Unfortunately, most areas in the GTA have gone up substantially. I lived in Vaughan, and house prices there are 3x-5x what they were in 2000. This is well beyond inflation.

To hit the nail in the coffin, the aviation industry boomed and is faster than the trains. And tbf, trains in America aren’t as bad as some developed countries. In fact, the US had one of if not the best freight system in the world.

It does help when your country is the size of the US state of Arizona But yea it does suck that America sucks at public transportation Once the leaders of the world is public transportation, then cars happened But at least the US still leads the world in freight train infrastructure But to be fair, the US ranks top 10 in total kilometers travelled by passenger rail, and top 12 in total passengers who use passenger rail Also, if you are willing to wait, the US has the most beautiful scenery for long distance train rides from places like Chicago to San Francisco, but it does take days to make that journey sooo And with more and more infastructure investments, passenger rail could be getting better Brightrail, a private passenger rail company has a bright future, no pun intended

He mostly tried to appeal to these people, after all, after the war about 10-13 million people were displaced from places like Pommerania,Silesia and Königsberg. So it made sense to not accept the borders so late after the war, until a ton of new people were born in the new places they have settled in, thus having no real connection anymore to the places their parents were displaced from.
