Opened gifts, and my wife got me Mamba Mentality (Kobe’s book), and a TON of Basketball cards. Lol. Got anything cool? More on topic, is this Nets team a Top 10, Top 20, or Bottom 10 Squad in the Ultimate Series??
I think they are top ten interested to understand why Harden and Irving are left off. Center is the weak spot I'm tempted to convince Durant he is a stretch 5. So I can start Rick Barry. Rick and Dr. J and KD can all guard larger players with their athleticism. They all stretch the floor with shooting so the middle would be open.
I wanted to do a Christmas themed video, but just didn't have time to get it done. I'm glad this feels like a Christmas gift to you and Nets fans though :)
Merry Christmas, Jonny!! Kidd, Dr. J, and VC would be so amazing. Great facilitating, amazing dunks, athleticism, solid passing, and a lot of fun. KD balances out the rest of the team too. I agree about the spacing and shooting and there would be no double teaming either. Lopez would be a solid interior presence also. Williams would be great off the bench. I remember him being in the conversation about some of the best point guards (him and Chris Paul) in the 2000s and how he was in the Redeem Team. Awesome to see Petrovic also. I was too young to see him play before he passed away, but read and heard about him. He was ahead of his time and if the Nets need more spacing, I can see him and Durant being on the floor at the same time. The backcourt for the Nets is so solid. Yeah, I too wouldn't think of Rick Barry as a backup from what I heard about him, but I agree that he would be an excellent backup. Solid free throw shooter also. The bench of the Nets would have some solid shooting with Petrovic and Barry. Martin and Coleman would be a good frontcourt. They'd bring some good rebounding and a solid frontcourt presence overall. The Nets are so strong at small forward - Barry, Dr. J., King, and Jefferson. They've got a lot of good depth in the backcourt (Richardson is solid too) and SF position. Great video! Merry Christmas to you and your wife :) Hope you are having a great one! Take care. God bless :).
I was New Jersey Nets fan when I was young and they were my favorite team to watch after they acquired Kidd. Simply, they were fun to watch. I don't know how your team would do in your simulated playoffs, but I bet they would be fun to watch in real life.
Richard Jefferson over the admitted knuckleheads that were James Harden & Kyrie is crazy. It gets even crazier when you throw in guys like Kenny Anderson (who I somehow forgot about), Tiny, Buck Wms, Kerry Kittles & KVH (an underrated pair), Mikal Bridges, and Joe Jesus. I mean, he lags behind all those other guys if you ask me.
Harden and Irving didn’t make enough of an impact while they were on the Nets. RJ was a solid starter that helped them reach the finals twice, while both Harden and Irving didn’t play more than 54 games for the Nets in a season.
@@officialconchHe played significantly, significantly more regular season/playoff games with the Nets, and Nets fans generally respect KD but not the other 2 as well.
Great list! I personally would put Buck Williams at the backup 4 instead of K-Mart. He’s much more well-rounded at both ends of the court, and brings the defense to an already primarily offensive squad.
That starting 5 is lowkey crazy. Kidd/Carter is an extremely dynamic backcourt with size, skill, and elite athleticism. Dr. J, Durant, and Lopez is a really versatile frontcourt. There are mismatches everywhere. I remember the Nets big 3 with Durant, Irving, and Harden had great offense, but bad defense and reliability. This starting 5 is at least as good offensively and way better on defense. The shooting isn't bad, either. I think some of your other teams ran into the problem of spacing. But this Nets starting unit doesn't have this problem. It's extremely well balanced.
Another dope video. Jason Kidd with Doc and VC at wings is like a QB with two X spot Receivers. Just throw 50/50 jump ball passes and they’ll come down with them on alley oops. Crazy lob city play
Buck Williams needs to be on this team. Bernard King was a terrific player, but Buck played longer for the Nets and was a consistent inside force in the 80's.
I can’t believe that you left Buck Williams off. He’s the all time franchise leader in games, minutes, 2pt FG’s, FT’s, rebounds and Win Shares, and he only merits an honourable mention, yet you add five small forwards, and then lament that the team is weak in the paint. I think that you’ve had too much eggnog.
A fast team which will have plenty of opportunity to score on a fast brake, and spectacularly at that! But should a game slow down and become more phisical they might have issues. Good to see Dražen Petrović honoured for the little time he did contribute to the Nets. With the likes of Divac and Sabonis (and some others I may have forgotten) he was part of that first influx of European players into the NBA. Merry Christmass!
BUCK WILLIAMS at PF... NETS ALL TIME ALL TIME LEADER in FG MADE ALL TIME LEADER IN REBOUNDS ALL TIME LEADER IN OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS ALL TIME LEADER IN DEFENSIVE REBOUNDS 3rd in BLOCKS 2nd in POINTS 1st in REBOUNDS per game 1st in Defensive Win Shares 1st in WINSHARES ON his prime with the NETS: 18 PPG / 12,3 REBOUNDS / 56%FG
Rick barry is a legend but i'd personally put kyrie at the backup sg and petrovic at the sf spot. Both arent gonna be defensive threats but both will provide buckets if more 3pt shooting is needed. But great video nonetheless.
Great Nets squad you selected. However, I would have selected Buck Williams instead of Bernard King as one of the rotational players, as he was definitely a great defender, rebounder, and intimidating presence in the paint. King could be on the Nets' D-League team, along with Billy Paultz, Wendell Ladner, Darryl Dawkins, Bill Melchionni, Otis Birdsong, Ray Williams, and Super John Williamson.
Im a longtime nets fan and kyrie irving fan, stephon , mikal, even kerry kittles and i see how there definitely good enough to make any team This team is perfect for eachother though cause the perimeter defense is way better with deron as well as playmaking. Iso joe, harden , are to iso for this super star playmaking team . This team needs richard jefferson cause athletically this team will be running around so many teams with more skilled players its literraly insane!!!!
Dr J hit threes at a 30 percent clip in the ABA. He and KD aren't exactly floor spacers, but can't be left open.. Drazen might be a better fit than Vince because of spacing. The wings on this team are outrageous. Tiny, Harden and Irving left off the team makes a statement.
Jayson Williams(who killed is k Lemo driver) should be the power forward. Drazen Petrovic had more impact than Vince Carter with the Nets. He was a great shooter, while Vince Carter put up empty stats. Sugar Ray Richardson over Deron Williams.. I would use Bernard King before Dr J off the bench.
If youre really looking for best-fit, I think you should have gone with Buck Williams over KMart. We all love the highlights and I like Kmart in a run and gun team, but Williams will just got to work with a one if the best business-like attitudes you can ever get. He'll score more efficiently, rebound much better, and defend about as well - which is saying something (both great defenders). He works great fitting around other stars too. Tough call, but it must have been close.
The facts that Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson are #11 & #12 respectively is CRAZY!! I thought Stephon Marbury would have made the cut. This team is definitely a 1st round playoff contender.
This video did not mention in the short 3 years Julius Erving was on the New York Nets, he won 3 straight ABA Reg Sea MVPs, 2 ABA Finals MVPs, and 2 ABA League Championships. He was also the consensus best basketball player in the world, both ABA and NBA. The young ABA Dr. J was as great a basketball player as had ever existed.
Starting Five C Billy Paultz PF Kevin Durant SF Julius Erving SG Drazen Petrovic PG Jason Kidd Second Unit C Derrick Coleman PF Buck Williams SF Rick Barry SG Vince Carter PG Bill Melchionni Rotation Players C Brook Lopez PF Kenyon Martin PG Kyrie Irving There are many players capable of changing roles, without lacking size, Paultz and Coleman can play both center and power forward, Williams and Durant can play power forward and small forward, Barry and Carter are swingmen, Kidd and Irving are combo guards, beyond the choice of a small starting five, there are many options available, in my opinion one of the most balanced teams from the starters to the last player on the bench.
I will say apart from being what honorable mentions are for having them compiled will definitely make it easier for the sim because in the event 2K does not have the rights to one of the players you can use an honorable mention to fill in that spot for them.
Loving this series. Excellent scoring, lots of shooting... I mean Rick Barry coming off the bench?! Wow! But boy what lack of quality centers. Derrick Coleman?! Yikes!
great team but my main issue would be lack of rebounds and domination in the paint ,no doubts about Brook Lopez as an elite player but in my humble opinion he was somewhat underwhelming on the boards
I don't know how, but i would put Marbury on the team: in the pre-Kidd years, he was the main weapon of the team and the first player of those years that come in my mind. Also i think he would fit well on what i think about that ultimate team: a roster capable of doing great wins and ton of highlights some nights, but also throw away some others matches. Overall i think this is a team that could made the playoffs, but cannot progress over the first round (especially when looking at some other ultimate rosters in the East that are loaded in a more balance way and maybe even with more pure talent and athleticism... Celtic, Bulls and Heat in particular will destroy them)
The Nets have a nice team yet I'm surprised that you didn't find room for Kyrie Irving on either the starting or backup guard spots... Sam Cassell (I'd definitely start over Deron Williams) Kendall Gill & Keith Van Horn, the Nets have so many deserving players so not an easy list to make
This is definitely a better team than I intuitively expected. Still don't see them as top 5 in the east as the Celtics, Bulls, 76ers, Bucks, and Heat are clearly better. Would these Nets make an 8 team playoff? I don't know. It's hard to say who of the four would be left out between the Magic, Cavs, Knicks, and Nets. Bare in mind we haven't see his Pacers and Wizards teams yet so we'll have to see those to make a full judgement. (I'm supremely confident that the Raptors won't be much a factor here.) With Durant, Erving, and Carter to do the scoring, Kidd can mainly focus on his passing and Lopez can focus on defense, rebounding, and rim protection. A very dynamic starting lineup that can score lots of points while also covering the other aspects of the game, especially since Kidd was also an elite defensive point guard and KD is also an underrated defender. If the starting lineup is cold from the perimeter, Petrovic becomes the perfect 6th man. Willams can help keep Kidd's minutes down and Coleman/Martin can be for the 2nd unit what Lopez is for the first. And Barry off the bench is pretty strong. King and Jefferson provide excellent offense at the end of the bench. Only change I would make would be Marbury over Richardson. This is another team that could finish as high as 6 if things broke their way. (Same with Magic, Cavs, Knicks.) I'm pretty ironclad on Celtics 1, Bulls 2, and some combination of 76ers, Bucks, Heat 3-5 in some order. I am interested to see how good the Pacers and Wizards turn out as far as the East goes.
After you cover all the ultimate teams you should do a full 32 team tournament and put all the ultimate teams against each other. Your opinion on who’s best would be entertaining and informative
For sure! The 2k sim is just one of the ways I want to tackle it, but I do think I wanna do a ranking video as well. Will probably pick coaches at the end too. When you make a 30 part series that’s gonna be roughly 5 hours long… you kinda want to get your monies worth from it 😂
Good Lineup, should make play in, not a fan of the starting lineups defense or team depth, but its a fine lineup also Kyrie should be in the second lineup over Petrovic (Maybe take RJ over the team)
I wasn't sure who would be on the all-time Nets team aside from Jason Kidd, Dr. J, Petrovic. Never Rick Barry was a former. Kevin Durant, Vince Carter, KMart, Brook Lopez good squad.
PG Kidd SG Carter SF Dr. J PF Buck Williams C Brook Lopez PG Bill Melchionni SG Kenny Kittles SF Richard Jefferson PF Derrick Coleman C Billy Paultz 11 Chris Morris 12 Mike Gminski 13 John Williamson
