap. Plus, it's just another windows screen. You could create a jpg file as your template. No special software. Looking for cheap cc controller options that are compact. Korg nano is too small, but simple. Again, all these outrageously expensive startups... Keep It Simple Stupid, kiss, has always been my them in studio design.
@martinpavlas4102

@@Curious_Skeptic the very first E1 prototypes used small displays. Over the time, however, I realized (my personal opinion) that such design has many drawbacks: constrained view of the displays (knobs, fingers), no way to display more complex graphics, navigation calls for extra display anyways. I am not saying that it is a bad idea, but it has its own limitations.

It sure isn't cheap, but then literally speaking, it isn't cheap. It makes most controllers feel like toys 😅. There are tons of options for lower-cost basic controllers though if you want that.
