i use her secondary fire in 1 vs 1 when i dont have support. one thing i dont think you mentioned is that her secondary fire goes away after a short amount of time. thanks for the tips love the content ❤
I like how you're showing a related gameplay clip on what you're talking about, while also highlighting it. Unlike other tutorial/guide vids where they all just talk but the clip in the BG isn't related to the topic.
Burst firing her primary. You can usually get about the first five shots at 100% accuracy and can really catch another long range target off guard if shot at head level, especially with the follow-up railgun shot. it only takes about half a second for the accuracy to reset. This also helps when you're threading the needle through some obstacles at a distance or a choke. Also noticed that Preemptively shooting her disruptor at the enemy spawn can land you extra ult charge at the start of the match. Sneak it in there and get away scott free with the slide. When it comes to her slide, when going for a sneaky flank try not to jump. The noise she makes when jumping is a lot more obvious and audible to the enemy team. When it comes to her disruptor, keep in mind the maximum projectile distance. You can use this to your advantage to get greater effective area denial instead of half of the bubble being underground or overlapped by another object. This also helps when shutting someone down that's on The high ground. air bursting the disruptor over the center of The high ground is much more effective than hitting the back wall or the front of the ledge that they're on. When using her ultimate, I find that if there's a target at or below 20 health, her primary rapid fire can usually do the trick at medium to close range. This allows you to get a kill while the railgun is charging up to 100% in the background for your next Target. Holding her railgun charge can dupe the enemy team into using defensive abilities, and force them to play more defensively. It is obvious when a Sojourn has full charge. Play the mind games and use this to your advantage.
This is amazing advice I use disrupter fairly well but baiting rail shots will help a ton in a pinch I main dps on tanks an pick off healers ... if an when I can I'm no pro but the baits idea will help alot ..aka divas block an other shields. Also last 10 games why is genji always on my 6 I mean yes I expect it now but dang never fails they wanna get me gone it's whatever just a game but dam man it gets old I can handle half the time but I feel like trying to focus an quick kill one if I can just takes to much away from my contribution to my team I think that bait will also help with this maybe a late "reload" faint an time there rush with rail can make this alot easier if they waste their block they'll probably rush more often then not being u can speedslide there way just bait an wait pull right time an Ile spend less time saying curses an saying why me lmfao God tier info you are greatly appreciated for this thank u very kindly
I'm claiming myself as a Sojourn main. Like you said she's pretty versatile. There are four things that you have to do with her: 1) Work on your aim while you slide. It can help you get out of situations and take people out at the same time. 2) Use the disruptor shot to isolate enemies, shoot at payloads (especially on push), and as a barrier to escape situations. 3) High ground is your best friend. 4) If you have a good mercy pocket YOU ARE LITERALLY GOD SO DESTROY ANYONE YOU SEE lol.
Number 1 tip I can give (other than the ones already given) is that her orb is an excellent protector of your healers. If they are getting dove it’s extremely easy for sojourn to regroup to your healers and give them extra protection. Most of the time healers are in a room and the enemy dps is chasing them through a confined space, so being able to slide back to your healers and give them nearly instant protection can be vital. Try and keep an eye out for your friends.
I’ve found that disruptor shot is really good at annoying heroes like soldier and Winston. For instance u can throw it on soldiers biotic field and he can’t heal, or if u can get it inside Winston’s bubble, he can’t sit there.
My tip for is when start her ultimate to use her primary fire to aim and hit a target before firing the rail gun shot. Doing this will help in landing more critical hits because your already moving in motion while primary firing on them. Test it out 😊
I always have to remember that when I pop her ult that using the primary fire still charges up the secondary so instead of thinking of the ult as a way to get the rail gun quickly for easy kills use the primary with it to just damage the entire team at once
I’ve been kinda running her like the rail gun in quake three. It’s wind up time was very similar to the time it takes to charge a snipe shot. It’s a fresh way to play an old game with a taste of true nastalgae behind it.
One main thing I've seen and adapted to while I main Sojourn is, there are so many counter hero's so the best defense against the many counters is to stand behind my tank and just shoot through them so that I can build the charge than step out so when I'm spotted I can take the shot and just rinse and repeat
The best tip that helped me a ton was to invert her primary/secondary fire controls if you're playing with a mouse. That is, primary fire with RMB and the secondary with LMB. I instantly felt more comfortable since it was easier for my muscle memory to go for the high power headshots with the left click.
I took your advice because I found that if I use any hero with LMB at primary, I felt that my aiming would stutter. Switching to RMB as primary made my aiming very smooth and accurate.
I think I may even try this on console. I’m a believer in “never stop firing” so I’m not bursting with her anyway. It’ll be like playing defense in 2k. Always got the left trigger pulled. Lol
You forgot to mention that the disruptor orb slows the oponets caught in the orb down making it easier to hit a shot with your secondary fire. also the secondary fire will uncharge after holding it for to long hope these tips helped any new sojourn mains -sojourn main
Sojourn absolutely kills at duels when encountering another flanker. My strategy is don't dodge left and right like usual duels, makes projectile shots a little hard to land. Fire disruptor at them which forces them into a certain direction then primary fire and dash toward the direction they run. Then finish them close range with secondary and a punch for a near guaranteed kill. By the time you need to finish them off you only really need less than 40% secondary even for a body shot. A lot of players don't expect how much damage happens so quickly and usually fumble their escape skills. Only down side is you can usually only pull this trick off once before the other player wises up.
Theres a trick you can learn to use with her disruptor shot, it has a max range where it just detonates regardless of collision. Against widow players on high ground or just in scenarios where hitting something hard to do, if you know the range you can still fire it and have it detonate exactly where it is most useful, definitely worth a few minutes in a custom game to figure out how to do it consistently.
Try switching out her right click w/ left click and vice versa. So you spray with right click and your rail gun is on left click . It feel more natural this way IMO . Also binding her dash to a more accesible button helps me bec I have small hands lol. I binded it to mouse wheel down.
Came here to say this exact thing. I had to think too hard about hitting rmb and aiming at the same time, it felt gross. Instead, holding rmb and leading your shots is still easy to charge your altfire with, then when you hit 100, you can just let your muscle memory take over. Left click the head. ✅️
I actually swapped my primary fire and secondary fire button for her in the settings. I found it easier to line up or flick the charged shots using the left mouse button.
I always use her slide ability to disengage fights, and better pick and choose which fights I take, and which ones I don't. If I'm having it out with a Widowmaker, and they're dealing more damage to me than I am to them, I'll slide/jump the fuck up outta there, because the risk:reward ratio isn't in my favor. Learned this in Apex, and it transfers well into OW. I main Horizon in Apex, so being able to slide jump is natural to me. And Sojourn has by far been my favorite Hero. Never played OW, and just started OW2. Definitely an amazing game
As soon as our rein ults I use the orb. If our Mei ults I use the orb. If the enemy orisa ults I use the orb. Anytime the enemy is immobile (even partially) I use the orb to add pressureif not kill them outright. It's also good for slowing down targets for your genji when he pops dragonblade.
A tip that might not be good is. If a Doomfist is power blocking againt you just shoot in to it, if he tries to punch you you can use your orb plus railgun to kill him quickly with the help of your team, but if he runs away its just free railgun charge. (only do this in certain situations)
Strafing should always be used for aiming if you don't happen to need it for dodging. Strafing and mouse movement are combined to either reduce each other's effects, giving you more accuracy as if you had lower DPI/sensitivity, or to amplify each other.
One thing I do with her, if I'm hitting my primary fire and half my railgun half ish charged up, I'll just fire it at the enemy I'm killing, then it should be enough damage to take them out. If they have more health/ is a tank then I'll hold off and wait till I have more charge. But getting an easy early pick can really help win the team fight I'll sometimes use her other damage ability (blanking on the name) very aggressively too. Like if I'm engaging in a team fight, I'll launch its behind an enemy and fire at them. They either retreat into it and die, or flee in a disadvantageous place. I'll usually do this with my team so its almost a free pick.
Yeah around 50 charge is when ill blast it on an enemy that's half hp more than likely it'll kill them and if its a tank ill just charge to 100 and get the hs
Ok maybe I’m slow but did I miss where you can tell how much energy you have stored (when her ult is not up)… sometimes the fights and spray fire is a bit wild so it’s hard to see when you’ve hit something. I’m assuming you don’t want to just spam your second shot Willy Nilly at Billy? Clarification? I really like this champ so I’m very happy to see this guide!! Great timing, great video, great speaking voice, great pacing as well.
Only thing I don’t agree with is the movement jiggle to adjust aim, I’m not Overwatch pro but that’s bad advice for any FPS, it’s a bad habit to adjust aim with walking, center the shot, and lead em in. Do what he did in the video but instead of walking to adjust, this method is timing or flicking, timing to have em walk into the shot, or you can flick your shot, I don’t suggest making movement aiming a habit.
Honestly, letting people waltz into your charged shot is so much fun lol. Happened the other day for me and I almost felt bad for the poor Hanzo. Almost...
Been playing sojourn in comp and she is definitely good and fun. Replaced genji as my go to hero. I have a crosshair instead of a circle/dot so I'll probably mimic my widow circle and see if that helps with the charged shot
Just trying to look like an expert (hire me!) lol: - Everyone misses the basic game designed point for disruptor shot usage. It's not necessary to lure enemies into a tight spot (would be great though). What you need to do with it is to try and put the center of the charge into an enemy model. The closer to the center - the better. It leaves not much of a choice to an enemy: 1) use skills to evade (expensive/not avalible) 2) fight you in a disadvantaged position (that's on you to secure) 3) RUN/STRAFE AT ONE DIRECTION untill he's out of the ability's range. That's it - the point of it all. He can't just strafe inside, he need's to get out asap, right? That means you suppose to easily land your every primary fire shot (even if it's not a hitscan gun) at the predictably one-way moving target. And land a 40 of a rail at the poor guy on his way out. - Consider switching primary and secondary fire buttons. Feels great for me, since I was landing railshots since Quake 3 with LMB, not RMB.
Even if im beginner, i can give the tip to focus the tank. Sojourn is a really good dps to kill tanks, u just have to hide behind yours, dealing maximum amount of damage, then get a little closer and use the secondary shot to at least get him low
First time playing yesterday. So far my favorite character is soujurn. I want to learn soldier and tracer later as well. Im not good at being a tank as of now and haven’t tried healer much to know if im good or even like it.
her primary fire has low bullet velocity so when tracking especially at further range you have to lead a bit more than soldier 76 but she decimates at close range if you are confident in your aim.
Two things 1 great to see highway carry stevoo in his games :) he needs it. Two my tip is change your right click to your meatball or slow orb. Honestly hit so many headshots when I have my railgun shot to E or a face button on controller.
What I do is find a big group and the mercy is healing me I but down the big circle thing then I use my ult the the tank is going after me since I killed their team I just slide back to my team and then a free team kill
So Mills just randomly isn't doing these videos anymore, and there are mysteriously no comments about it. I know people would be asking, which means you guys are deleting comments about it. So, what's up with that?
